This week’s theme for Monday’s Music Moves Me is a movie song. When I saw that, I knew exactly what song I wanted to share, it gives me major goosebumps every time I hear it. From the movie City of Angels, a song simply entitled ‘Angel‘ by Sarah McLachlan:
Here are the lyrics:
Angel lyrics
Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There’s always some reason
To feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
Let me be empty
Oh and weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight
In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There’s vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting
Keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don’t make no difference
Escaping one last time
It’s easier to believe
In this sweet madness
Oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees
In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
.
This is especially poignant at this time, as my FIL is preparing to leave this world and travel into the arms of angels. We’re driving to where he’s at in Maryland today to take Princess Nagger to say her goodbyes in case today may be her last chance. I’m not sure how to explain to a 7-year old about what that all means, but she’s a bright kid and I bet she understands a lot more than I think.
At 88 he’s ready to go, and has chosen to stop all treatment for his Cryoglobulinemia and Lymphoma, which means his days are literally numbered. I will be a little scarce during this time, but will welcome the chance to ‘escape’ into the blogosphere as time permits.
Enjoy your Monday!
