Ah, Monday.  The last Monday before school starts for Princess Nagger.  So of course there’s the mad dash to do some last minute things before her summer break comes to an end and she’s subjected to learning in a controlled environment.

As for me, I’ll miss her cute little mug each day, eye rolling and all.  I suppose I should document these times so I can reflect back on them when she hits the teenager years and her eye rolling won’t be quite as endearing.  Oh wait, I do.  It’s called a blog.

Along with Monday’s comes some great music – and since this week is a freebie week, it’s an eclectic mix of great music.  And I mean that literally.  You’ll see.

First, let’s start with a fun young band who surprised me with how much I love their music.  You know you love them too – here’s One Direction with “What Makes You Beautiful”:

Next up is a new one by Alanis Morissette – she keeps them coming, doesn’t she?  Love her.  Here she is with “Numb”:

Next up is a fun song by one of my favorite country groups, Pistol Annies – this song is a tongue-in-cheek, autobiographical celebrating everything the self-help books warn against — cigarettes, pills, booze, truck-stop burgers, fries, and the like.  Here they are with “Takin’ Pills”:

Next up is a new (to me) artist who started following me on Twitter, so naturally I had to check her out, and fell in love with her music.  This music video cracked me up – I bet it will you, too.  Here’s the lovely Keeley Dodd with “Where Are All the Men”:

Next up is another group I love, with a song that gives me major goosebumps every time I listen to it.  Give a listen to Adelitas Way with “Alive”:

Last, but certainly not least, another group whose music is always fun to listen to, here’s Fun (featuring Janelle Monáe) with “We Are Young”:

Go ahead – set the world on fire.  I’ll carry you home tonight.

Now on to the particulars of Monday’s Music Move’s Me:

  2. I love you mix of rock and country this week! I am especially fond of the selections by One Direction & Fun – both songs I featured in the past months on MMMM.

Yeah, enjoy those eye rolls PN is giving you now coz I guarantee you won’t like them when she hits her teens. She’s innocent now with her gestures, but teens…oh heavens! It’s an ugly experience and one that has be dealt with a new level.

Thanks for getting me up to my feet this morning. Keep the music alive!
