Today is a very special day – Princess Nagger turns 8!  Where in the world has the time gone?  It’s hard to imagine that eight years have gone by, it seems like this moment was only yesterday:

Walking, talking, teething, tantrums, potty training – all that seems like a blur.

Princess Nagger, today you hit the halfway mark to driving age…(someone please find me that pause button!!)  I have been truly blessed having you in my life – even when you go into Drama Queen Mode (sometimes on a daily basis, but who’s counting?)  Your quick wit, bright smile and goofy ways are a constant source of entertainment, and life would be so boring without you.

You amaze me on a daily basis – from your passion of dinosaurs (and I still can’t pronounce nearly half of the ones you know about), to your loving, giving nature.   You’re beautiful on the inside and out, smart and dorky to boot.   I look forward to celebrating many birthdays in the future, and watching you grow into the beautiful woman you will someday become.  I love you, Princess Nagger – Happy Birthday!

Martina McBride’s song, “In My Daughter’s Eyes” was released November 17, 2003 – two days after Princess Nagger’s first birthday.  It became our song, and every time I hear it, it gives me goosebumps and gets me all teary eyed.  You’ll see why:

Here are the lyrics:

In my daughter’s eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter’s eyes

In my daughter’s eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter’s eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It’s hangin’ on when your heart
has had enough
It’s giving more when you feel like giving up
I’ve seen the light
It’s in my daughter’s eyes

In my daughter’s eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she’ll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I’m gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I’ll be there
In my daughter’s eyes

See?  Here’s a tissue…   Enjoy your Monday!

  1. Birthdays are amazing reminders of how far we’ve come, how quickly time goes, and especially those of our children–how important it is to live every day with intentional love.

May you and she have a beautiful day!

  2. Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter! I love that song, I listened to it all the time when I was pregnant! Thanks for following, I’m following you back!

  3. Don’t you wish kids came with a pause button and a stop and rewind button too? So true!

She is truly a special and wonderful little girl. I’ve enjoyed following you and reading all of your Princess Nagger stories. Happy Birthday, Princess!

The song is a perfect pick.

  4. Happy Birthday Blue Eyes! What a beautiful little baby girl! Perfect song there, Mom! This song was played at my daughter’s (NightOwlMama) wedding. I’ve been both father and mother to my children, so she asked if I would give her away, which I did, and we danced the mother/daughter dance to this tune. OKAY WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU! Makin’ me cry like this! Disgusting ~hehe~ Hugs to ya girlfriend, and hugs to PN. Have a wonderful birthday little girlfriend! Thanks for playing along today. Next week theme is it starts with a “T” for Thanksgiving! Have a great week.

  8. What a wonderful tribute to your beautiful daughter! Happy birthday from one Scorpio to another xD {mines ironically the 17th LOL}

What a beautiful song–I have no problem seeing why it’s your guys’ 🙂

I hope your family had a wonderful day and have a musical week!

  9. Sorry, I’m late, but … Happy Birthday Ms. PN!! ChaChaCha!! (We always throw those into the pauses when we sing HB, it makes the strangers of the group smile or look at us weird. We think it’s fun.) I knew I couldn’t push play on the song, I’m having a crying day.
I’m late because I usually totally skip blogging on Mondays, I’m weird like that.

  10. How beautiful. I know that you probably used an entire box of tissues while writing this post. One look at those beautiful blue eyes and that song singing and your heart just melts. The mother/daughter bond is so strong and so special. Happy Birthday to both of you! Mrs. Hart/ShaRhonda
