This week’s theme of Monday’s Music Moves Me is Country.  Once upon a time I was not a Country Music fan.  But my best friend Peggy is, and she always has country playing at her house and in her car.  I discovered that I actually do love Country – but not the Old Country…you know the kind, where the lyrics are annoyingly whiny like “My wife ran off with the postman and my dog got ran over” kind.  But New Country or Contemporary Country?  Love it!

One of my all-time favorite Country artists (besides Carrie Underwood, of course) is the yummy Brad Paisley.  Not only is he so good looking (and married to one of my favorite actresses, Kimberly Williams-Paisley), but he generally has really fun songs – like “I’m Gonna Miss Her” and “Little Moments“.

His videos are always fun to watch, too.  Case-in-point, the one I’m sharing today, “Celebrity”.    He makes fun of spoofs Reality TV and has some fun people participating in the video – like William Shatner as Simon Cowell.  I always giggle when I watch this video – hopefully you will, too!  Enjoy!

Here are the lyrics:

Someday, I’m gonna be famous,
Do I have talent? Well, no.
These days you don’t really need it,
Thanks to reality shows.

Can’t wait to date a supermodel,
Can’t wait to sue my Dad.
Can’t wait to wreck a Ferrari,
On my way to rehab.

‘Cause when you’re a celebrity, it’s adios reality.
You can act just like a fool;
People think you’re cool just ’cause you’re on TV.
I can throw a major fit,
When my latte isn’t just how I like it.
When they say I’ve gone insane,
I’ll blame it on the pain,
And the pressures that go with bein’ a celebrity.
Ah ha.

I’ll get to cy to Barbara Walters,
When things don’t go my way.
An’ I’ll get community service,
No matter which law I break.

I’ll make the supermarket tabloids,
They’ll write some awful stuff.
But the more they run my name down,
The more my price goes up.

Cuz, when you’re a celebrity, it’s adios reality.
no matter what ya do;
People think you’re cool just ’cause you’re on TV.
Now, I can fall in and out of love,
Have marriages that barely last a month.
When they go down the drain,
I’ll blame it on the fame,
And say: “It’s just so tough, bein’ a celebrity.”

So let’s hitch up the wagons and head out west,
To the land of fun in the sun.
We’ll be real world, bachelor, jackass millionaires.
Hey, hey Hollywood, here we come.

Yeah, when you’re a celebrity, it’s adios reality.
No matter what you do,
People think you’re cool just ’cause you’re on TV.
Bein’ a celebrity.
Yeah, a celebrity.
Ah ha.

Aw, where’s my coffee?

Enjoy your Monday…Ye-haw!

  1. Yeah, definitely a fun video. I liked when him and Carrie Underwood hosted the award show. They’re good together, and singing too… that was him, right! Thanks for playing their girlfriend – hope to see you next week too! Have a great week!!

  2. At risk of embarrassing myself here…but I’ve never heard of Brad Paisley much less this song. I love it and he’s positively adorable! I laughed out loud several times because this video cracked me up. I’m going to go watch it again now. Thank you!!

  3. I like him too. Did you see his interview with Robin Roberts? It showed his true character. She also interviewed Carrie Underwood (another favorite of mine)!

  4. I think I need to download that one, just because the lyrics are clever!
I don’t listen to much country, but I do like that song “Alcohol” and a few others.

  5. I’ve always loved Brad Paisley too. That song is hilarious, I love Shatner’s cameo. My favorite Paisley song is He Didn’t Have To Be.
