Welcome to Monday, where Monday’s don’t have to be mundane, because we’ve got a whole lotta fun for you to enjoy! How’s that for positive thinking? Mother Nature sure has been dishing up the heat this year so far – giving us our usual Hot, Humid and Sticky weather early instead of waiting until her usual hot flash in August. I’m not looking forward to what she’ll actually be dishing us in August.
I might have to move to the North Pole before then, just to keep cool. And besides, playing with Santa’s reindeer might be fun, no? When the heat index hovers at 110 degrees for days in a row, I get all wilty. Especially without central air, I tend to migrate to the rooms that have window units, just to stay sane. Which means I make a wide berth from the kitchen, because 90+ in the kitchen does not a sane person make.
Let’s heat things up figuratively, shall we? This week’s Music theme is TV Show Theme Songs – how fun is that? I’m of course going to go with eclectic, or whatever you might call it, but let’s start off with one of my favorites, the new Hawaii Five-0 (and if you haven’t caught this updated show version, you really must – just for the yumminess that is Alex O’Loughlin – on second thought, maybe a move to Hawaii would be more fun than the North Pole for the eye candy and hanging out on those beautiful beaches). The new show uses the original shows theme song, but updated:
Is it just me, or do most newer shows not really have a specific theme song? While this isn’t it’s actual theme song, it was the song used for it’s promo for the newest season of Burn Notice – another show that if you’re not watching, you’re really missing out. To the tune of “Burning Down the House”:
And who doesn’t like the original CSI’s theme song by The Who, “Who Are You?” (note: some images are not appropriate for little eyeballs – or the faint of heart):
Let’s dig into the one-hit-wonder archives and pull up a theme song from a short-lived show (another one that the suits at the networks cancelled in infancy…) from the 90’s – The Heights with “How Do You Talk To An Angel”:
And while we’re still visiting the 90’s, what about Ally McBeal, with Vonda Shepard’s hit “Searching My Soul”:
Last, but certainly not least, a song that will never be forgotten, the theme song from F•R•I•E•N•D•S – from The Rembrandts – “I’ll Be There For You”. I love this video, because it’s the official music video (remember those days, when MTV actually had music videos?) that The Rembrandts made incorporating the cast from F•R•I•E•N•D•S – it’s hilarious:
I’ll be there for you, my most amazing virtual friends! Enjoy your Monday!

Fun picks! Thanks for the MM shout out! 🙂
The Friends theme will always be one of the best… of all time.
The Rembrandt’s played live on a Seattle radio station once and the station taped it. They then compiled all their lives shows into a cd. They did this every year. I think the proceeds went to a charity. Anyway we have the cd that has the Rembrandt’s on it. It is still one of our favorites.
Yes, Hawaii Five-0! I used to watch that when I was little. Happy Monday.
