May has arrived! Do you or did you ever have any May Day traditions?

When we were kids, May 1st (aka May Day) was always celebrated by making a cone vase out of a piece of construction paper, using ribbon or additional paper to fashion into a handle, fill them up with flowers from my mom’s flower beds (generally Irises, Daffodils, Tulips, Roses, Daisies, Dandelions (I know, dandelions are weeds – but to a kid, they’re still a yellow flower!), etc.)

MayDay

We’d run around the neighborhood and leave them hanging on our neighbors doors, ring the bell and run away. Probably the only time we’d ring the bell and run away and not have the neighbors mad at us…heh!

I’d love to find out who the yahoo was in the late 19th century that changed how May Day was perceived – a day for marches and protests and whatnot. I like the idea of celebrating spring and doing something nice. That’s how I’ll be teaching my kids about May Day. So there.

My buddy Slon posted this cool wall art on Facebook recently:

DisneyWallArtCool

I love it! I think, though, that one of her other friends hit the nail on the head for our household with this wall art idea:

GeekArt

Now to figure out which wall to do that on.

You’ve heard about the adult coloring books, right? There’s some study about how it helps alleviate stress. Well, I ran across some adult Adult coloring books I think are a must:

Bet you want one too, don’t ya?

Speaking of adults…this cracked me up:

I’m just gonna leave that there for ya…

This is proof positive I live in a beautiful state:

MtRainierWASpring

This was taken over the weekend by Carlos Duarte of Lake Tapps, Washington – not far from where my parents live. I love seeing Mt. Rainier daily (well, unless it’s cloudy and rainy, then you can’t see it) but with the weather being clear more often lately, it’s a daily breathtaking sight.

It’s time once again for Leslie’s (aka Rory Bore) Tuesday Coffee Chat!

This week’s prompt or question is:

“I will be seeing the latest Captain America movie this week – what movie are you looking forward to this summer? Do you consider yourself part of a particular “fandom?”

I haven’t even begun to think of the movies I want to see this summer – it’s been a very long time since I’ve been to see a movie that wasn’t a ‘kid’ movie. I need to get caught up on the Captain America movies because I want to see the one Leslie mentions that opens this Friday.

Princess Nagger is looking forward to seeing the Angry Birds movie (as am I), plus I’m hoping to see the new George Clooney movie, Money Monster, which looks looks really good (plus I like George Clooney, and in this movie he’s joined by Julia Roberts!). Both Princess Nagger and I are looking forward to seeing Alice Through The Looking Glass, since we’re both big Tim Burton fans.

As for being part of a particular ‘fandom’ – not really, though I suppose I might sway in the direction of being a fangirl for Stephen Amell who does an amazing job portraying the Green Arrow. He is super nice to his fans, and puts his wife and adorable tiny daughter as his top priority at all times – always. He gets a lot of love when he posts pictures like this on Facebook:

StephenAmellFamilyEspecially when he writes about the picture thusly:

“Home is whenever I’m with these two.”

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. I need both those posters on my walls!!! I definitely do Geek and proud of it. 🙂
I could definitely have that gorgeous mountain view to look at also. That is…. just… I don’t even have words because I have never seen anything like that! Just whoa.
Definitely will end up at Angry Birds because the kids of course. As well as The Looking Glass, but we have to see the first one because they were too young when it came out.
I saw Amell at a convention and you could tell he was really down to earth and great with his fans. He’s really well known here in Canada for his charitable involvements.

  2. Good Morning… hold on my coffee’s cold. ewwww Okay, that’s better. I mean if we’re gonna coffee clutch… right? ~hehehe~ How are you doing this morning my friend? I’m so sorry I haven’t written you, but I’ve been busy trying to push this dark cloud away that’s been following me. If you stop by today you’ll see what we just spent $5,000 on. Our furnace went caaaaaaaaaaapoot!!!! grrrr Girlfriend, if it’s not one thing it’s another as they say! Just another thing to add to our monthly bills. OUCH! So you have a great line up for movies to go see this summer. I wish we lived closer. I’d go with you. Have a wonderful day my friend. HUGS
