I thought Friday would never get here! And yet, I kept thinking yesterday was Monday…because Princess Nagger was off school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so yesterday was her first day back to school this week. MLK for Monday, then Teacher Inservice for the other two days. I was ready for her to go back to school yesterday.
Notice something? I moved back to Blogger. Or at least that was the plan as I was typing up this post last night at midnight. Apparently now I am dealing with two blogs that are the same. My Blogger blog which is using www.stacysrandomthoughts.com and where I published this post last night over there, but then there’s this one, which does away with the ‘www’ and just uses stacysrandomthoughts.com. I guess I’m showing back up on people’s blog rolls (thanks for letting me know, Otin and Brian!) though this post didn’t show up after being published at Blogger last night. So I’m adding it over here. Confused yet? I sure am!
Now to figure out what to do because using ‘stacysrandomthoughts.com’ here or at Blogger reduces my page rank from 4/10 down to 1/10. When I take the domain forwarding off at Blogger, it goes back up to 4/10. But apparently I’m getting closer to the solution since the feeds now seem to be working. At least something’s working!
A special Thank You to Blueviolet (A Nut in a Nutshell) has been such an awesome bloggy friend with her encouragement and patience as I vented my frustration via email about broken feeds, lost traffic, page rank, and endless other issues.
My computer is still threatening to die on me, so I’m still working on backing everything up so I can do a complete reformat and reinstall – hopefully over the weekend. Then I can hopefully be back to ‘normal’. I’ve had more Blue Screen of Death incidents throughout this week – which has really put a crimp in me getting caught up. Or the house clean. Or the Christmas tree taken down.
I did get the decorations off the front porch and all the ornaments stripped from the tree, so there’s that. Now I just have to deal with the muddy mess in front of the shed to move the tubs of decorations back out there, and retrieve the box for the Christmas Tree. Hopefully this weekend. I’ve been tempted to leave the tree up and put Valentine’s Day decorations on it. Then I could avoid the tree-wrestling until February 15th.
Princess Nagger and I saw The Princess and the Frog on Tuesday – loved it! Since PN’s school was off for Teacher Inservice days Tuesday and Wednesday, we went to the theater in the next town over (where school was in session as normal). We were the only ones in the theater except for one other mom and her two little girls. That’s the way I like it!
Of course when we got our popcorn and candy we didn’t notice the kids combo comes in a cardboard dinosaur box – PN saw the other little girls carrying them and kept lamenting that we should have gotten one for her. So after the movie we begged for an empty one at the counter and at first the girls were confused and thought they had to sell me a complete combo, but decided the boxes themselves probably weren’t inventoried so they gave us (an empty) one. Talk about a happy Princess Nagger!
What is it with homework? Especially after reading Mrs. Bear’s post – I’m having the same issue with Princess Nagger that she’s having with her first grader. PN resists doing her homework though she could probably get it done in less than a 1/2 hour, but four hours later she’s finally done.
And mess? She’s queen of making messes. Drives me batty! Especially when she works her tornado skills in the living room…and dining room…and bathrooms…
No pictures this week – they’re still on my camera. Next week will be better now that I won’t have to be spending valuable time searching out code to fix broken stuff.
Princess Nagger Conversation of the Week:
PN: “You know the emory board you use to file your nails?”
Me: “Yes, what about it?”
PN: “Did you know they now have one for cats?”
Me: “For cats?”
PN: “Yes! Your cat can give itself a pedicure and is strong enough to support even larger cats. It even comes with a cat toy! It’s really cool, Mama, we should get one!”
Me: “I’m guessing you saw this in a commercial?”
PN: “Oh yes, and if you call the 800 number before the end of the commercial, you can get two of them and only pay shipping and handling on the second one! But we really don’t need two, because we only have one cat. It’s really cool, Mama, it has a base, and you set the nail file thing in the base, then there’s a hole to put the cat toy. It even comes with a free de-shedder!”
Me: “…….”
And now, time for Happy Hour!
- I’m very happy for supportive bloggy friends like Blueviolet, Otin and Martha who boost me up with emails when I’m having a bad day.
- I’m happy that it’s Friday. I’m probably only going to have gotten 4 hours of sleep overnight, but at least it’s Friday.
- I’m happy that I’m sh0wing up on Google Reader again – even though now there are a whole new set of things to figure out.
If you’re just hanging out at home on Friday night (and blogging), feel free to join in on Ann’s Virtual Girl’s Night Out (boys are welcome, too!)
Don’t forget to visit Mrs. 4444 at Half Past Kissin’ Time for fun Friday Fragments, Otin’s and RxBambi’s respective blogs for Happy Hour Friday, and Ann Again and Again for VGNO.
Your blog woes are giving me a headache and they’ve got nothing to do with me! Many sympathies.
Homework has been the bane of my existence, especially with my eldest. That 4 hours to do half and hour’s work thing – I know it intimately 🙁 Many more sympathies.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh oh oh! about the homework, it’s going on here at my place too, I know you commented. I just had a thought though, what if school was an infomercial? do you know how many kids would LEARN stuffs if they were infomercial-ed?
and homework? yeah they could call that 800number with their answers but it would have to be the right 800 number? multiple choice 800numbers? Then we could have to have them build “stuffs” to sell themselves and homework could BE them giving infomercials? Why isn’t school as much fun as having TV?

When I saw this come up today, I nearly jumped out of my chair with happiness!
You know on the publishing setting in blogger… that little redirect check box thing? Does that have anything to do with it? I had to do something with that once upon a time.
Shoot! I’m running late. Gotta get my hair prettied up! Email me later and let me know how it’s going.
Thanks for the shoutout! When you’re sad, I’m sad. When you’re happy, I’m happy! I love you!!!

I’ve never been able to figure out the blogger-linky-thingy, so you’re about 10 steps ahead of me.
Those movie girls should get a raise.
Cats are jerks, they should all come with emery boards. (Stop making that face, I don’t believe in de-clawing).
Blueviolet always says the nicest things. I think she must be Buddist or something. Kinda like my sister, who I’ve nicknamed Ghandi Girl.
My days were completely mixed up this week because of the day off on Monday, I think.
One thing I know for sure….today IS Friday.
Enjoy your weekend, and get some rest!

That explains why I haven’t seen you. But you showed up in my reader today. Glad to see you.
I’m glad I found you. I didn’t know where you had gone 🙁
My tree is almost done being taken down 🙂 Our daughter struggled with homework and the simple things took her hours. We ended up having a tutor who taught her the order of things. It really helped. BlueViolet is an awesome person. She is everywhere all the time!!!

Oh my, all of your blog/computer problems remind me of why I won’t hardly ever even change my background. I’m always afraid I’ll screw up something!
Hope you enjoy your weekend and you get all of your computer issues sorted out. Happy VGNO!
Your post cracked me up! I’d been having all sorts of computer problems the last few weeks, due to a strike of lightning! Happy VGNO!
I can barely keep up with one blog let alone two!

I feel for you on your blogging issues … I’m sure it is totally frustrating. You’ve been showing up fine in my reader … I use FeedDemon … for what it is worth.
And I’m just waiting for the debut of PN’s very own infomercial. Has she seen the one for the Big Top cupcake? I was enthralled by that one … I so want it!

The Google page rank dance is quite a maddening exploit to be sure. Looks like you have things headed in the right direction. Good for you.
I’m wondering how a site gets added to your blogroll? I have a site that I think would match well that I have recently started.
Thanks!

Good luck with your computer problems! Hope you have a nice weekend, Jake just started screaming, off to get him to bed! 🙂 Happy VGNO!
I started homeschooling my 12 year old this year.
She was so stressed out over schoolwork, homework, screaming teachers, and “mean tween’s”. It didn’t help that she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, and finds it hard to write, and sometimes even walk alot.
Everyday after school she was whiney and tired. Homework was a nightmare.
Think about it- if you had to bring work home every night, would you like your job?
My daughter now willingly does household chore, often w/o me asking. Her mood is usually good now. So pleasant to be with!
Anyway, hope you had a great VGNO!

I am so sorry to hear that you are still having trouble with your blog, and feeds, and computer too! I was one of your folks that got a ton of posts in my reader yesterday. Glad to know you are still here though! Hang in there, it sounds like you have some good helpers in the background.
I love your Princess conversations of the week! My kids like those infomercials too! “I want that” is what they always say!

I’m confused. Are you going to stay on the self-hosted site or go back to blogger?
Don’t worry about your page rank. Mine went down when I had blogger forward to my domain, but it goes back up pretty quickly.
Your computer problems sound like a nightmare. That’s SO frustrating!! I hope it’s all ironed out soon.
I feel for you on the homework issue. What did you think of Pseudo’s idea to have her type them? I also suggested that Mrs.Bear see if the teacher would pull recess if the homework wasn’t done. I’m guessing that would motivate a boy, and probably a social little girl? Just grasping at straws here…
Here’s hoping you got your tree down 🙂
thanks so much for playing HHF!! Sorry about your blogger issues tho. Hopefully it’ll get straightened out. Otie and Blueviolet are freaking awesome!
have a great week 🙂
