My thoughts and prayers are with those in Japan who are going through all the terrible tragedies that have been occurring over the last several days.  Our family has friends who live over there, and we’re still waiting to hear that they’re OK.  It makes you pause and realize that life is short – embrace those around you and hold them close to your heart.  I wish I was there to help, but I can’t be.  The only thing I can do is to donate to the Red Cross and Doctors without Borders and to encourage you to do the same.

On a different note, today is my parents 50th Anniversary!  They had an anniversary party over the weekend, but sadly I wasn’t able to fly to Seattle to attend.  I’ll just have to make it up to them when we finally get to move back.  Meanwhile, I had a great idea of a custom gift basket I’m putting together for them – but until I ship it, I’ll have to keep it mum, because I don’t want the surprise to be leaked out before they get it to be surprised.  You’ll have to check back in a week or so to find out what my bright idea was.  And if they thought it was bright.  Or cool.

And, since today is Monday, that means it’s time for Monday’s Music Moves Me – no set ‘theme’ for this week, so I thought I’d go with Lady Antebellum’s newest hit, “Hello, World”.  I thought it was perfect to cover all the bases for today.  The video is intense, be prepared for some major chills:

Hello World Lyrics
Lady Antebellum

Traffic crawls, cell phone calls
Talk radio screams at me through my tinted window I see
A little girl, rust red minivan, she’s got chocolate on her face
Got little hands and she waves at me
Yeah, she smiles at me

Chorus
Well, hello world
How you been
Good to see you, my old friend
Sometimes I feel cold as steel
Broken like I’m never gonna heal
And I see a light, a little hope in a little girl
Hello world

Every day I drive by a little white church
It’s got these little white crosses
Like angels in the yard
Maybe I should stop on in, say a prayer
Maybe talk to God like he is there
Oh, I know he’s there
Yeah, I know he’s there

Well hello world
How you been
Good to see you, my old friend
Sometimes I feel as cold as steel
And broken like I’m never gonna heal
And I see a light, a little grace, a little faith unfurls
Well hello world

Sometimes I forget what living’s for
And I hear my life through my front door
And I breathe it in
Oh, I’m home again
And I see my wife
Little boy and little girl
Hello world
Hello world

Well the empty disappears
I remember why I’m here
Just surrender and believe
I fall down on my knees
Well hello world
Hello world
Hello world

.

Enjoy your Monday!

  1. What’s wrong with you making me cry on a Monday & the sun is even shining! What a great song & video! I couldn’t stop watching. Sure makes you think. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to your Mommy & Daddy! Dang, “50” yrs., God Bless them both! It sure is a rarity nowadays! Love runs strong in your family! I can tell that just knowing you!

  2. Happy Anniversary to your parents. Gosh that is amazing the foundation of marriage they have.

And the tragedy in Japan is on my heart heavily.
It was so difficult seeing cars trying to get away and being overcome.

    Very nice song.

    Aloha.

  3. Today is my sister’s wedding anniversary. 🙂

The images from Japan are so unreal. The images seem like a CGI movie and hard to believe it’s real. My hearts and prayers go out to the people of Japan.

That video gave me chills. You did good, mama. And thanks for the MM plug. 😉

  4. Lady Antebellum is one of my new faves!! I’m sorry you could make it home for the celebration, 50 years is quite a milestone, so I am sure they will be celebrating all year and be happy whenever you get there in person.

  5. Wonderful choice. The video was touching and I watched it with Trinity. Had to remind her about her seat belt and sitting properly in her car seat. :-0

  6. I love that a lot of people were thinking about Japan on this week’s MM. I added my prayers and good thoughts, too. Happy Anniversary to your parents. Lady Antebellum is a perfect choice. Have a blessed week.

  7. Following you back from the MM blog hop on this Tuesday. Congrats to your parents golden anniversary! My folks celebrated theirs last year. Isn’t that the coolest?

I like Lady Antebellum, but I can’t listen to your song selection right now coz everyone is in bed. I’ll catch it later. We are praying for those poor people in Japan. What a tragedy! If the tsunami wasn’t enough, they are facing some serious troubles with those four unstable nuclear reactors. Ask God to allow them to get to cool them off before they melt down.
