Spring has sprung – or it’s about to, since yesterday was the first official day of spring, and we did get spring-like weather over the weekend.  Of course Mother Nature is still up to her old tricks, with threats of possible snow on Friday.  So we’ll see how it shakes down the rest of the week.  At any rate, it’s Monday, and that means it’s time for Monday’s Music Moves Me with this week’s theme being our favorite male performing artists.  Since I have quite a few, I’m going to get right to it!

First up is Bruno Mars – I’m sure some of you are all familiar with his song, ‘Grenade’:

Grenade
Bruno Mars

Easy come, easy go
That’s just how you live, oh
Take, take, take it all,
But you never give
Should of known you was trouble from the first kiss,
Why were they open?
Gave you all I had
And you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked,
Cause what you don’t understand is
I’d catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah , yeah)
You know I’d do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh, oh
I would go through all this pain,
Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby;
But you won’t do the same

No, no, no, no
Black, black, black and blue beat me till I’m numb
Tell the devil I said “hey” when you get back to where you’re from
Mad woman, bad woman,
That’s just what you are, yeah,
You’ll smile in my face then rip the breaks out my car
Gave you all I had
And you tossed it in the trash

You tossed it in the trash, yes you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked
Cause what you don’t understand is
I’d catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah , yeah)
You know I’d do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh, oh
I would go through all this pain,
Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby;
But you won’t do the same

If my body was on fire, ooh
You’ d watch me burn down in flames
You said you loved me you’re a liar
Cause you never, ever, ever did baby…
But darling I’ll still catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah , yeah)
You know I’d do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh, oh
I would go through all this pain,
Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby;
But you won’t do the same.
No, you won’t do the same,
You wouldn’t do the same,
Ooh, you’ll never do the same,
No, no, no, no

Next up is Billy Currington, with his song, “Let Down Easy”:

Let Down Easy
Billy Currington

There’s a little moonlight dancing on the sand
There’s a warm breeze blowing by the ocean as you’re taking my hand
You need to know, where I’m standing now
That I’m right on the edge of giving into you
Baby, it’s a long way down

If I fall, can you let me down easy
If I leave my heart with you tonight will you promise me that you’re gonna treat it right
I’m barely hanging on
If I fall, can you let me down easy

The scent of your perfume floating in the air
Looking like an angel laying on a blanket with a halo of hair
And those lips, look too good to be true
Once I taste that kiss I know what’ll happen
I’ll be at the mercy of you

If I fall, can you let me down easy
If I leave my heart with you tonight will you promise me that you’re gonna treat it right
I’m barely hanging on
So if I fall, can you let me down easy

If I fall, can you let me down easy
If I leave my heart with you tonight will you promise me girl you’re gonna treat it right
I’m barely hanging on
If I fall, can you let me down easy

If I fall
Can you let me down easy
Let me down easy
Mmmhmmm mmm

Can’t leave out Blake Shelton, with is song “Who are you when I’m not looking”:

Who are you when I’m not looking
Blake Shelton

My, oh, my, you’re so good looking
Hold yourself together like a pair of bookends
But I’ve not tasted all you’re cooking
Who are you when I’m not looking

Do you pour a little something on the rocks
Slide down the hallway in your socks
When you undress, do you leave a path
Then sink to your nose in a bubble bath

My, oh, my, you’re so good looking
Hold yourself together like a pair of bookends
But I’ve not tasted all you’re cooking
Who are you when I’m not looking

I want to know, I want to know, I want to know

Do you break things when you get mad
Eat a box of chocolate cause you’re feeling bad
Do you paint your toes cause you bite your nails
And call up mama when all else fails

Who are you when I’m not around
When the door is locked and the shades are down
Do you listen to your music quietly
And when it feels just right are you thinking of me?

I want to know, I want to know, I want to know

My, oh, my, you’re so good looking
But who are you when I’m not looking

And we can’t forget about Darius Rucker, with his song simply entitled “This”:

This
Darius Rucker

Got a baby girl sleeping in my bedroom
And her mama laughing in my arms
There’s the sound of rain on the rooftop
And the game’s about to start

I don’t really know how I got here
But I’m sure glad that I did
And it’s crazy to think that one little thing
Could’ve changed all of it

Maybe it didn’t turn out like I planned
Maybe that’s why I’m such, such a lucky man

(Chorus)
For every stoplight I didn’t make
Every chance I did or I didn’t take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn’t know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to
This

Like the girl that I loved in high school
Who said she could do better
Or that college I wanted to go to
‘Til I got that letter

All the fights and the tears and the heartache
I thought I’d never get through
And the moment I almost gave up
All lead me here to you

I didn’t understand it way back when
But sitting here right now it all makes perfect sense

Repeat Chorus

How I cried when my mama passed away
But now I’ve got an angel looking out for me today
So nothing’s a mistake

Repeat Chorus

It led me here to
This

And to finish things up for today, my all-time favorite male artist, Brad Paisley, with his song “This is Country Music”:

This is Country Music
Brad Paisley

Well, you’re not suppose
To say the word “cancer”
In a song.
And tellin’ folks that Jesus is the answer
Can rub ’em wrong.
It ain’t hip to sing about
Tractors, trucks, little towns or mama.
Yeah, that might be true.
But this is country music,
And we do.

Do you like to drink a cold one
On the weekends,
And get a little loud?
Do you wanna say, “I’m sorry”
Or, “I love you”,
But you don’t know how?
And do you wish somebody
Had the nerve
To tell that stupid boss a yours
To shove it,
Next time he yells at you?
Well, this is country music,
And we do.

So turn it on,
And turn it up.
And sing along.
This is real.
This is your life
In a song.
Yeah, this is country music.

Are you haunted by the eco
Of your mother
On the phone;
Cryin’ as she tells you
That your brother
Is not comin’ home?
Well, if there’s anyone that still has pride
In the memory of those
That died defending
The ol’ red, white and blue,
This is country music,
And we do.

So turn it on,
And turn it up.
And sing along.
This is real.
This is your life
In a song.

Just like a road that takes you home.
Yeah, this is right where you belong.
This is country music.

This is country music.

“He Stopped Loving Her Today”
(This is country music)
“Hello Darlin'”
(This is country music)
“God Bless the U.S.A”
(This is country music)
“Amarillo by Mornin'”
(This is country music)
“Stand by Your Man”
“Mama Tried”
(This is country music)
“Took Me Home”
(This is country music)
“I Walk the Line”
(This is country music)
“A Country Boy Can Survive”
(This is country music)

.

There are so many more, but that’s enough for today.  Enjoy your Monday!
