Lord love a duck. Christmas is coming and I’m not ready! Well, OK I do have 21 days, but I’d much rather not cut it too close for comfort. And yes, my math is correct – we do the family celebration on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day is for the fat man in the red suit.
Such a tragedy about Paul Walker being killed this weekend:
He had recently celebrated his 40th birthday – what a sobering reminder that life is definitely short. When it’s your time to go, it’s your time. I wonder how many conspiracy theories will start to pop up because of the suddenness of his passing, especially a mere two days after he was a victim of a death hoax.
It’s a very small condolence, but chances are he died a happy camper in that gorgeous fast car, plus he was with a close friend so he didn’t die alone. My heart breaks for the families left behind, especially Paul’s 15 year old daughter, Meadow. May he Rest In Peace.
Moving on to happy things… My nieces are excited about a tree house my brother is building for them. Since they have what would be considered ‘view’ property – where the steep slope behind the house is greater than the flat surfaces of the front and back yard (a small price to pay for an amazing view of Puget Sound), they don’t have any tree-house-worthy trees on their property. So what does my creative brother do? Build a ‘tree’ house in the unused/wasted space under the deck, of course:
Making progress! The deck is 20-feet high, so there’s plenty of room for creativity. I wonder if it should be called a ‘deck house’ instead of a ‘tree house’. Something to ponder. That window in front has an amazing view of the sound, too.
It doesn’t look like it from here, but along with a back door, it will have a traditional door-in-the-floor, a small kitchen and a Futon. Oh, and a pulley system so they can send stuff down from the upper deck. The twins are lucky girls. Maybe we should move into the tree house until our house sells in PA, y’think?
In other news… Taylor Swift was asked to perform at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s abode for the 2013 Winter White Gala charity event last Tuesday, so she brushed up on her palace etiquette, but assumed she wouldn’t meet the royals. What she didn’t expect was a little stage time with superstar Bon Jovi and Prince William, all while belting out ‘Livin’ on a Prayer.’
She was escorted to the stage where Bon Jovi stood with his acoustic guitar, led by none other than the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace himself. They stood on either side of Bon Jovi, and as the rocker began belting out the lyrics to his signature song, both Taylor and Princes William sang along at the appropriate places.
Taylor Swift went all out with her singing and dancing, obviously having the time of her life, and at one point during the song, she and Prince William gave each other a double high five as the crowd cheered on.
Here, check it out for yourselves:
Could you imagine? How fun would that have been?

I don’t know how it is that this is my 2nd time to link up in the first slot, but I did! 🙂 Now, that treehouse or deckhouse is really super cool. I ALWAYS wanted a treehouse, but NEVER got it. Of course, we had no trees on my parents’ property. However, we had plenty of trees in the mountains surrounding our little community. All of my favorite buds and I had a blast tramping up & down the hillside: swinging from vines, climbing trees. exploring caves, and looking for dinosaurs (well, the dinosaurs part is what my brother did). The absence of a treehouse didn’t scare me emotionally and turned out okay in the end…or at least I think I did.
You just don’t get to be any more public of a figure than Prince William and yet even while having “fun” he’s still too stiff. But, I’m sure that’s because he’s in public and doesn’t want to embarrass the Royal Family. I wonder, if he lets his hair down with Lady Kate? That’s something we may NOT ever know.
Thanks for keeping Randomnation moving forward each Tuesday!

We didn’t have a tree house worthy tree either, so we built a fort for the boys. They get it in summer and winter it becomes a shed. A win for both of us.

I’m so sad about Paul Walker too – what a handsome dude, and didn’t seem to be the type to get sucked in by the Hollywood crazy train despite his big-screen fame. Rest peacefully, Paul.

Been a huge paul walker fan since he was in The Skulls. He was a perfect pairing/original opposite for vin diesel in the Fast series. It’s a shame he died so young.
