Tuesday is here again – it’s one of my favorite days of the week, because it means I can bullshit with random and have coffee with my friends. Now if we could change it into wine with friends, that would sweeten the pot even more, no?
So apparently inadvertently bringing home some black sand in the treads of my shoes really is a bad luck thing. Luckily Princess Nagger didn’t accidentally pick up any black sand when she was running around with her hair flying free (this is one of my favorite shots of her on our vacation – in spite of her funky expression):
My sister, mom, Princess Nagger and I did get a shoe shot in the black sand:
But the ‘bad luck’ I speak of? I came home with a sinus/ear infection, and in spite of 10 days of antibiotics, I still have it! In fact, now both ears hurt. Ouch.
Luckily (well, it’s all relative) I go in today to see my doctor for the removal of a couple of moles she didn’t like the looks of (I know, so much fun will be had!) so she can send them in for testing. While I’m there, I’ll ask her about why the antibiotics didn’t work and see if there’s something else to take to kick this thing to the curb once and for all.
You know I’m sick if I actually take naps – last week I took a 90-minute nap every day in the afternoon, but Saturday saw me taking a nap for four hours. Totally uncharacteristic of me. The hubby took pity on me, so instead of me having to prop myself up in the kitchen to make dinner later, he ordered pizza. Cool.
I’m sure the fact that we went to the Puyallup Fair Friday evening (excuse me, they’ve renamed it the Washington State Fair…boring! I’m still gonna chant the catch phrase “Do the Puyallup!” every chance I get. And for those not from around here, it’s pronounced ‘Pew-al-up’ or some people say ‘Pew-yallup’).
Anyway… I did get a family selfie (first time ever!) on the way in the fair shuttle:
But we didn’t do any rides or games or anything, we went because I had purchased tickets a while ago to see Terry Fator and I didn’t want to miss out on that action, no matter how crappy I felt.
We voted for him when he was a contestant (and subsequent winner) on America’s Got Talent – being that both me and my sister are ventriloquist’s, he was our favorite:
The show itself was a bit of a disappointment – more time was spent with him singing and doing some stand-up bits vs. him with his puppets. I wanted to see more puppets. From what I can tell, his shows in Vegas are way more like I envisioned for Friday night, but I’m guessing he was performing in a limited mode for the “wholesome family” atmosphere at the fair.
Here’s hoping the hubby takes me to Vegas some day to see the ‘real’ show!
We’re hoping to go back to have some fun at the fair before it’s over this weekend, provided the yucks will disperse and I can actually enjoy myself (without puffy eyeballs, snot nose and earaches).
It’s time once again for Leslie’s (aka Rory Bore) Tuesday Chat!
She’s back! She’s back! Well, OK, she’s been back for a couple of weeks, but I apparently had a Blonde Moment and didn’t notice. Sorry, Leslie!
This week’s prompt or question is:
“Back To School: What Would you like to learn Now?”
That is a great question! Because really, if I wanted to learn anything, I’d just google it, no need to ‘go back to school’. heh.
Seriously, though – even though I’m a self-taught winemaker (and have won awards for my wine), if I could, I would totally go to winemaking school (yes, there are actual classes for that) to solidify what I’ve already learned and take it to the next level. Plus there’s that whole ‘making connections’ portion of it as well – that could never hurt.
I’d also go back to take theatrical classes – prior to embarking on my short-term-that-turned-into-long-term adventure in Pennsylvania, I was represented by a talent group (that also represents Heart) out of Seattle, and enjoyed doing quite a number of local commercials and extra work in television and movies that were filmed in this area. I would have loved to have continued in that to a more extensive degree for sure.
That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

Love that shot of PN! Sorry you’ve had an ear infection. Ick! Hurts! Love the puppets, too!
Hope you feel better soon. I also voted for Terry Fator during AGT. Would love to see one of his shows. But, like you, I’d want to see him with the puppets. That’s what it’s all about.
I do hope you are feeling better and I really hope the two spots you had removed are nothing more than moles!
Wine making sounds like fun! I like to drink wine!
And I love that photo of your daughter and your family!
Hope you feel better soon. Some day Nick and I will get to Hawaii. We will bring back some sand. We’re geologists and that stuff is cool.
OOHH!! Bad black sand!! bad sand! An ear infection in both ears: double suck. ugh. I’ve had only one ear hurt once after a day of swimming, and it darn near drove me to distraction. or murder. ugh – worst thing ever and I cannot imagine BOTH for TEN days!!
and I am guessing you cannot even have some of that wine because of the antibiotics.
Fairs are the best. We always have a great time at our local fair; even if it is horribly over priced for what is there. And I’d bet a lot of stand up comedians have to “clean up” their act for family viewing. I hear Bob Saget (remember the dad from Full House?) is absolutely filthy. Never would have guessed. He looks so…. “daddy.” LOL
If you go back to wine school, can I be your official taste tester…. eh, I mean… “Quality Assurance Inspector?” haha
It’s amazing (in a bad way) how much ear infections can hurt. Had one (bad one…) after an inexperienced diving adventure. Still loved the dive, but the aftermath… I hope you’re back to a-o.k. in no time.
Wow – your daughter’s hair is soooo long, gorgeous. I can see why you love this picture.
Oh, and if you have some excess wine – I’ll take it! 🙂
I love fairs and hope that you get better soon.
I say wine with friends would be great :)!
I’m sorry about the infection :(. Love the toe shots!
You have a beautiful family!
And I do love that photo of the princess too.
I really hope the moles are just weird and especially that you can heal soon from this infection. Please keep an eye on that.
Aloha!
I had ear infections as a kid, many moons ago. Feel better soon!
