~~By Margaret Hillert~~
If I had been a Pilgrim child
Among the fields and forests wild
Where deer and turkey used to roam,
A cabin would have been my home
With fireplace and earthen floor
And bearskins hanging at the door.
I would have gathered berries bright
For candles fragrantly alight,
And dug for clams and picked the corn
And laid the table smooth and worn.
Or hunted nuts hard-shelled and good
And helped in any way I could,
With time to laugh and play and run
When Indian children came for fun.
And on the first Thanksgiving Day
I would have met with friends to pray
And thank the Lord for all his care
In keeping us together there.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!

This week Jen from Sprite’s Keeper is dedicating the entire week for the Spin Cycle on Giving Thanks… I’m attempting to participate every day this week…I’m thankful for all the delicious food we are able to imbibe on this special day.  And especially for stretchy yoga pants.  Why don’t you head on over and check out the other Thankful Spinners and join in the fun!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family! I hope you have a wonderful day.

I am so thankful for the new blog friends I have made this past year. I had just started blogging this time last year!

Thankful too of course to be back home in PA with family, able to sit at the same table with them to give thanks!

  2. Then I'd give a special thanks
That I was able to join the ranks
Where kindness never seems to end
Thankful that you are my friend!

    Thanks for everything! xxxooo

  3. Have a great day! I'll be wearing a sweatsuit that will look like spandex by the end of the meal!

  4. Hey, I'm saving a seat for you right next to me so I hope you get to Utah in time.
