Holy cow, Christmas is next week!! Man am I not ready!! I finally got the tree up and a majority of the inside decorated, but haven’t yet touched the outside. If I have time (and energy, and motivation), I might decorate the front porch – or maybe I’ll just hang a wreath on the front door and call it a day.
I don’t know what it is about this year – either the speed at which we’ve been careening through it, or the weather, or something else…but it seems the typical “Holiday Spirit” seems to be a little on the ‘meh’ side this year. Have you noticed that?
Maybe it’s because I seem to have so much going on all the time, making me run around like a crazy person, and feeling like I’m taking one step forward and two steps back.
Plus there’s the part where I’m feeling so damn guilty about being so ‘absent’ on blog visits and comments and comment replies the last few weeks – I’m so behind on everything, it’s like swimming upstream!
To that end, I think I’m going to take a mini break – just for the next two weeks so I can 1) enjoy Christmas and New year with those I love, and 2) so I can start the year fresh and relaxed so I can be sure to give you the undivided attention you totally deserve. Of course I have the next two Monday’s pre-scheduled with some great music, so feel free to drop by and have a listen.
Meanwhile, enjoy these funnies – first a great one for those who aren’t big fan of the elves:
Or how about this hilarious Star Wars one:
Though if it were me, I’d have attached the elf to the wall with tape or something, and had Darth Vader standing back with his hands in the air. More realistic that way, no? Well, you know, ‘realistic’ being loosely interpreted.
Speaking of ‘realistic’… A few years ago a Seattle architect dude decided to create a cool illusion with his 14-foot Christmas tree:
A 14-foot Christmas tree appears to be crashing through the roof of a one-story house. Patrick Kruger created the illusion of the tree crashing through the roof by cutting a 14-foot tree into two pieces and attaching the top six-foot section to a piece of plywood that’s bolted to the roof.
He even took the time to study the physics of an object breaking through a roof then added sheathing and typical roof construction materials to create the effect. Genius!
Speaking of genius… Robert Downey Jr. posted this image on his Facebook wall yesterday – totally cracked me up (and I know someone else is going to appreciate this):
Yep, those are some of the Avengers – RDJ posted “In between blockbusters…” Gotta love him (and them)!
And finally, this got a total belly laugh from both Princess Nagger and I – someone, as a joke, decided to create a meme about Starbucks cookies. You know, because of the ridiculousness of the red cup debacle:
Hysterical. I’m still laughing.
It’s time once again for Leslie’s (aka Rory Bore) Tuesday Coffee Chat!
She is also going on a mini break for the next two weeks – after this week, Coffee Chat will return on January 5, as will Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel (I decided to hook my caboose to her year end train…heh!)

This week’s prompt or question is:
“Naughty or Nice?“
Usually I’m very nice. Sometimes almost to the point of being too nice. But of course I’m naughty when appropriate. I’m gonna leave that up to your imagination. Nice, right? Right?!
That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

I’m going to miss you (and coffee chat) for the next two weeks. I have more time to blog over the next two weeks since I’m a teacher, and we will be out of school, but I’m so behind on Christmas shopping and wrapping and cooking… maybe I really won’t. The Polar Bear cookies really cracked me up, especially since my step-daughter now works for Starbucks as of a month ago. The Star Wars figures with the elf was pretty funny, too! Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year! See you January 5!
Like you, I’m just not much in the Christmas spirit this year. I don’t hate it but I sure don’t love it. That Starbucks cookie joke is hilarious!
You can hitch onto my caboose anytime!!!
Now, THAT sounded Naughty! LOL
I thought the exact same thing when I saw the Vader vs. Elf one… why is Vader touching him?? He doesn’t need to touch him, has the Force!! duh.
I LOVED that pic that RDJ posted. I swear the man sits around patrolling the Internet for stuff about himself…. and we love him for it!! 🙂
This first half of the year has definitely been a whirlwind!! I am going to enjoy my mini break — aside from maybe just posting some photos or a scheduled post. But mostly: relax and enjoy the season!
Merry Christmas!!
