At the beginning of the Winter Break, the full two weeks off with kids and hubby home seemed to stretch ahead like a lifetime. Now that they’re all back to a normal schedule again, it seemed to have blipped by ultra fast. Anyone else feel that way?

I trust you all had a great Christmas/Hanukkah/Insert-Holiday-Celebration-Here and New Year, right? We had the plague hit our household, so needless to say when it came to present opening on both Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, I didn’t end up taking pics of the kids opening their gifts.

I did, however, give them 100% attention so who cares if it wasn’t saved digitally for infamy, right? At least I have my memories. 

After the ruckus of ripping paper and exclamations of “It’s just what I’ve always wanted!” died down, I did manage to capture Blackspot, who decided one of Princess Nagger’s discarded boxes of tissue and wrapping paper looked like the comfiest place in the room:

Some days I’d love to lead the life of a cat. Blackspot is definitely quite the character.

Speaking of characters… Raven Carrington posted this picture on her Facebook wall:

With this accompanying text:

“Holy crap-a-dactyl!!
I never realized how big a grizzly paw is!! No the bear isn’t dead. He’s just very friendly. (I’m joking). He is sedated for tagging purposes.”

I had no idea grizzly paws were that big, did you? Makes those that survived getting attacked and/or mauled even more impressive with their survival skills. I sure wouldn’t want to run into that massive paw or claws!

How cool would that be to live in a place where a deer makes himself comfy on a dog bed on the back deck? I’m sure that’s most likely photoshopped, but it’s still cool to dream of the possibilities.

  3. Sounds like y’all had a good Christmas. I’m with you it all blinked by entirely too fast and I’m quite certain this new year will follow suit…it always does, doesn’t it? I’ve been in a grand funk of some sort most of the Christmas season. I took very few pictures, so there isn’t much for me to share digitally, either. I need to kick my backside into gear this year to get back into the game (i.e. the land of the living). I just don’t know what’s wrong with me! Things I enjoy just don’t give me a happy sense anymore. I’m gonna shake off this crazy mood that I’ve been in for the last several months and find my way again. Here’s hoping 2015 brings good things to our lives!

I think it’s part of the post-holiday blues that does that, Cathy – and I imagine the fact that Christmas shows up in stores during the final summer months doesn’t help any…when it’s gone, it’s gone and it’s kinda depressing when it is. 🙂 Here’s to 2015 being a phenomenal year for both of us! 🙂

  6. Stacy, I hope you and your crew are all on the mend.
    I saw a video of a young deer and a dog playing. That was before the deer had his rack. Wonder if it’s the same deer, might be.
    Regarding the cat, I had to really look to find it, kind of like Where’s Waldo.
    And that bear paw, ughhhhh. Creepy. So glad we just have black bears where I live.

      You know, I think I saw that video, too – wouldn’t it be cool if that was the same deer?? 🙂

      LOL! I was wondering if anyone would end up in a ‘Where’s Waldo’ situation on that picture – it’s probably why he stayed in the box even though the dogs kept getting too close for comfort at times. He figured he was pretty much invisible. 😉

    Yes, these 2 weeks flew by. I know J-Man was very disappointed to have to go back to school yesterday.

    So, I think I’ll just visit grizzly bears in the zoo. Those paws are huge!
