One week of Spring Break down, two to go! The kids enjoyed their time off last week, yesterday’s return to school was met with a mix of happiness to see their friends, but foot-dragging to return to school, learning, and OMG homework.

This week and next week the hubby’s on his Spring Break, so we’re going to see what kind of fun we can have while the kids are in school. Our plans for yesterday ended up getting canceled, so we have some making up to do, as well as cramming any kind of adult fun we can do when there are no kids skulking about.

I have a feeling these next two weeks are going to fly by much too fast. You know, with having fun  and all.

Speaking of fun… I want this clutch:

WineClutch

Why, you ask? Because it’s not just an ordinary clutch, it’s a wine clutch. The description from their website:

The Black Croc Wine Clutch is a single bottle insulated wine tote that looks like a purse. Black Croc Wine Purse has a thermal insulated compartment to keep your favorite bottle of wine chilled. It comes with a stainless steel corkscrew in the side pocket. The Black Croc Wine Clutch is small, lightweight, and very trendy. The Black Croc Wine Purse can double as a lunch bag too! Great gift idea for Mother’s Day, Christmas or a birthday for a wine diva.

Oh yeah. I think I’ll have to order one just to see how it is – and if nothing else to see the reaction of people when I go for a visit and whip out a bottle of wine from my ‘purse’. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Speaking of alcoholic beverages…  My best friend absolutely loves Southern Comfort Lime – so much so, she buys a bottle, keeps it in her freezer to make sure it’s super duper cold, and since she’s not a spendthrift, doles out shots for special occasions.

When she’s given me a shot of the SC Lime, it really is awesomely smooth.

SouthernComfortLimeOld

That’s a picture of their old label. They recently added a new flavor to their repertoire – caramel. Which is cool, and something I might like to try, since I love all things caramel.

But for some reason, according to my BFF, it seems they also changed the flavor of their lime version (along with changing the bottle and label design):

SouthernComfortNew

According to her, the ‘new’ lime now has a terrible aftertaste. It’s almost as if they added the caramel flavoring to the lime – which, as we can all imagine, isn’t a great combination. She said that the scent, while primarily the expected pungent lime scent, also smells like Kahlua. Ew.

I wonder if they changed their formula, or if there was some snafu where there was a mistake made when producing the caramel and lime – like a sort of cross-contamination.

My BFF lives in Nevada – I told her I’m going to see if I can get some answers for her, plus look around here to see if the ‘old’ bottles are still available here, since they’ve all been replaced with the new ones where she lives near Reno.

Do any of you drink Southern Comfort? And if so, have you had the lime, and have you had the ‘new’ lime recently? And if so (again), have you noticed a difference in the aroma and/or flavor? I’d be curious to see if anyone else has run into this issue.

I did tweet Southern Comfort a question about it, but haven’t gotten an answer. I think I’m gonna have to go into nag mode to find out. After all, I don’t want my BFF to be sad, right?

It’s time once again for Rory Bore’s Tuesday Chat!

This week’s prompt or question is:

“I am so done with Winter!!! Show me your Spring. Please be advised: I still got snow.”

Poor thing. She really should come to Washington, where the skies are always blue and the grass is always green. Here, Rory, feast your eyes on this, from out in my yard:

Spring2015b

I’ll share more signs of spring tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday. Because I can.

Is spring showing up in your neck of the woods?

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

Sorry, no Southern Comfort in this household. I love that ‘nag mode’, I am sure they’ll get back to you – eventually. Enjoy your spring break with the hubs!

  2. Not a southern Comfort fan. I do like the occasional shot of Fireball Whiskey though.
Not really terribly spring like here. Things are trying to grow, but no flowers yet and we have snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

  3. I volunteer to taste the alcohol!! 🙂
well, since I am going on a mini vacation too. it seems fitting.
I used to drink Southern Comfort and 7Up in my younger days; but pretty sure that would be very sweet now. We used to mix it with lemonade too and I think that would go good with the lime flavour.
LOVE the tulips! Oh, I am weeks away from mine coming up. thanks for sharing yours. 🙂

  4. I am amazed and fascinated by that clutch. Who comes up with this stuff, and why? I can imagine one of those soccer mom you see on the news? Or maybe a corporate bean counter? I don’t know. But, maybe it is useful for some.
Your tulips are beautiful. mine are still growing. We’ll get there!
