Why is it that Monday seems to be the most dreaded day of the week?  I suppose it’s partly because of it being the start of a new work week, or the ‘back to reality’ day after a flurry of activity over the weekend.  Luckily Monday’s don’t have to be so mundane with Monday’s Music Moves Me to entertain, along with some very fun Monday Hops.

This week MMMM is a freebie week, so naturally I chose a song from one of my favorite artists, Brad Paisley.  You saw that one coming, didn’t you?  His newest song, “Old Alabama” is pretty cool – especially since the band Alabama performs along with him.  Enjoy!

Old Alabama Lyrics
Brad Paisley

She’d rather wear a pair of cut-off jeans than a fancy evening dress,
And with her windows rolled down and her hair all blown around, she’s a hot southern mess…
She’ll take a beer over white wine and a campfire over candle light,
And when it comes to love, oh her idea of a romantic night…

Is listenin’ to old Alabama, drivin’ through Tennessee…
A little Dixieland Delight at the Right Time of the Night,
And she can’t keep her hands off of me-ee-eee!

And now we’re rollin’ down an old back road,
I got the steering wheel in one hand…
We’ll find a hideaway where she and I can play,
In Mother Nature’s band…

Now we’re listenin’ to old Alabama, parked somewhere in Tennessee…
A little Dixieland Delight and It Feels So Right,
And It’s Love In The First Degree-ee-eee!

Forget about Sinatra or Coltrane, or some ol’ Righteous Brothers song,

And Barry White ain’t gonna work tonight, if you really wanna turn her on;
Play some back home come on music that comes from the heart,
Play something with lots of feeling, ‘cause that’s where music has to start…

Now we’re listenin’ to Old Alabama, and we’re drivin’ through Tennessee,
A little Dixieland Delight and It Feels So Right and its Love in the First Degree…

Yeah’ you know we’re listenin’ to Old Alabama,(old Alabama) drivin’ through Tennessee, (Tennessee)
A little Why Lady Why at The Right Time of The Night
Oh and she can’t keep her hands off of me-ee-eee

Oh, play me some old Alabama,
Oh, play me some old Alabama…
Won’t you play me some old Alabama,
Play me some old Alabama…
Won’t you pla-ee-ay-ay
yeee-haw!!!

.

Since not everyone is a fan of Country Music, I also wanted to share one of my favorite performances by P!nk – from the recent Grammy’s, her beautiful song “Glitter In The Air”:

Glitter in the Air Lyrics
P!nk

Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands?
Closed your eyes and trusted, just trusted?
Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face and said, “I just don’t care”?

It’s only half past the point of no return
The tip of the iceberg
The sun before the burn
The thunder before the lightning
The breath before the phrase
Have you ever felt this way?

Have you ever hated yourself for staring at the phone?
You’re whole life waiting on the ring to prove you’re not alone
Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?

It’s only half past the point of oblivion
The hourglass on the table
The walk before the run
The breath before the kiss
And the fear before the flames
Have you ever felt this way?

La La La La La La La La

There you are, sitting in the garden
Clutching my coffee,
Calling me sugar
You called me sugar

Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight?
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself will it ever get better than tonight?
Tonight

Well?  Have you ever?

Enjoy your Monday!

  1. Yep, totally saw that one coming! lol But then, I would even know who Brad Paisley was or any of his music if you didn’t keep sharing it. I love how his song mixed in Alabama’s song too. That song actually came to mind when I read your title.

Pink’s performance at the Grammy’s has to be my favorite Grammy moment of all time. What a performance!

Love your glitter theme this week! What doesn’t love a little bling? 😉 Happy MM! And thanks for the MM shout out!

  2. nice…both of these were awesome…was great to see and hear the old alabama boys as i grew up with my father listening to them…and i love pink!

  3. I’ll tell ya you guys are really bringing me over to country. I didn’t know Alabama backed him on this song! Totally cool. I do love Alabama I must say. Pink goes without saying you know I luvs her big time. This is my favorite performance by her. She really shows her true showmanship in this performance vocally and otherwise. Great choices girlfriend. Thanks for playing along with us, and see ya next week.

  4. I know I’m out of my element here because I have not recognized any songs. I tried putting a video on my blog, but it didn’t work, and I have to go figure out why it won’t show up with the link. I’m your newest follower, and it is very nice to meet you.

  5. I second your words about Mondays and I do enjoy country music, even though I’m not familiar with all of them. Brad Paisley is a lovely new addition to me. And, I also like Pink. Thanks for sparkling up my week. Have a blessed day 🙂
