Thank goodness it’s Tuesday, even though I’m late putting fingers to keyboard (the phrase ‘putting pen to paper’ sounds so much better – but is that becoming a faded era?) and attempting to de-scramble my brain into somewhat of a cohesive post.  Lucky for you me, it’s Random Tuesday Thoughts, so I don’t have to be as cohesive as normal.  ‘Normal’ being relative, of course.

Note to self:  Check the cafeteria calendar before you run around the kitchen like a maniac spend time making mac’n’cheese and packing Princess Nagger a fun lunch.   The cafeteria sends home a calendar each month listing what they’ll be serving for lunch each day.  Princess Nagger and I go over the calendar together, X-ing out the days they’re serving something she doesn’t like, circle the days she does.  It ends up looking like a bad Tic-Tac-Toe sheet, but it works.  As long as I actually look at it before I decide if it’s a ‘packing’ day or not.

Our genius carpenter friend Rob had to work all weekend, so we didn’t make very much progress with our Summer House renovation.  Although the Absent Minded Professor husband decided to tackle putting in a railing up in the opening that we cut from the ceiling of the first floor to open the upstairs into a loft.  I think he did a really good job – see?

Oh, yeah – I forgot to take a picture.  Sorry.  You’ll just have to wait a few days for that.  Or a week.  I also ‘manned-up’ (is that how you spell that phrase?) and used the drill to drill holes in the top of my desk to drop cords through to clear off the mess of cords that littered the desk top.  Much better!

Princess Nagger brought home a writing assignment yesterday as her homework – it’s one of those read an assigned story and answer the one question the teacher supplied on a piece of paper.  We butted heads on what a ‘complete sentence’ actually is, because her answer seemed way too short.  Until I read the story, then checked the question – of the 10 questions available to ask, the one asked was the only one that technically encouraged an answer in the form of a ‘incomplete sentence’.  Princess Nagger won that round.

The Ground Hog didn’t see his shadow last week, which means an early Spring.  We’re expecting snow flurries later today.  Ironic, isn’t it?

Random Conversation with Princess Nagger:

PN:  “Two teachers wore hats of cheese yesterday to school.”

Me:  “I bet it’s because the Packers won the Super Bowl on Sunday, so they were probably Steelers fans that lost a bet and had to wear cheese hats.”

PN:  “Hats of cheese – I think I have to be a Packers fan, because they come from a state that has my favorite food and even have hats of it!”

Me:  “…..”

That’s it for this week – I could go on and on, but I seriously need more coffee.  Don’t forget to head over to The Un-Mom – who’s much more entertaining with her randomness. Feel free to get your random on and join in the fun!

Edited to add: Don’t forget to join me on Twitter tomorrow at 1pm EST for a Talk with TheMotherhood and Dr. Oetker Pizza Ristorante all about Valentine’s Day how we spend quality time with people we care about (romantically and otherwise) to maintain good relationships.  I’m looking forward to getting some great ideas!

You’ll also have a chance to win one of four prize packs that Dr. Oetker will be giving away during the Talk.  Each contain a cooler bag, pizza cutter, apron and Dr. Oetker coupons.  Sounds like a great prize pack for all us pizza lovers!   Hope to see you there!

  1. There are days when I go rounds with Turbo about homework–I usually let him win–it’s his fault if the work isn’t done. Things usually get to nutty rushed in the morning for packing lunch. Turbo needs to learn to make his own sandwich I think.

  2. How can you argue with PN’s logic? Cheese pretty much trumps everything.

I have those incomplete sentence conversations too, over spelling word exercises. Last week from my seven year old: “Am guarding.” WTF? Seriously?

    Happy Tuesday.

  3. I love your little conversation. As a Wisconsin native, they are called, cheese heads. Glad those teachers wore them to school! We love our cheese too!

  4. I have to pack J-Man’s lunch every day because of his food allergies.

I like the way PN thinks, cheese hats! If I had a hat of my favorite food it would be a lobster hat. Yum!

  5. Man, we will NEVER be able to send the kids to school with lunchmoney since they’re allergic to everything under the sun. Tell PN to eat double the mac n cheese for me!

  6. I missed your Twitter chat! DOH! Oh well. Catch ya next time!

I loved PN observation about cheeseheads. That’s why I live in Tampa and support the Bucs. Because I love pirates. Argggggg!

  7. Yeah, I’m not looking forward to school lunches for Sprite. I don’t really like the ones at her daycare either. Bleh.
I wish I could join in tomorrow!
    Stupid work..
