The weekend went by in a flurry of activity – apparently I’ve accumulated more stuff than even I need.   Luckily the attic was welcoming to the piles’o’stuff from various rooms and finally the house doesn’t resemble a bad episode of Hoarders.  Not that it actually did, but in my neat-nick mind, it was definitely borderline.  Or maybe just over that borderline.  Ahem.

Between the mini tornado that is Princess Nagger, and the Absent Minded Professor leaving things willy nilly (and yes, I adopted their ‘Oh well’ attitude and joined them in their mess making) I was going quite daft with the disorganization.  The awesome unbloggable forced our hand to get it completely clean and organized, and Princess Nagger happily moved into what was once the guest room (and being used as storage for my overload of excess stuff).  Once the unbloggable becomes bloggable, you’ll understand why the sudden flurry of activity over the last couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, today we get to enjoy some music, thanks to Xmas Dolly and her tribe of Monday’s Music Moves Me, along with Lady Java and Run DMT who each host their own version of Music Monday.  We can all use a little music on a Monday, right?  this week is a freebie week, so I thought I’d share a couple of my favorites – starting with Billy Currington’s ‘People are Crazy’ – because, well, they are!

People are Crazy
Billy Currington

This old man and me, were at the bar and we…
Were having us some beers and swappin’ I-don’t-cares
Talking politics, blonde and redhead chicks
Old dogs and new tricks, and habits we ain’t kicked
We talked about God’s grace, and all the hell we raised
Then I heard the ol’ man say
God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

He said I fought two wars, been married and divorced
What brings you to Ohio, he said damned if I know
We talked an hour or two, ’bout every girl we knew
What all we put them through, like two old boys will do
We pondered life and death, he lit a cigarette
Said these damn things will kill me yet
But God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

Last call was 2 a.m., I said goodbye to him
I never talked to him again

Then one sunny day, I saw the old man’s face
Front page obituary, he was a millionaire
He left his fortune to some guy he barely knew
His kids were mad as hell, but me…I’m doing well
And I dropped by today, to just say thanks and pray
And I left a six-pack right there on his grave
And I said, God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

And how about a goosebump inducing new one from Trace Adkins, Just Fishin’:

Just Fishin’
Trace Adkins

I’m lost in her there holdin’ that pink rod and reel
She’s doin’ almost everything but sittin’ still
Talkin’ ‘bout her ballet shoes and training wheels
And her kittens
And she thinks we’re just fishin’

I say, “Daddy loves you, baby” one more time
She says, “I know. I think I got a bite.”
And all this laughin’, cryin, smilin’ dyin’ here inside’s
What I call, livin’

And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the riverside
Throwin’ back what we could fry
Drownin’ worms and killin’ time
Nothin’ too ambitious
She ain’t even thinkin’ ‘bout
What’s really goin’ on right now
But I guarantee this memory’s a big’in
And she thinks we’re just fishin’

She’s already pretty, like her mama is
Gonna drive the boys all crazy
Give her daddy fits
And I better do this every chance I get
‘Cause time is tickin’
(Yeah it is)

And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the riverside
Throwin’ back what we could fry
Drownin’ worms and killin’ time
Nothin’ too ambitious
She ain’t even thinkin’ ‘bout
What’s really goin’ on right now
But I guarantee this memory’s a big’in
And she thinks we’re just fishin’

She ain’t even thinkin’ ‘bout
What’s really goin’ on right now
But I guarantee this memory’s a big’in
And she thinks we’re just fishin’
Yeah, aww, she thinks we’re just fishin’
We ain’t only fishin’
(This ain’t about fishin’)

And for those of you who aren’t Country fans, I’m loving this song by OneRepublic:

Good Life
OneRepublic

Woke up in London yesterday
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly
Don’t really know how I got here
I got some pictures on my phone

New names and numbers that I don’t know
Address to places like Abbey Road
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want
We’re young enough to say

[Chorus]

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh

[Verse 2]

To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don’t know
Where I’ve been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Col-or-ado

Sometimes there’s airplanes I can’ t jump out
Sometimes there’s bullshit that don’t work now
We are god of stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

[Bridge 1]

When you’re happy like a fool
Let it take you over
When everything is out
You gotta take it in

[Chorus]

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
A good good life Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh

[Bridge 2]

Hopelessly
I feel like there might be something that I’ll miss
Hopelessly
I feel like the window closes oh so quick
Hopelessly
I’m taking a mental picture of you now
‘Cuz hopelessly
The hope is we have so much to feel good about

[Chorus]

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh

To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don’t know
Where I’ve been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Col-or-ado

Sometimes there’s airplanes I can’ t jump out
Sometimes there’s bullshit that don’t work now
We are god of stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

  1. Thanks for the wonderful song choices!!
And I know what you mean about the chaos growing in the house. Yikes! I have two of my grandkids this month and wowzers. What little hoarders they are! Ha! Everywhere there is new piles of stuff!! Need to try and tackle that this week!!
    Have a good one
    Hugs
    SueAnn

  2. Listening to a man and woman outside my front window having a very loud argument as I listen to People Are Crazy kinda hits it right on the button. Good Life is one of my favourite songs by OneRepublic, I have found myself at Picadilly a few times wondering how I got there!

  3. People ARE crazy, and I strongly suspect I’m one of them.

That reminds, me – I owe you an email. My bad.

  4. Everytime I hear that People are Crazy song, it makes me think of my dad!

All the others were very good music choices as well:)

  5. The unbloggable forcing you to be practical? You can’t really mind that, can you? It always takes something outside to force me into action on that stuff, too. Why is that?

  6. It takes all kinds to make up the world. I love your songs. They’re more settled down for me, but as I said before I’m getting such an education in music. It’s wonderful, but more so I believe I’m getting an education in people. Bloggers are such wonderful caring people & I hope they accept me as I do them just for teaching me there are really beautiful people out there, and you my friend are a beautiful caring person. Have a great day to you & your family.

  7. Joining you thi MMM. I’ve been soooo busy that it isn’t funny! I mean, I got my posts up today and am just now getting around to visiting my bloggy friends. Gee, talk about Manic Mondays? That’s what I have going on here. Anywho, have an awesome week, girl!

  8. Fun picks, mama! Thanks for the MM shout out! 🙂

When my friends and I all go out drinking, I have a few friends who always sing the line from the first song: “God is Great. Beer is Good. And people are Crazy.” I never heard the song before, so I didn’t know the reference. Now I get it and I really appreciate you sharing that with me. 😉

I love One Republic and everything by them!

BTW…I don’t know if you’ve heard yet, but Brad Paisley sings the song from the new Cars 2 movie. Just thought you’d like to know. 🙂

  9. Things are crazy here with the end of school upon us, and my fervent effort to deny that I have a freshman in high school living under my roof….but…I keep making sure to check in to see if the unbloggable has become bloggable for fear that I will miss some excitement! I am cringing a little that you relocated the hoard, but I am sure there is good reason why it wasn’t dealt with in a more sorting/purging way!

  10. Fun stuff! Cant wait to find out what is unbloggable . In the meantime want to come clean my house ;P I am jealous of your attic space – still looks like hoarders around here

  11. Everything you do it’s beyond me where you find the time to play along with us. You’re truly very special and besides love your taste in music. hugssssss You so rock!

  12. All 3 songs are new to me. I really like the “People are Crazy” one.
thanks for sharing. Finding a bar like that would be great. Very relaxed. I know a local bar that can be like that sometimes. Of course hanging out at the bar too much can be a problem. I dislike sports bars. I need a place were you can talk without shouting.

  13. We have twice as much attic space here as we did at the old house and it was so therapeutic to just dump loads of shit up there and forget about it. Right now, there are insulation guys up there spraying and I had to go up there and move all of that forgotten about shit around so they could spray. Sigh.

    Yay for the unbloggable!
