First Monday of spring!  Hope Mother Nature is smiling on you like she’s been us, since we had gorgeous weather over the weekend (no rain and lots of sunshine!) and today we’ll even be basking in the warmth of 69 degrees!  Sorry about the snow coming tomorrow to my PA and Northeast peeps.  Hopefully you’ll thaw out soon!

This week’s musical theme is yet another freebie, as so designated by our previous Spotlight Dancer Steve of bethere2day so we can pick and choose whatever we like. We’re going to start off with one of my favorite artists who, based on this latest video, could use a little help in performing household chores.  Ahem.

This video was released on Valentine’s Day, and begins with a phone conversation with the artist’s wife, offering to make her dinner.  “I think it’d be good for me,”  he insists. “Fan the flames a little bit.”   I’m pretty sure he wasn’t thinking in terms of the full-on ‘flames’ he ultimately ended up with.

While his well-intended efforts start out well, with only a spilled margarita and slightly burned hand to deter him, he continues by cleaning up the house and starting a bubble bath for his wife, complete with a path of rose petals.  But, unfortunately, things don’t go as planned.  I won’t ruin the ending for you, just watch the hilarious video.

BlakeShelton

This is his fourth single from his No. 1 ‘Based On a True Story…’  album – here’s the amazingly talented and cutie-patootie Blake Shelton with “Doin’ What She Likes”:

Next up is a song that was released this past October by another favorite artist, whose third studio album is being released tomorrow, March 25th (I’ve already pre-ordered my copy).  It’s an interesting video that’s kind of ‘out there’ like this artist likes to be at times.

It starts off with him at the bar with some buddies and a beautiful bartender (naturally), where he’s decided he’s ready for ‘something different’.  So the bartender pours a milky-white shot (I thought it was milk – you know, it does the body good and all).

The video then features an all white set for the first half, before a black drop of liquid falls into a white martini glass, changing the colors in the video.  The song – and video – fit well with this artist’s party-hard style.

JerrodNiemann

Here’s the inimitable Jerrod Niemann with “Drink To That All Night”:

Next up is a fun duo whose top hit last summer Princess Nagger and I liked cranking the volume for while we were driving cross-country.  This new song is just as fun, and adds another of our favorite artists to the mix.

The duo is showing off how they roll with a little help from their friends in this funky new music video.  Featuring not only fellow country star Luke Bryan, but also X Games champion Travis Pastrana and The Nitro Circus.

The video was filmed in the desert outside of Los Angeles and begins with the duo and Luke Bryan stopping their semi on the side of the road to help out their stranded X Games pals.  The party moves to the trailer and of course later the X Games champs show off their jaw-dropping tricks.

FloridaGeorgiaLine

Give a listen to Florida Georgia Line featuring Luke Bryan with “This Is How We Roll”:

Last, but certainly not least, is a song that I’m loving for the impending summertime.  Sure, it’s just barely spring, and some of you are still in the frigid grip of Old Man Winter, but maybe this will bring some warmth and sunshine by way of your computer screen.

Since this artist was born and raised in Florida, it’s no surprise that he happens to like having sand between his toes.  In fact, when he married his gorgeous wife, they were married on the beach barefoot.

This song is a love story, sort of.  Really, what this song is about is a lazy day on the coast.  The warmth, the flavors and the smells seep through the speakers with every word from this artist’s sexy lips.

With lyrics such as “So just watchin’ her blonde hair, sunburn, stare at them white caps rolling over / Laid back in a thrift store beach chair, droppin’ limes in her Corona / Well she looks back, yeah, she throws me a kiss like, honey I sure want you / And it’s a hundred and three between her and me and only 92 in Daytona”.

This song, like another of my favorites of his, leans on a huge chorus:

“And it’s sunshine, blue eyes, tan lines, so tight / Rollin’ white sand, cold can koozie in my hand, just a summertime strollin’ / Chillin’, breezin’, sippin’, singin’ whoaoaoh / Beachin.”

JakeOwen2

Without further ado, I give you the hunky Jake Owen with “Beachin'”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday, and Happy Spring!
