A few weeks ago I posted about the Listerine Oral Care Challenge that we were participating in. We recently wrapped up the challenge, and I’m very proud to say that Princess Nagger has been a diligent trooper throughout. To refresh your memory, the challenge included us to brush, floss, and use mouthwash twice a day every day for two weeks.
My previous routine was to brush two or three times every day, but floss? I was terrible about flossing. I’d step it up about a month before my semi-annual teeth cleaning, but as an every day routine, it was non-existent. Princess Nagger has some fun dino floss picks, so she was more consistent than me (of course she has a lot of gaps at the moment, in between baby and adult teeth making flossing a much easier prospect than my tight-fitting teeth).
I was impressed with the Reach floss (the Whitening kind on a spool) because while the floss itself was soft, even with my teeth being so crammed together with barely any space for floss, it didn’t shred on me like other floss has. Princess Nagger loved the berry flavored mouthwash (she’s not a fan of mint, though like the good trooper she is, she did give it a try but proclaimed it too minty).
Along with my previous lackluster performance with floss, I’ve always used mouth wash simply as a breath fresher. Little did I know that mouthwash actually does much more than freshen up your breath – rinsing twice daily gives your mouth 24 hours of protection against plaque and gingivitis germs. Since Princess Nagger has been brushing, flossing and rinsing twice daily with me, it’s eliminated her dragon breath, thank goodness.
Thanks to the Listerine Oral Care Challenge, brushing and rinsing twice daily has now become a regular part of Princess Nagger and my daily routine – we’re still reserving the flossing for our bedtime routine. But at least it’s a daily occurrence instead of just the month before our teeth cleaning appointments. I bet our hygienist is going to be a happy camper on our next appointment. Are you a flosser and a swisher, or do you tend to brush’n’go like I used to?
