You know, after having your own  place for approximately 80-million years (<– exaggeration), you kind of forget how nice it is not to be in someone else’s house, no matter how temporary the situation is – even your own parents.  Let’s just say that when the hubby became gainfully employed once again, I had dreams of getting way more done – only now I get a whole different set of interruptions.

I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but I literally haven’t had time to do more than post a few random Facebook status updates and whip out a few blog posts – anything computer time beyond that is an impossibility.  For now.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel – our house is finally on the market, so we’re hoping that we can be moved and settled by Christmas – that would be the best Christmas present ever.  Well, OK, next best – because I don’t want the hubby to think he doesn’t have to get me anything this year if we get all moved in to the new house and all.  Presents are always good.

I don’t know about you, but lately the spammers seem to be coming out enforce.  Is it perhaps ‘the season of spammers’ or something?  Wonder if they have their own carols – we know they already have their own decorations by way of plastering their spammy-ness all over the comment section.  Luckily mine get siphoned out by way of Askimet, but holy moly those spammy bots are persistent!

I saw there were 35 messages in my siphoned spam folder, and not 10 minutes later, there were close to 300!  Usually I’ll go through them to make sure an important one doesn’t get siphoned out, but this time I just deleted all of them with one fell swoop.  I might have exclaimed “Hi-YAH!” when I did.  Just sayin’.

Speaking of spammy people…  Remember I posted this picture last week about our storage unit and the stuff stored in it (you know, like 95% +/- of all our earthly possessions)?

StorageWars

Yeah, that one.  I had to laugh when I saw this spam comment:

“My garage looks like your picture. I was thinking of getting a storage unit to help de-clutter everything. Have you ever thought of getting one?”

Well DUH,  dude.  It is a storage unit.  The comment came from a self-storage place, naturally.  Maybe they need reading glasses?  Of course now I’ll probably get spammed by a glasses store.

In other news… I saw this on Facebook last week, and while it’s genius as a basic idea, I still can’t get over the actual ‘ewwww’ factor:

MossRug

It’s been around for a few years – a bathmat made primarily from moss (that gets watered when you step out of the shower).  I wonder if it ever went into production or if anyone has purchased one?  Inquiring minds want to know.  Wouldn’t be something I’d ever have in my bathroom, thankyouverymuch.

Did you hear?  My girl, Kelly Clarkson got married this weekend:

She looks gorgeous and happy – seems like so long ago when she was the very first American Idol winner, doesn’t it?

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome – random or not. Be sure to visit your fellow randomizers so they don’t feel so lonely.

  1. Oh my Askimet logged over a thousand spam comments just last week. It was nuts!!! They got their dates wrong because they are missing all the big holi-dates coming up! There is no way you could get me to step out of a shower onto moss. Nope! Living with others can be so very hard, so very hard!!! Did it for nearly 7 months while hubby was deployed. Not thinking I will repeat that, ever!

    Kelly is a beautiful woman!!

  2. I hear you on the spammers! A WEIRDLY high number. I had to readjust my settings on Typepad, which helped a ton. It all just seems so moronic to me. I love Kelly Clarkson’s gown, very lovely. But I have to say, I’m a bit intrigued by that moss mat. Maybe in a very sparse, spa-like bathroom with natural stone walls? Or maybe in an outdoor shower? Yeah, that would be cool.

  3. I use Askimet as well, and am extremely grateful for it.

Spam seems to come in waves; for awhile there I was getting 20 or 30 spam comments a day, then all of a sudden – boom! Over 200. After a bit, it dropped back down, but I expect it will explode again soon.

  4. It is tough living with other people even your most dearly beloved family after you have already Grown Wings and built a nest of your own. I must agree with EWE factor of that mossy bathmat. Hope your days great.

  5. That bath mat is kind of ooky. Wouldn’t last in our climate either–we are way too dry, even if we take daily showers, there’s just not enough moisture in the air to keep it alive and dead moss defeats the purpose.

  6. Eeep… I don’t think I could handle that bath mat, either!!

LOVED seeing Kelly Clarkson’s wedding pictures. She looks beautiful, and SO happy. I love that the cancelled their big plans and went with a low-key affair. I wish her and her new husband the best!! 🙂

  7. Thanks for sharing Kelly’s wedding pics. I saw a bit in the news, but the pic was on & instantly off so I couldn’t get a good glimpse. I’m so glad she lost the weight for her wedding. She’s too cute to be chubby & I hope it all works for her. Now that bathmat made of moss… I only have one word for you on that one. Ewwwwwwwwwww have a great day! Thanks for sharing.

  8. Love her dress and love the new look in boquets with the mini sunflowers… no more stuffy pink roses (which is what I had). How are the kids adapting in the new schools. Mine misses her old school and it’s killing me “did I make the right decision in moving?” that kind of thing. I hate moving and I know you will be glad when you finally have your own space again.

  9. I want the moss!!!!! I have never seen such a thing. If I get to work now, maybe I can use them for Christmas gifts in 2014.

I didn’t realize you and Kelly were that close and you got an invite. 😉

Three cheers for finding your own space!
