I’ve been slammed with a major sinus infection so I’ve been sort of hibernating since my head feels like it’s about to explode, as do my ears.  And yes, Justine, I did call my doctor.  Not that it did much good – she’s on ‘hospital rounds’ all this week and next.  And won’t simply call in a prescription for antibiotics unless she sees me in her office.  Even though I was just in there less than 6 months ago for the same thing. It’s going to be time to fire her and move on.

That’s Small Town America for you – or maybe the economy has hit her, too, since she obviously needs the exorbitant office visit money to have me go in and twiddle my thumbs for 2 hours to see her for 5 minutes and have her confirm what I already know before finally giving me a prescription.  You’d think I was asking for a prescription that was addictive or that I could sell for big bucks on the black market.  But antibiotics?  I must be missing something.

As if the sinus infection wasn’t enough, it’s PMS week, too.  So hibernation mode is a smart way to go.  Trust me on that.

  1. Some krappe advice, should you get desperate. Go to your dentist and tell him your back teeth hurt. He’ll tell you it’s a sinus infection and give you the good stuff (if it’s bad enough to make your teeth hurt, he knows it’s bad!) I had to do that a few weeks ago. Sad, but true. This year’s sinus infections seem to be knocking people around, but good.

    Feel better!

  2. I’m pretty sure I remember you going through this prescription issue before.

I’m sorry. I hope you feel better. I’m sending healing thoughts, but not through the mail because I’m afraid your mail person wouldn’t put the package where you could get to it.

  3. Oh, you definitely need a new doctor. They should be able to fit you in same day or next day. Get ye some meds, and chocolate…you know, for the PMS.

  4. I know I’ve said this before, but I’m really surprised that your doctor would even be willing to call in an Rx without seeing you first. I think there’s major liability there for doing that, just in case something else was wrong with you.
If you have to sit in her waiting room for 2 hours you DEFINITELY need to change doctors. I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes at my doc’s office!

  5. Yeah, I would say definitely time for a new doc. I get tons of sinus infections (just had surgery to hopefully curb this…), and each year my doc gives me a Rx with refills at my checkup. He’ll also call it in if I call with symptoms. Your doc needs to treat you like a grown up! A grownup in pain…
So sorry; hope you feel better. Get a steroid spray too when you see her; it works really well.

  6. My sister says they are actually encouraged to EMAIL their doctors to request prescriptions and stuff. They don’t WANT to see them unless they have to – now I wish I could have something like that!!

  7. I’m sorry your not feeling well. I hear you on the medication. I know my asthma better then my doctor so when I need something it would be nice if he would just write it up for me because when I can’t breathe I can’t even shower and drive myself over to see him. Then I end up in the emergency room!
