Quite often I’m taken aback at the insight or wisdom Princess Nagger will display when she and I are having a conversation.  You know the saying – “Out of the mouths of babes” – it really is amazing what they come up with.

When I was approached to review the  book “What I Know:  Uncommon Wisdom & Universal Truths from 10-Year-Olds and 100-Year-Olds.” I was intrigued – particularly in the comparison between 10-year olds and 100-year olds.

To say that it was an interesting read is an understatement.  I found it very difficult to put down!  There are not many books I can honestly say that about.

In “What I Know”, Roger Fishman traveled over 38,000 miles speaking with multitudes of 10 year olds and 100 year olds, then compiled their insights on life as they share unguarded truths and surprising wisdom.   Could you imagine how much fun that would be?

Now you can enjoy the fun – all in the form of this awesome book.   I love the short stories this book contains – the stories along with the quotes all woven together make for a light, yet inspirational read.   One I’ll be reading again and again!

“What I Know…” is an excellent book and would make a great gift – it’s one I absolutely recommend to anyone.

From the author, Roger Fishman:

My grandfather, Jacob Bloch, was my hero.  From behind the cash register of his five-and-dime department store, Jacob collected stories and bits of wisdom that would bring home to share with his family.  His firm belief was that there is wisdom in every single person’s life story.

Although my grandfather passed away while I was still a young boy, his habit for seeking wisdom stuck with me always.  And when my wonderful wife, Courtney, and I recently welcomed our son, Jack, into the world, I was stirred to honor my grandfather’s tradition and share his advice with him.

And so I set out to listen to and record life stories and wisdom from opposite ends of the life spectrum.  From the Bronx, New York to Crow Nation, Montana I was welcomed by strangers who confirmed my grandfather’s fundamental belief:

We all have stories to tell.  It is just a matter of taking the time to listen and share because uncommon wisdom and universal truths are all around us.  I hope that this book helps remind and inspire those who read it that we can all find wisdom – from the bookends of life and everywhere in between.

Roger  lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Courtney, their son, Jack, and their chocolate lab, Norman.  He is the founder and CEO of The ZiZo Group, Inc.

  1. The book sounds really interesting.
Actually I haven’t been inspired in a long time.
I admire my husband and his dedication to working
around our house. His energy is never ending. I
want to be inspired. I need some drive, I need
    a match under my butt!
.-= Debby would like you to read ..SKYE B =-.

  2. I respect your honesty and your opinion. I’m a man. I never read comic books. I don’t know if i could have pointed to Iron Man in a lineup of comic book characters. And i don’t particularly like movies based on comic books. BUT I love Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges, so i decided to give the movie a chance.
