It’s been forever and a day (or maybe even longer) since I’ve joined on a Friday fill-in kind of fun, so I thought why not join in and have some fun on a Friday?

From Ann of McGuffy’s Reader:

“The Friendly Fill-Ins are four fun and easy statements to complete. Ellen of 15andmeowing provides the first two statements and the final two are offered by myself. We try to make sure they will be fun to both answer and share. On Friday, the linky will be posted at or about 12:00 AM. Please come back, link up, and share your thoughts!”

And away we go! Here are this week’s statements with my fill-ins:

Week 11: July 22, 2016

1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to come in and do a “Clean Sweep” on my house – in case you’re unfamiliar, it was a show in the early-ish 2000’s on TLC where this team would come in and purge the clutter, as well as completely redesign a couple rooms. I would sure love to have someone come wave their magic wand for me!

2. Zucchini is not my favorite vegetable. I’ve sort of come to terms with it and have actually made it as a side dish and/or incorporated into a dish, but still not loving it.

3. One Summertime memory I recall is my siblings and I would tie our little red wagons on the back of our bikes and ride up and down the street in front of our house like we were towing a camping trailer. Then we’d back them into the front yard recreating our family camping trips when one of my parents would back the trailer into a campsite while the other directed the process (complete with the cursing my dad would do if it wasn’t done ‘right’). We’d then pitch blankets as tents (staking down the corners which caused my poor mom extra laundry work when they’d get muddy) and eat lunch like we were at a campsite. We never did convince my parents to let us spend the night outside on our blanket tents, though.

4. This Summer is already flying by too fast! We do have some bonafide camping planned, so that’s something to look forward to, it’s always fun to do stuff like that with my kids so they can experience some of the same things we did as kids. Since we do tent camping, it will be minus the trailer and cursing as the trailer is backed into the campsite, of course…heh!

That’s a wrap! Hope you join in the fun!

    1. So sorry, Annie! I resized the images – let me know if they’re still too big. I just updated WordPress yesterday, so I’m betting it caused an issue as the images should be flexible depending on what browser or device is used. Let me know if you’re still having problems and I’ll do some more shrinking! 😉

  1. Stacy, my best friend and I would camp out in her little two person tent in her parents front yard. It was a lot of fun. Sometimes, we’d venture out in to the dark with our flashlight to spy on the boys (her older brother and friends) or they’d do the same thing hoping to spook us and sometimes it worked. lol We didn’t have to worry with bad people in rural West Virginia, though. There wasn’t anyone in our small community capable of hurting a single hair on a child’s head there, I don’t believe. Of course, my best friend and I were in Girl Scouts; we went camping to a nearby state park a time or two, but mostly camped in our leaders backyard and that was a bunch of fun. These days camping has lost its appeal. I’d rather be in the comfort of my home, instead of roughing it or not-so roughing it in the great outdoors. 🙂 Have a funtastic weekend, my friend!

    1. Sounds like you and your best friend had some amazing fun out there spying on the boys…heh!! The world is a different place than when we were kids, no? Princess Nagger had a backyard tent sleepover last summer – she’s trying to decide when she wants to do that this summer. 🙂 Funny, your idea of camping was my hubby’s idea, too – he said his idea of ‘roughing it’ was a cheap motel…I’ve converted him, though! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend! “See” you tomorrow! 😉

  2. I do remember that show and I’d love to sign up for a visit from them too! Your summer “camping” memories as a child sure brought back mine. We used to make blanket tents over the clothesline and spend our days in them. Try as we might, we could never convince our parents to let us sleep outside overnight. Your children are blessed to have some wonderful experiences like this that they will remember and share with their children some day!

    1. I sure wish that show was still on! Or that they’d just show up and transform my house for me… 😉 Sounds like your parents were similar to mine with the no spending the night in our blanket tents in the yard! 😉 So far the kids seem to be enjoying the camping experience – even the 13 year old doesn’t do as much eye-rolling as before…heh!! Thanks so much for stopping by – hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

  3. I’ve never been camping, but I did play fort inside many times as a child. My kids have done that, too. Now, our boys get plenty of “camping” as one is in the Navy and one is a Marine. 🙂

I enjoyed your post. Have a great weekend!

    1. Playing fort inside the house was a favorite past-time, too – my hubby had never been camping before I dragged him and the kids to do it last year, and now he’s hooked! 😉 Very cool your sons are Navy and Marine – thank them for their service for me! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by – hope you’re having an awesome weekend! 🙂

  4. Your blanket tents remind me of sleeping in the backyard in a homemade tent with my faithful dog Blackie by my side. For some reason it was a lot less scary sleeping with just my dog than it was when paranoid friends came along.

  5. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins. I enjoyed your answers. I used to love that show Clean Sweep, that would be fun to have them come over. That is a very sweet memory of playing with your siblings. I see you are ready for camping, you have the most important item a coffee pot 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks for having the fill-ins for me to participate in! 😉 Wasn’t that show great? I wish they were still on! Better yet, I wish they’d come to my house and work their magic… 😉 The coffee pot is indeed the most important item! Hope you’re having a great weekend! 🙂

    1. I know, right? I was very happy to see FF floating around and decided to jump on the bandwagon! 🙂

Thank you! It is an awesome tent, very roomy (3 rooms, so a modicum of privacy for the hubby and I and each of the kids. 😉 Plus it’s tall, so it’s nice to be able to actually stand up in it rather than hunch over! 😉

  6. You and I would do well camping together! I love that coffee pot!

And yes, summer is flying by waaaaay to fast!

I would love for someone to come in and revamp my house… take the reins and make it clean and organized and simple!

    1. I think you and I would have a blast camping together! I love that coffee pot, too – makes a world of difference when ‘roughing’ it! 😉

I wonder if we could put in for a Fairy Godmother to come revamp our houses, clean and organize them? Yes, I’m a dreamer, why do you ask? 😉

  7. eh, i feel pretty much the same way about zucchini. I know it’s healthy, so i eat it, but I put lots of stir fry sauce or cheese on it.

to have someone clean all the clutter out of my house? that would be amazing!

    1. Oh good, I’m not alone with the zucchini. 😉 Lots of stir fry sauce or cheese makes it totally edible! 😉 Or shredded into zucchini bread…

It would be absolutely amazing to have someone clean all the clutter – where’s my Fairy Godmother?! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!

  8. Oh, your memory made me laugh! How fun and creative you guys were! I wish you had pictures, but I could envision it! The real camping looks fun, too. It has been so long since we have gone camping! We actually have been talking about going fishing, though!

Thanks for being a part of Friendly Fill-Ins! I am so happy you joined us! Please call me Annie; everyone does! Hugs.

    1. I wish I had pictures, too! All those pre-digital and pre-cell phone days… kids nowadays don’t know how hard we had it back then! LOL! I will have to dig through my boxes of photo albums, though, and see what fun pictures I do have from at least my teen years – I and snap-happy with the camera (drove my friends crazy sometimes). Gonna have to set aside some time to do some picture diving! 😉 So much fun camping – and fishing, too. We’ll be fishing on our next camping trip, the kids are super excited about that! 🙂

Thanks for the warm welcome! I’ll ‘see’ you on Friday, Annie! 🙂
