First Day of Kindergarten 2008:
First Day of First Grade 2009:
Yes, I cut Princess Nagger’s hair this weekend to be ready for school – I didn’t realize I cut it to about the same length she started kindergarten with…I chopped off a good 3 inches so it wouldn’t be as difficult to brush out every day, since her hair is getting thick like her mama’s! 🙂

Princess Nagger’s first day of school went off without a hitch. When she got home yesterday afternoon and I asked how it went, her immediate response was “Great!” When hubby asked her the same question when he got home from work, her reply was “Better than better!” So maybe, just maybe I’ll have nothing to worry about with the teacher.

I haven’t spoken with her yet to have a few questions answered, but I’m just going to adopt the ‘wait and see’ mantra to well, wait and see how things go. I’m also going to be volunteering periodically in the classroom this year so I can see firsthand how the teacher actually does interact with the kids in the class, and assume for now that it’s polar opposite of the way she acted and spoke about kids in general on orientation night.

As soon as the necessary background checks come back (on me), I’ll be in like flint. I’ll keep you posted. At least tonight I’ll be able to rest easy knowing that Princess Nagger doesn’t hate school on her very first day. That’s a great start!

  2. It seems like summer just started.. where did it go? She looks like a peach, and good for you to be able to volunteer.. you can see exactly how her class is run!

  3. I love school pictures…and the back to school "look"! Thanks for sharing…
Hope you will stop by and visit my new Christmas blog that I launched today. The button on my regular blog will take you right to it….

  4. I'm glad things went well for PN, and that you are a little more at ease. I was thankful when Tara was in elem school, although I worked FT, I was able to participate in classroom activities!

  5. Great to hear she is loving school so far!

She is a little angel, just cute as she can be.

  6. What a cutie! Glad she is liking it. Maybe that teacher will be ok afterall. What a great idea to volunteer to be in the classroom. Great way to keep an eye on things!

  7. Yay! So glad it went better than you were expecting!

She is just too cute and her face seems to have 'matured' a lot since last year {and I'm not referring to the goofy face she's making, haha! :0P}.

  8. The first picture was like, "Yay Mom, take my picture"!

The second picture was like,"Can we get this over with"? LOL!

  9. Great pictures. Princess Nagger is super cute. Love the hand gestures in the first picture, like she has her own gang signs. Happy ATWT and take care.

  10. Hasn't she grown up a lot in the last year? It is amazing when you compare pictures!!

Glad to hear the first day went better than better!

  11. I'm glad her 1st day went off without a hitch!! It makes for a very long year when the first day is a disaster!! Your daughter is adorable!

  12. Aw, she looked so cute. So glad she loved her first day! But why did you cut her hair yourself?

    Justine 😮 )

  13. Happy First day!

We have school preview today (I nearly forgot until I read your post!!) School starts on Monday 🙂

  14. AH!!! Look at those little legs! I am so jealous!
    btw…teenagehood is right around the corner…. 🙂

  15. Princess Nagger's hair looks good! She's such a cutie and a goofball I love it!

You are such a good mom to be involved with her school, I'm so glad she had a better than better first day of school!

  16. YAY! for school. She looks excited in both pics. Amazing how much they grow each year isn't it?

  17. Yea! It's great to hear she enjoyed the first day. Maybe the teacher is very different with the kids, it will be interesting to see what you find out on your volunteer days.

  18. Best thing to manage long hair – braids. French braids, if you can. It's my daughter's trademark. No one recognizes her if she isn't wearing two french braids – when she has dance on Mondays after school and wears a bun or french crown everyone stares, because she looks much older and different. But braids are great to keep tangles away – she sleeps in them, too.

  19. Glad everything went well. I love color of her hair though she is so adorable. Nice haircut too 🙂

  20. She has the funniest expression in her first grade picture. So cute! I don't really think she's changed that much from last year to this year, do you?

  21. So glad all went well – when kids are happy everything seems right in the world. My son is having a hard time returning to preschool. It's a heartbreaker, but I have to believe it will work itself out..

Thanks for sharing such cute photos, too! What a sweet little girl you have!

  22. nice! great to hear day 1 is in the books and you are not already scheduling conferences with said teacher…lol. glad she enjoyed herself…

  23. I'm glad it went off without a hitch! We start on Monday… I'm sure our experience will be a little more screamy than yours since Elliot is going 3 half days a week and has horrible separation anxiety!

  24. I know you're a good mom because all you did was cut it, and not give her a perm like my mom did to me. That's right, first day of school I looked like Bozo the kid. Thanks mom, way to help me Not have any friends.
Very cool that you are pro active and getting involved in her classroom. Respect.

  25. PN looks adorable!! She is a rail like my oldest son. I just can not keep any weight on him at all. Her pictures show a very playful spirit. I look forward to hearing how she blossoms in the first grade.

  26. It sounds like you're doing a good job being mum on your feelings about the teacher when the Princess is around. Good job 🙂 And wow–she is so adorable. How do you let her go every morning?!
