Princess Nagger and I finally got our Christmas Tree decorated:

In an effort to thwart the Little Dude from absconding with the ornaments off the tree, I put our smaller 6-1/2 foot tree on a table to keep it out of reach.  Good thing our ceilings are 10-foot ceilings.

I used to do the tree with all white lights, and all silver and gold decorations.  After the arrival of Princess Nagger, the tree has morphed into an eclectic mix of unique and interesting decor:

Old ‘friends’:

Were joined by new ones:

Princess Nagger has a thing about birds.  They’re the modern day dinosaur you know.  We also added this guy:

This cool little Santa controls the lights on the tree – you simply blow on his candle to turn them off or on.  Princess Nagger and Little Dude get a kick out of seeing it work.  So he’s a little higher up on the branches so they’re not constantly turning the lights on and off, huffing and puffing on the tree like the Big Bad Wolf.

A few hours later I finally had some presents wrapped to put under the tree and table:

The paper strips you see hanging from the tree skirt were taped on there by Princess Nagger – before I infiltrated the space under the table, she was using it as her cat lair/nest.  She was (momentarily) mad at me when I took her lair over, but got over it when she realized some of those presents are for her.  I still have a lot yet to do in the gift wrapping department, hence the pile’o’stuff and scads of paper to the right.  Hopefully it’ll be done by Christmas.

How are your decorations coming along?  Or am I so far behind that you’ve been enjoying yours for a couple of weeks by now?

I put the tree up Sat., hubbie put on lights Sunday night, Monday I found 40 ornaments and put them up, and then Tuesday afternoon? The boys came home and put all the rest on the tree together. So the 2/3rds of the bottom of the tree was decorated. I re arranged the top lastnight. Today a box arrived at the door. YAY!

  5. we also have very eclectic ornaments on our tree. I’ve just been handed down ornaments from my parents tree and then we’ve added the ones we’ve been gifted as well plus the ones Leo has done at school. I like our Charlie Brown Christmas tree though!

And I like your idea of the tree on a table. In a few years I may have to put that idea to use.

  6. I’m not decorating this year, but not because I’m a grinch. I’m just enjoying the decorations in my neighborhood and the photos on blogs. I thought about decorating, and then I thought about putting everything away afterwards; and I decided on a big fat NO to doing the work. I can use the big fat NO in my own favor whenever I want because my kids are grown up. Our tree also evolved as the kids got older because every time we went on a trip, I purchased one or two ornaments at our destination. It’s fun to look at your tree and remember vacations taken as a family.
