randomtuesday

It’s Tuesday! What time is it? It’s Random Tuesday Thoughts time, hosted by the inimitable Keely, the Super Cool Un-Mom. Today also marks my One Year Blogoversary! I can’t believe how fast the year has flown by – thank you to all my wonderful dedicated readers and commenters for your undying support. The check is in the mail.

I promised a giveaway for this amazing event – and I always keep my promises! I decided to give it its own post, though, because I didn’t want to make my normally long-winded RTT post even longer… You can find the giveaway post here. Or click on Princess Nagger’s Mug here:

Now on to our regularly scheduled Random program…

Princess Nagger has been dragging her feet getting ready for school in the morning. One of the reasons I make sure I wake her up over an hour before her bus is due to arrive – because I know she’ll be protesting and dragging her feet. Every. Step. Of. The. Way. And she never proves me wrong. Friday she missed her bus. I had just wrestled her backpack onto her back amongst her protests, when I looked up and saw the bus pull up out front. By the time we were halfway around the house with me yelling “Go, go go! RUN!” the bus had already proceeded to pull away.

So I grabbed my keys and bag and ordered the dogs back into the house and Princess Nagger to the van. Best laid plans of how I was going to spend my morning tossed to the winds. When we got to the school, we were about the 5th car in the ‘drop off line’. We sat there for a good five minutes…nothing was happening. Cars were beginning to line up behind us, and still no movement at the front of the line. Then my ‘idiot light’ came on. I needed to get gas. So I decided I’d exit the drop-off line and go park and walk the Nagger into the school – and noticed all the buses lined up still full of kids.

We spied her bus, still chock full of kids, so I walked up and called out to her really cool bus driver through her side window – she let Princess Nagger get on the bus to hang out with them until it was time to go into the school. Apparently they don’t unlock/open the doors until a specific time, so every morning the buses (and drop-off line) sit there anywhere from 20-30 minutes every day. Weird. But at least I didn’t have to sign PN into the office – she was able to join the masses of kids as they all scurried into their respective classrooms. As I was pulling away, I noticed how long the drop-off line had gotten. Glad I don’t have to maneuver that every day.

Apparently the dogs were mad I cut their backyard wandering short by ordering them into the house. When I got home 2 of them had decided to leave me a ‘present’ by pooping on the living room floor. What a lovely smell to walk into when I got home. Not.

When PN got home from school on Friday, her backpack contained this note:
I convinced her to sit on the back porch with her after school snack so I could get pictures of the scribbles on her pant leg (which she kept trying to cover up with her elbow):
Before I saw the note she tried to tell me that the kid who sits next to her drew on her pants…but when she saw me opening her backpack like I always do when she gets home, she immediately changed her story and said she was sorry:
It dawned on me as I was formatting the pictures for the blog the why she did it. As I was helping her get dressed under protest that morning, she was complaining that the pants I picked out were not ‘decorated’… I have created a monster with the clothes I’ve gotten her – apparently she loves the ones that have embroidery or appliques, even though she’s never actually seemed to care one way or the other before. I figured the protest was just another one of her famous stall-tactics she’s honed to perfection. Apparently she decided to ‘decorate’ her pants on her own.

Anybody know anything about spiders? Yeah, me neither. But man did this sucker freak me out a little…only a little, though, because it was already dead when I discovered it, drowned in the soapy water in the dishes soaking in the sink. But I had to take pictures, you know, to share the horror with you:
I double-dog dare you to click on that last one. FUGLY is the right word for it. It looks like some sort of morphed pincer bug-turned-into-spider – I searched online all weekend and could not come up with a ‘like’ spider. Anyone have any suggestions? I sure hope I don’t find any of its mates and/or babies or anything related to this. I would have screamed like a girl if it had been alive and kicking when I found it. Still creeps me out even in death, though!

Apparently Google still has the hiccups. I kept running into this over the weekend when I was trying to visit and/or comment on blogs:
I had some other randomness bouncing around in my brain, but it’s foggy this morning because I’m not at 100% with coffee yet. So we’ll call it a day. Besides, it’s time to wake up the Princess Nagger for school and I think I’ve rambled on long enough. One of these days I’m going to try to make my posts shorter. Yeah, that’ll happen.

Don’t forget to check out my Blogoversary Giveaway – just commenting will buy you a chance to win. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Meanwhile, head on over to the Un-Mom‘s to check out all the other Random Cool People. I feel quite honored I get to celebrate my anniversary with all of them!

  1. Happy Blogoversary!
What are we going to do with PN? You better get yourself one of those fancy embroidering sewing machines, and add that to your list of the many fabulous things you do! I love how they come up with stories, but then always come clean!

Thanks for the SPIDER so early in the morning. The post should come with a warning. I killed one on the wall last night.. not sure if it was that FUGLY though!

Princess left us a gift on Sunday, only my mom was the first one home. I had to run out and get Rug Doctor! I went out for the day when my gut instinct was telling me not too as she was having tummy issues!

I used to HATE car line at Tara's school, the first week was always a nightmare!

Off to visit your Blogoversary Post (but maybe I should first get coffee!)

  2. Okay, commenting before I check out the giveaway so I don't forget things. First, if my kids did that "I don't wanna get ready for school" thing? I'd kill myself! Good luck with that! EEKS!

I can't believe she wrote on her pants, wrote you a note to apologize, but then tried to lie about it anyway. ROFLMAO!

Yep, one ugly spider. I do believe that's a harmless wolf spider though. Btw… when I clicked on the picture, it would not bring me back to your blog!

    Justine ๐Ÿ˜ฎ )

  3. Eww…that spider is disgusting! I'm so glad it was dead.

PN just wanted pretty pants! That note kinda cracked me up as did her feeble attempt at lying. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can't even tell you how many times the bus has left my kids behind too. But that whole thing with the buses sitting outside waiting sounds very weird. When the buses arrive, the doors should open.

Happy Blogoversary, my most wonderful and darling friend!

  4. Google, Blogger and Gmail were all having issues this weekends, oh as was Facebook. I was not amused. At all.

Oh you want to see nasty, just wait until I take pictures of my drain spiders and creepy I am gonna build a web in your front door spiders. Ick!

    Happy RTT!

  5. HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY!

Writing on her pants? She is a girl after my own heart! I got paid to decorate fellow students pants when I was in school. This could be a business opportunity for her.

Spiders are only good when they trap mosquitoes and flies.

  6. HOLY COW… that is one HUGE MONSTROUS spider!!!!!!

Love how Princess was going to try & lie about her pants… little slick one!!!

  7. Happy Blogoversary! Those are some great giveaways you got!

The spider is freaky, thank goodness it was already dead. And the last picture was just way to much of a close up. Can I just say – ewww or eeek!

About the decorating of the pants…at least you figured out why she did it. That is the first thing I do when my daughter has done something inappropriate. There is always a reason that isn't always apparent right away. She is a cutie pie though.

Here's wishing you a wonderful day!

  8. Happy Blogoversary!

I think PN is going to be a fashion designer. Maybe the youngest contestant on Project Runway!

That spider is seriously scary! I wonder what it's mother looks like? LOL!

  9. First of all, Happy Blogoversary Stacy! ๐Ÿ˜€

PN is so adorable! Sometimes, my 7 year old gives me attitude in the morning before school… Sucks, but I'd be cranky too if my sleep is disturbed suddenly too.. ๐Ÿ˜€

At least you know PN is creative… ๐Ÿ™‚ can you still get those out when you wash the jeans?

I hate spiders!! I have come across one bigger than that! Like it was HUGE!! and it was alive!! I sprayed it with bug spray until it died, like I was running after it and spraying like mad, and then in the morning, I saw it under the table, dead… I hate spiders!!

I will check out your blogoversary post…

    Happy Tuesday Stacy! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. My kids color all over their pants (and themselves) all the time–and they are teens–I just got to the point where I don't care anymore. lol

I hate spiders, I had to scroll real fast past those pics, but didn't get through fast enough. *shudders*

If you want to see something really nasty, google 'desert spider.' That's some terrifying stuff!

    Have a great day,

    Raven

  11. that is one hairy spider, but hey I'll bet your other bugs aren't around right?

The decorated pants is so something my boys would do, especially AJ at this age.

  12. Happy Blogiversary!
Even though everything is random, I found it interesting that you went from decorating pants to showing the spider on a decorated plate. Even randomness has a sense of ordered chaos.

  13. Happy Blogoversary! I'll have a glass of wine tonight. In your honor, of course. ;D

    That note…I couldn't stop giggling…

    Then…

    THAT SPIDER!!! OMFG!!!

  14. Honey- you're not paid enough……

Don't even bring up the puppy poop in the house around here.

  15. Ugh, that spider is scary, even though I know it's just a picture. We've had a slew of spiders around here, including a wolf spider and two black widows. I'm moving somewhere where they don't have spiders or snakes or roaches or anything. Know where that is.?

I've heard the carpool lanes are insane, I dread the day when I get stuck sitting in it.

  16. A huge happy blogoversary to you! And your randomness had me ROFL!

And the spider reminded me of the original The Fly movie. You know where the the man's head is on a fly's body and he's trapped in a spider web yelling…

    Help me! Help me!

I really need some more Diet Dr. Pepper this morn.

  17. We have spiders like that all over here! They get in my house and I find them running around. The maintenance guys (We live in apartments)came by and sprayed some stuff around the outside one year and it kept them out like a wall.

    I think it's a wolf spider. Gross.

  18. Um, I'm gonna have to decline the invite to click on the last picture of the spider, Kimosabe. I'm afraid of them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. Um, I'm gonna have to decline the invite to click on the last picture of the spider, Kimosabe. I'm afraid of them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  20. That is a big 'ole honkin' spider!!

    YIKES!

I hope the marker washed out of her pants! Maybe you can sew a little something onto them so she doesn't feel the need to be so artistic in the future!

  21. Happy bloggerversary!

Yeah we have those spiders everywhere; they are either wolf spiders, grass spiders or house spiders…I did a whole post on them…it for sure is not a poisonous one, but they are fugly and shignasty mc-nastyness!

Loved the note; my daughter draws too…on herself, once with permanent marker, across her lip…no wait that was my son…wait, both of them. sigh.

  22. Congrats on your One Year Blogoversary!

Your daughter has really nice handwriting for a first grader. My oldest son started first grade and he still forgets to put spaces in between his words. I think his poor handwriting is an inherited condition from his father and I ๐Ÿ™‚

That is one fugly spider! Ick! I hate spiders!

  23. Ahhhh! Happy Blogoversary Stacy – let's hope you have many more…and if you don't, I will stalk you until you give in!

Sorry you came home to some 'presents', I used to do that sometimes when I came home to find my ex had let my hamster out for a walk around the living room – not pretty!

As for PN drawing on her pants. I'm sorry but you can't complain…your child has style. End of ๐Ÿ˜€ And how cute is that letter from school?!

And as for that spider – jeez Stacy, why did you have to put a photo on here? I feel sick just looking at photos and panic attacks when I see big ones lol. I don't cope well but so glad that sucker's dead!

Many happy returns Stacy blog – you rock!

  24. Happy Blogoversary!! And EWWWW that is one nasty BUG!! WTF kind of fugly spider is that…what was it feeding on? YICK. Love the pants, that is awesome, especially the "I'm sorry, Dear Mom and Dad" note! Classic!!

  25. Happy blogoversary!
Spiders? Wanna talk spiders? I get some beauts in my house that could qualify for horror movies. And I make John kill them EVERY TIME.

  26. Eww…Did you have to post the close up of the spider…I'm going to have nightmares, LOL!!
Too funny on the jeans, my daughter recently has come up with the "but mom, they're not decorated" line too. Wish she would have told me before I bought plain jeans!
I am so going to enter to win that wine when I get home! Happy blogoversary to ya!

  27. Martha in PA gets a gold star today!! Brown NOSE!!!

The spider is freaking scary. I do not need to click to make the spider any larger for me. Gross. I would never have been able to take a picture of it because I would have smashed it. Next time I'll take a pic first.

Poor PN her school year gets worse the more that I hear. Sitting on the bus for 20 to 30 minutes is just bs. Bus fumes are bad for your health. What are they going to do when it gets cold outside?

Our students also get dropped off early by the buses They come in and socialize in the common area before school. It is the duty of a couple of teachers to watch over the kids. They could at least come inside to sit at tables. Maybe even extra quiet reading time. Go to a PTO meeting to inquire if this is possible. We should be using every minute possible with the kids to teach them while they are away from the tv…. or at least socialize a little in the warmth of the building away from the bus fumes circulating.

    ok now I am cranky.

I am glad that you did not lock yourself out again.

  28. happy bloggerversary! your daughter is a cutie pie, and that spider is definitely fugly scary!

    thanks for stopping over!

  29. Happy Blogoversary!

P.S. Fugly is an understatement, in regards to the spider. I think I will pass on the offer to click and make the picture bigger. Eek!

  30. happy blogoversary! PN even made her jeans fancy for the event…lol. and the dogs brought presents..smiles. gotta love the drop off line. Logans bus driver is out this week so his bus has been late every day. braved the drop off line a few times afraid we missed it. bet the bus drivers hate that wait every morning…i would request extra pay. hope you had a great day!

  31. Boy, she really did a nice job on the Princess Nagger part of the writing haha! Happy one year anniversary! I am going to try to make it that long!

  32. My favorite pair of pants have doodles from High school all over them. I also had my friends sign the legs so that I would always remember them, they were my year book pants! lol.

  33. I don't mind spiders outside, but spiders who come inside will meet their end.
When we were moving, my MIL found these little balls under an outside table and said they are Black Widow eggs. EEKK!!

  34. Oh freakish of nature..if i would have seen that spider in my kitchen there would be screaming bloody murder all over the places!
As for the PN decorating skills..i may send one of my pair of jeans to her…she could make something pretty out of them…and then send them back..maybe I'll set a new trend here in Germany!:)

    Happy Random!

  35. Happy Blogoversary! One year, isn't it amazing how time flies. I can't believe the pants. Maybe you should get one of those bedazzlers and you can decorate everything she owns. Your spider is creepy. I hope he doesn't have a family living somewhere, waiting to ambush you.

  36. Woohoo!!! Happy Blogversary!! =D

Oh PN…what are ya gonna do? LOL (Is that really her note? Does she really call herself PN? If so, that's hilarious!) I guess now you know that she needs "decorations" on her clothes. Haha!

Ew! Ew! Ew! Ew! That spider is one creepy son of a ….gun!!!! Yikes!!!! ICK!!!

  37. She's so cute and extremely smart in coming home prepared with that note. She's going to be very creative.

    Happy Blogoversary to you!

  38. Happy Blogoversary!

Uh…that spider made my spine shiver!

FYI, the coloring on the pants tends to wash right out. ๐Ÿ˜‰
