Tomorrow marks the official start to summer. You know, according to the calendar. Mother Nature has already been doling out the summer heat, though, with this week shaping up to be a scorcher:

Even though I’ve lived in PA the past 15 years, I still haven’t gotten used to the hot humid weather PA is prone to have every summer.Β  I’m much more used to (and definitely prefer) this kind of weather:

Thankfully we’ll be heading to this weather instead (granted not until the end of the week, but it gives you an idea of the difference).Β  We probably won’t want to leave once we get there.Β  I’m just sayin’.

Remember I mentioned I can be a procrastinator sometimes a lot?Β  Here’s some proof of the procrastinator mode:

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you – those are Christmas presents.Β  And a few birthday presents, since I figured I might as well get them all taken care of in one fell swoop. That I finally wrapped yesterday.Β  For my family and friends out West.Β

Because I never got around to wrap them and ship them in time for Christmas, or my usual M.O. of shipping them for New Year.Β  Ahem.Β  Since we decided to drive out for vacation this year and take both cars, I figured I might as well save the shipping costs and deliver them in person.Β  Christmas in June coming up.

I saw this on Facebook and it totally cracked me up:

Which reminded me of a picture I had downloaded off my old point-and-shoot camera I had given to Princess Nagger.Β  She and I were watching Sponge Bob together when a commercial came on and this was part of it:

Sorry about it being dark, but it really is hard to get a clear picture from the television screen.Β  It was a commercial advertising a show that was premiering later that night on Nickelodeon – we both cracked up when we saw the misspelling and had to pause it to get a picture.Β  Yes, we are easily amused, why do you ask?

Speaking of the OCD Princess Nagger, when we were grocery shopping last week and happened to be in the laundry detergent aisle, I saw her pause and count the mules to make sure there were 20:

Of course I had to have her pose with the box so I could take a picture with my phone.Β  Her response was “You’re going to blog about this, aren’t you?”Β  Yes, yes I am.Β  Especially since you will all be happy to know there are indeed 20 mules on the box.

This week is going to be a flurry of activity getting all the last minute stuff ready for our road trip.Β  Today I have a hair appointment, tomorrow morning is the monthly visit from the caseworker for Little Dude, after which Princess Nagger and I will go do our last minute shopping to pick up the snacks for the trip, then Thursday I’m going to get suitcases packed for me, Princess Nagger and Little Dude (hubby just throws his stuff in a duffel bag in like five minutes.Β  It’s a guy thing).Β

And I’m going to try to get my car all loaded up on Thursday, aside from the cooler and the stuff we’ll need Friday morning.Β  I figure if I can get it all done on Thursday, we’ll be able to leave early in the morning on Friday so we can get to our first stop while it’s still daylight.Β  After driving 11+ hours (not counting potty break and gas stops).Β  So if I seem a little scarcer than normal, or a little discombobulated as I’m hopping around the next few days, you’ll know why.

Next week I’ll be posting from the road – I’m sure there will be lots of blog fodder to keep us all entertained.Β  Meanwhile, link up, hop around and most importantly have fun. Β

    1. Yeppers, SueAnn – and that 11 hours is just the first of four legs. It’s going to be a LONG trip, but so worth it. That is quite a load of pressies, isn’t it? Glad to finally have them wrapped – and will be even more happy to have them delivered and bring smiles to faces. πŸ˜‰

  1. You are still doing better than I do when it comes to gifts. At least you wrap them. I just order everything online and let the company ship them. Works so much better for everyone.

    Have a very safe drive.

    1. I really need to start doing something like that – my friend in Nevada does that too. I did that once for my dad for his birthday, and they neglected to include the birthday card I had chosen to accompany the gift – so of course it confused my dad as to who sent it and why… πŸ˜‰

  2. WOW, can’t believe you’ve actually got Christmas presents ready! Every year I say I will start buying them earlier and be more organised. Every year that DOESN’T happen!
Good girl on counting those mules! πŸ™‚

  3. I heard both PA and NY were having super hot weather this week; Florida feels for you! And I HATE misspellings like that. I honestly cringe as if it were nails on a chalkboard. We were watching that awful Wife Swap show and the wife made the husband write a sign for his garage that said “No parties” but he wrote “party’s”. UGH! Have a good trip!!

    1. Heat index is supposed to be 105 to 110 – which means stifling and the kind of heat it’s hard to catch your breath. I wouldn’t mind if we had central air, but our little window units work hard enough to keep it in the 80’s inside the house when it gets that hot outside…and 80’s inside is definitely not cool enough for me. πŸ˜‰ I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets bugged by blatant misspellings! Nice to know me and Princess Nagger aren’t alone. πŸ˜‰

  4. Sweet baby Hay Zeus, it’s hot where you live! Ack. It his 70 here yesterday and it felt positively tropical. Of course it’s been in the upper 50’s to low 60’s for highs, so 70 is pretty warm.
Those are a lot of presents. Do you need my mailing address? πŸ™‚
How much do I love your kid? Counting the mules! Sheer awesome.

    BTW, I’m back, baby!

    1. OK, that does it – I’m moving in with you until this heat passes (you know, September) is that OK with you? πŸ˜‰ I’ll bring presents – and wine. πŸ˜‰ I’ll pass along your sheer awesome compliment to the Princess Nagger – she’s going to appreciate it and encourage me to blog more about her. That’s a win/win in my book!

Very glad to have you back! You’ve been missed! πŸ™‚

  5. The cartoon cracked me up, but it’s not necessarily true – it was late afternoon yesterday when I realized I’d left the “L” out of “chocolate”. In the blog title, no less…and no one said a thing. Go figure.

    1. I totally missed the missing “L”! Which when it’s typed like that, looks like two eyebrows and a nose. Or at least until I click reply, then the other font will probably make it not look like that. πŸ˜‰ I’ve discovered my own misspellings on posts – and like a good OCD girl, made sure I corrected them the minute I discovered them – I did make an error in a title once, so of course the permalink still has it wrong. But luckily no angry mob got me. πŸ˜‰

  6. The bottom picture of the weather is our usual–we have been warmer and drier for the last week too, but only in the low 80s.
Have fun on your trip–our first day will be something similar to yours, only we are all in one car and no dog. And we are going in August.

    1. So YOU are the one hogging all the ‘good’ weather…can you please send some our way and chase away this nasty heat and humidity? Pretty please? πŸ™‚ Oooh – road trip in August – where to? That’s the hottest month here (yes, even worse than this week’s heat) maybe we should have thought to travel to a cooler locale then instead. πŸ˜‰

    1. Right now I’d take rain – as long as it’s cool – over the heat and humidity that’s blanketing our area right now. πŸ™‚ It might rain while we’re in your neck of the woods next week, but I’m so not going to mind. I’d rather be wet from rain than from sweat any day! πŸ˜‰

  7. I live North of the border, and we’re in for the same weather! HOT HOT HOT all week long! I love it!

I wish I was going on a road trip *sigh*…One more month until I get my first one of the summer! It will be shorter than yours – only a 4-hour drive…but I just can’t wait to get outta Dodge for a few days! Have a great trip πŸ™‚

    1. You’re welcome to join us on our road trip to Seattle, Connie – could turn out to be quite the adventure! πŸ˜‰

I HATE when it’s 80 degrees at 7am. HATE. And I never use that word. Except when it’s necessary. Like now. πŸ˜‰ Here it is after midnight and we’ve hit our ‘low’ for the night – 77. Not ‘low’ in my book!

    1. Too hot for me, too – I echo your sentiment of not liking the sticky, ecky heat! πŸ˜‰ People do get reprimanded on bad language art skills, don’t they? And sometimes the person doing the reprimanding uses the worst spelling and grammar possible. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the prayers – I know I’m going to need them. πŸ™‚

    1. That’s what I love about you – we’re so much alike. Just like Princess Nagger. πŸ˜‰ And no worries – I’ll be back. (said in my worst Schwarzenegger impersonation). You don’t know HOW much I’m looking forward to my plans in August – I can’t wait! πŸ™‚

  8. I’d rather be hot than cold but I am NOT looking forward to triple digit temps and we’re getting pretty close. It’s miserably hot outside by 11:00am.

Christmas in June sounds fun! I think we should all do that! =)

Have so much fun on your trip. I still can’t believe you’re taking 2 cars. Drive safe! Take some walkie talkies! HA! I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

    1. I’d rather be just right than too hot or too cold…LOL! The part I do like about colder weather is you can layer to stay warm (or just right) but when it’s too hot, you can only take so many clothes off – and for me, that’s a scary prospect. πŸ˜‰

Christmas in June is definitely less stressful! I used to have my Un-Birthday on June 9th since it got lost in the shuffle between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year (December 9th). I haven’t done in forever – might have to resurrect that!

We have something better than walkie talkies – cell phones! πŸ˜‰ Not to worry, I’ll be updating as we go along – just keep checking back for the fun! πŸ˜‰

  9. Both of those forecasts just look so so to me- the first is too hot the second too cold– I want just right πŸ™‚

    1. I love 60 – and 70 degree weather – when it gets to be in the 80’s and 90’s with extra annoying humidity, I get cranky. πŸ™‚

Hard to believe Christmas is only 6 months away! I’ve already started using the ‘You better be good if you want Santa to bring you gifts’ argument with the kids when they’re not being so good… πŸ˜‰

You bet I’ll be smiling pretty! πŸ˜‰

  11. I’m feelin’ ya on the heat, Stacy! I also live in PA…about 15 minutes from King ofPrussia. It is looking like a hot and sticky few days ahead! Have a wonderful and safe trip! It sounds like you have a lot of fun headed your way! Lots of love!

  12. Hahahaha! I have to say I would have counted the mules as well. And no matter how many times I read over and spell check my posts I always misspell something. LOL

  13. I’m not looking forward to this heat! ACK! And that is some world-class procrastination — I’m very impressed. I love that PN counted all the mules! Truth in advertising. Not jealous of your 11 hour car trip!! ACK!

    1. I love that you type “ACK!” like I do. πŸ˜‰ I should get an award for my world-class procrastination, shouldn’t I? πŸ˜‰ I’m not looking forward to the 11 hour drive – especially since it’s the first of 4, 4 days in a row. I better pack some extra bottles of wine for the nightly stops. πŸ˜‰
