The 80’s sure had some great – and unique – music, didn’t they?  My best friend Peggy could tune into an 80’s station and be the happiest camper alive.  So when I saw that this week’s theme for Monday’s Music Moves me is 80’s music, I tuned into Peggy.  You know what I mean.

I was having (too much) fun going through the top 100 songs of the 80’s while trying to narrow it down to just a few, so many songs brought back so many memories.

I’ve been pretty heavy-handed with Country Music lately, but I have a confession to make – I didn’t like Country Music in the 80’s.  That same best friend introduced me to New Country (aka Contmporary Country – where a lot of songs are cross-overs to Pop). in the 90’s.  But she still rocks out to (non-country) 80’s music like I do whenever possible.

First up is a song that speaks for itself – Joan Jett and the Blackhearts “I Love Rock’n’Roll”:

Bon Jovi has always been a favorite of mine, so we can’t leave out “Livin’ On a Prayer”:

And of course there’s Duran Duran with “Hungry Like the Wolf”:

Another favorite Guns N’ Roses with “Sweet Child of Mine”:

Last, but definitely not least, The Bangles with “Walk Like An Egyptian”:

I double-dog dare you to walk like an Egyptian today.  Enjoy your Monday!

  1. Man you gotta know I love each & everyone of these and as far as Bon Jovi is concerned he can park his slippers under my bed any time. Woo Hoo! Have a great day girlfriend!

  2. All great picks! I was a HUGE Duran Duran fan in the 80s. Back in those days I loved all New Wave stuff. Now, I’m reliving my youth listening to 1st Wave on XM.

As always, thanks for the MM plug and for your support. xox

  3. I was an 80’s girl myself…graduated high school in 1989…so I am all about some 80’s music. Love all those songs! I also love torturing my boys my forcing them to listen to XM channel 8 in the car. When, exactly, did our music become the oldies?! sigh…

  4. Oh, my gosh talk about a blast from the past but I enjoyed EVERY.SINGLE. ONE!!!!! Gosh, I had forgotten all about Walk Like an Egyptian, so glad it will be stuck in my head for the day lol

My GF went to a Duran Duran concert in CA a few nights ago, but she wasn’t a guest. She was working as a manager there!

I almost chose that Walk like an Egyptian 🙂

    Love your tunes!

  7. I remember how long the song “walk like an Egyptian” was stuck in my mind. I find the chorus hypnotizing and I liked humming it to myself over and over during my younger days. A lot of the songs here brought fun memories and I am grateful for that. Thank you for sharing them.

  8. walk like an Egyptian! I remeber that, I got in trouble in the school play for doing the dance at a stage where we were all dancing.

Thinking about it I dont know where the teachers got off with that really, its was hardly crimina and everyone knew the dance back then.
