I’m surviving Spring Break so far – the hubby is in his final week, the kids have been back to school since last week (and have this Friday off), so naturally the time is flying by fairly quickly. The hubby and I have been enjoying some one-on-one time, making the most of those precious school hours and the house being quiet as a mouse.

I did, however, end up fighting with my computer for the better part of the week last week – last Wednesday my computer decided to go into a perpetual loop of the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death.

Ugh.

Again.

Two times within two weeks is not cool.

Some days I wish I didn’t have so many necessary Windows programmed software, I’d totally jump ship and move on over to a shiny new apple instead. But alas and alack, I’m kind of stuck. Unless they’ve improved their mode of utilizing windows programs on a Mac – can any of my Mac friends confirm or deny?

PCvsMAC

So needless to say I was offline from Wednesday until the weekend, fighting with it and finally giving up and refreshing again,  making me have to re-install everything again. Computers are supposed to make your life easier, and yet more often than not, they tend to make them more difficult.

Can I get an Amen?

Speaking of making things difficult… Yesterday an Alaskan Airlines flight had to return to SeaTac airport only 5 minutes after they’d taken off.

AlaskanAirlinesSeaTac2

Why? Because somehow one of the luggage dudes had gotten himself locked in the cargo hold prior to take off.

Because he fell asleep.

Bet he’s going to catch a lot of grief for sleeping on the job, no?

Not to mention the exorbitant cost involved of the jet fuel consumed for take off and having to turn around because they heard someone banging from the cargo hold, plus the costly response of fire trucks and police greeting the plane on its return 15 minutes or so later.

That’s going to turn out to be one expensive  nap.

It’s time once again for Rory Bore’s Tuesday Chat!

This week’s prompt or question is:

“Favourite things. What are loving these days?”

Well of course it goes without saying that these two are my favorite things:

PNGrayFox

LD-PNPlay

And these two dorks:

TravisRex

RolexTrouble3

And these two:

Blackspot5

Charly

And of course all of these:

JohnsonsAndSwensons

The hubby avoids the camera like a plague, then makes funny faces when he’s captured on camera.

As far as favorite things that aren’t people or pet related, at the top of the list, naturally, is wine. And winemaking. It’s fun not only to drink wine, but to make it. Like these:

And these:StacyUncorkedWine1

And many other varieties. Especially coming up with labels and incorporating the Nag’s mug on them. You know, because the wine is named after her. Of course.

Also, I’m a collector of anything deer related – one of these days I’ll have to take pictures of my favorite ones. They’re everywhere. Luckily the hubby is tolerant of deer things taking over the house, because that’s how I roll.

What are a few of your favorite things?

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. What a fun post! I can totally relate to your windows vs. mac feelings. Same here. Just last Christmas I needed a new laptop and was thinking about it again. But since I sometimes play games on my laptop I stuck with windows. Pssst, but I am kinda regretting it. My big desktop had a major windows and mostly hardware upgrade a couple of years ago and runs super smooth – psssst – hope I didn’t just jinx it…

    1. Thank you, Claudia! 🙂 See? You know my pain on Windows vs. Mac – and I totally forgot about the zillion games I have that are Windows not Mac. I know they have some sort of dual boot-up where you can either boot up in Windows mode or Mac mode, but it sounds way too complicated (and annoying) to me. Now if they could just get along much easier… 😉

      1. Stacy

Loved your comments about Windows vs. Mac. Mac more expensive and harder transition from Windows to a Mac. However, I suppose you could re-build your Windows PC and save yourself a ton of money 🙂

My favorite bit was about the luggage man who fell asleep in the plane? It is not even comfortable!! One expensive sleep.

  2. LOL, I feel so bad. I didn’t even think of including my family and pets! (But would like to point out that that definitely goes without saying!) I totally went right to the superficial things 🙂

I knew you liked wine, but had no idea you made it, too. That’s awesome! I plan on making some vanilla dessert rum once I get my house clean enough to enjoy it. In other words, it probably won’t happen. But I am working diligently to make it happen, as evidenced by how much time I spend on my computer!

Happy Coffee Chat and Random Thoughts Tuesday! I’m having coffee now, but will probably progress to an Oculto by the end of the day.

    1. LOL! Of course it goes without saying, Kim – besides, I happen to like the superficial things that are your favorites, too. 😉

Yes! I love making wine – getting geared up to start again now that things are finally getting organized around here (read: got a shed and relocated the stacks’o’boxes there instead of the garage…organized? Not so much…heh!!) Ooooh! I’m curious as to how vanilla dessert rum is made – I’d be game to make that, too! 🙂 I do make Kahlua, and recently got introduced to making Limoncello and Lemoncello – if only I could make my own grain alcohol or vodka since that’s the main ingredient for all of those. 😉 I’d love to know more about this vanilla dessert rum you speak of! 🙂

  3. AMEN!!! and ugh!
me and technology definitely have a love/hate relationship. I have almost zero patience when things go wrong…. which is mostly because I have no clue what I am actually doing. Can you believe I never even had (barely) touched a computer until we bought our first laptop over 10 years ago when we got married? true story. and now look at me: blogger extraordinaire! LOL

I love your wine labels! And I’ve always wanted to try and make my own wine too! but then — I’d probably drink too much wine! ha.
Penguins. that is what my hubby has to deal with. penguins. 🙂

    1. Finally an AMEN! 🙂 Of course you’re a blogger extraordinaire – you’ve got brains and talent! 😉

Thank you for the compliment! What’s funny is I’ve been drinking less wine since I started making it back in 2003 – I do, of course, taste test when I’m racking it to make sure the flavors are what I’m hoping they’ll be, especially when I’m doing blending, but I tend to wait until we have friends over before I indulge. 🙂

Penguins are cool! (figuratively and literally speaking…heh!) And I’m tucking that away for future reference… 😉

    1. I’m glad you’re back to civilization, Rosemary! 😉 You have been missed. But oh what adventures you’ve had, eh? Looking forward to catching up! 🙂
