We survived the hot and humid weekend – we actually got a slight break from the humidity portion of it for a few hours, so that was good.  Except the house is still  holding onto the heat – a positive for wintertime since it stays nice and warm but bad for hot humid summertime when it stays warm then, too.  I’ll just keep mentally willing fall to get here, since that’s my favorite season.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for some fun tunes.  This week’s theme is a freebie, so I’ve selected some of the songs that Princess Nagger and I enjoyed while on our road trip – it was fun not only having her as my co-pilot, but amusing when she would hear a song start and tell me to crank it up so we could sing along.

Let’s start off with a new (to me) group Parmalee, who describe their sound as “the country side of rock”.  Their debut album for their new label is expected in the coming months. The first taste of the project is the infectious “Musta Had a Good Time”, recently voted the No. 1 song on Sirius/XM radio station the Highway’s Top 30 countdown (which Princess Nagger and I got to witness firsthand).

Here they are with Musta Had A Good Time” (this official video isn’t premiering until 3am Eastern (in a few hours), so this is followed by one you can actually listen to before then if you’re a night-owl stopping by before 3am):

For those stopping by earlier than 3am Eastern, you can at least listen to it here:

From the band: “‘Musta Had a Good Time’ describes that one epic party that all of us have either been to — or hope to go to — at some point in our lives,” says Matt. “It’s that one party that becomes a legend in a small town. The response that we get from fans when we play this song live is crazy — the fans know all the words and everyone’s dancing, and it becomes a party on stage and in the crowd. We’re finding out that there’s a lot of people out there who really like to have a good time.”

Next up is a song that came after his “accidental hit” Red Solo Cup, and is another country rocker from Toby Keith.  Here he is with “Beers Ago.”:

Next up is a favorite artist whom I’ve highlighted before – his newest hit is a song you’ll be singing along with by summer’s end, or now is good.  Here’s Rodney Atkins with “Just Wanna Rock ‘N Roll”:

This next new (to me) duo released their new five-song EP in May titled “It’z Just What We Do”.  Their debut single has already become a fan favorite live, since it sets the bar for a fun, summertime anthem for years to come.  Here’s Florida Georgia Line with “Cruise”:

Next up is a new song from another of my favorite artists – she recently filmed the official video which will be released later this summer (I can’t wait). The video will appropriately star NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.  Here’s Miranda Lambert with “Fastest Girl in Town”:

And last (but certainly not least) yet another of my favorite artists came out with a new song that both Princess Nagger and I love singing to.  I had to find out what the song meant, though, because the hubby was confused.

Bentley recently revealed to Taste of Country the meaning behind 5-1-5-0, “I had written this song on the beach one day and I said, ‘Let’s get 5150.'” Rock fans know it as a Van Halen album and song from 1986, but the ‘Free and Easy’ singer explains that it’s also the police code for a criminally insane person.

The song is featured on Dierks Bentley’s album ‘Home’.  Here he is with “5-1-5-0”:

And that’s a wrap. Enjoy your Monday!

  1. I love ya Stacy, but way too much country for me. LOL

Although I do like the first song you chose-It really is a little bit of rock mixed with country 🙂 The video was pretty neat, too!

I hope you have a musical week ^.^

  2. Love Love the first one I even sent it to Dave. You always put such rockin’ tunes. Lambert’s new one is great too. Love it. Thanks bunches my friend for making my song list longer. woo hoo ROCKIN’ THE HOUSE TODAY!

  3. Van Halen stated in interviews that they chose that for the name of their album because it was police code for the criminally insane. So VH actually did know what it meant, though I’m not sure all their fans picked up on it.

    Loved Cruise! Happy 4Ms!
