I have always been a fan of Sarah McLachlan. There are usually poignant stories behind her songs, like one of my favorites, “Angel“. She hasn’t released a new album in seven years, and her newest one, Laws of Illusion, was worth the wait.
I had to listen to the new album a couple of times, because it is a bit different from her albums in the past. But it totally grew on me. The album starts off with the opener “Awakenings’’ (“The cracks began to show as soon as things got hard’’) to the anguish of “Forgiveness’’ (“I don’t want your deceiving smile at my door’’). They’re the kinds of songs whose melancholy is touching, but Sarah’s melodious voice burnishes them, which leaves you feeling better. I like artists whose voice I can immediately pick out in a crowd, and Sarah McLachlan happens to be one of those.
Along with the release of this newest album (which hit the stores on June 15th), she is bringing back and performing at the Lilith Fair Festival this summer.
Are you a Sarah McLachlan fan? You can find her on Facebook and Twitter.
Want to buy her new album? It’s available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Buy it – you’ll be glad you did!
I’ll leave you with her new music video for one of the songs, “Loving You is Easy” – enjoy!

I received a CD from One2One Network on behalf of Sarah McLachlan to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed are wholly my own and not influenced from outside sources. Or because I got a free CD. No other compensation was received.
This is only disconnected to your album review but I have always wanted to go to Lilith Fair. It just hasn’t fit into my life. I will definitely check out the album.
I’ve always liked her. I’m glad she came out with something new. I never listen to the radio (strictly an ipod only kind of girl). I may have to get this one!
