Happy Aloha Friday!

From Kailani at An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays let’s take it easy on posting, too. Ask a simple question…nothing that requires a lengthy response. It’s a great way to make new blogging friends!

Since I’m hoping to get out and plant some new plants in my flowerbeds this weekend, my question for you today is:

Do You Have a Green Thumb?

Mine varies.  Odd thing to say, isn’t it?  But I must confess it tends to be ‘greener’ during the Spring and Summer, then forgets its greeness particularly during the winter months when I forget to water the houseplants and they either end up looking very sickly or dry up completely.  I don’t know why I seem to have it out for houseplants, but I’m determined to make them live this year!

Happy Hour Friday

RxBambi from A Day in the Life of a Would-Be Bambi hosts a weekly “Happy Hour” – join in the Happy Fun!

This week’s ‘Happy’ is simple – I’m happy that the annoying voles didn’t eat all of my bulbs (they sure tried to) – I have a solitary tulip that finally bloomed:

And there appear to be more coming up in other parts of my flower beds.  Now if anyone has a suggestion on how to eliminate the voles…

For AF: I have kept my plants at work alive. At home, well, some are coming back from their winter sleep and we did have beans and squash in our veggie garden last year. So many other plants have failed along the way. Let’s say I try reall hard, but my thumb only gets to orange. Sometimes it steeps to green, usually by surprise.

  3. Not a green thumb at all. I love the looks of plants and flowers, but just not that into it. I hate dirt under my fingernails.

  4. stopping by from Aloha Friday – I have somewhat of a green thumb, I love doing a veggie garden every year and have pretty good luck with that, not so much with flowers or house plants though.

Love your pretty tulip. (I’m already a follower of your blog) Hope you have a nice weekend 🙂

  5. I wish I had a green thumb like my grandmother and mother but while not as good as theirs I do have a slightly green thumb and do enjoy planting and watching them produce

  7. I think I have a death thumb pointed at plants. They live for 6 or so months and then die. I feed them, and all that and yet they die.

I will buy no more plants.

I will buy seeds and put them in the ground outside.

Let’s see how mother earth will help me out 🙂

Your bloom is lovely. I ‘m clueless about voles.

    Happy weekend to you!

  10. Okay, my-my we sure have a busy post tonite don’t we? Hmm, First what the hell is a Vole? I don’t even know what it is much less how to get rid of one unless I could come over first thing in the morning, and just breath on the little sucker for ya! That’ll get rid of the pesky buggers! LOL Now, as far as a green thumb. Maybe mine is light green, but with house plants. I had a jade plant (which I posted about not that long ago). Had it for 10 yrs, and then it got over watered some how and caught this fungus. Totally gross. That’s my only advice I have do not over water your plants. Outside gardens only thing I can tell you there is don’t let your neighbors in your yard to give you hints. Too many hands in the pot spoils the stew. Thanks for stopping by, your welcome any time, love. Have a wonderful weekend!
