While hanging out under the gazebo at our friends house in Louisiana, there were several dragonflies that would cavort around. Christy held out her finger and one happily landed:
Click on the images to see a better shot – I’m always amazed by their wings. Apparently if you have dragonflies in your area, that’s a good sign that the local water source is clean – they don’t like dirty water. Now that’s my kind of insect! 😉

Beautiful! I love the green color. Dragonflies intrigue me. I love that you used cavorting.. that is what they do.

I hate dragon flies! They look like they would be painful, even though they are not!
I also do not like dragon flies. They scare me. Too Big of a BUG!!
I love dragonflies!! I didn't know they were such picky drinkers. Good to know and I don't blame them!!
Squish it! All bugs are evil.
I love dragon flies. I never knew they came in all different colors till I moved up here. I will post my dragon fly picture Saturday! First one I saw here at the house all summer. It was a big one.
Dragonflies are so beautiful – I always end up with them on me when we are swimming. I love the colors.
I think I recognize that fella from Jumangi.
WOW! Those are beautiful photos. Happy ATWT!
Dragonflies are amazing…
I love dragonflies. They're one of the only insects I don't want to squash in to a greasy smear. Never seen one that bright green before. Very cool.
Those are such cool pictures! They really are beautiful insects.
Pretty dragonflies! Can't blame them for wanting the Sweet Tea. I am a fan of that myself 😉
Happy ATWT!
Those are actually quite pretty up close (for an insect)
I can't believe how many dragon flies we have around this year. I don't remember ever seeing so many!

Great! Now I'm panicking because we live near a large water source, and yet, dragonflies are suspiciously absent!!
You know when a dragonfly lands on you, you will hear good news from someone far away from home. So I'm told.
I was heading out the door when I read your post, but wanted to get you a comment so left it up. 🙂 The dragon fly is gorgeous. I didn't know that about the water and that makes me super happy, because my yard is full of them 🙂
If that landed on me, I'd seriously have a coronary. lol. I love to watch them…touch? Um. NO! lol
Wow I didn't know that about dragonflies, thanks for the tip! There are tons by the lake where we always camp! Great shots!
Good to know about the water source.
Imagine back in the dinosaur age when they had a three foot wingspan.
It makes sense, if I was a dragonfly, or a dragon even, I would enjoy Sweet Tea. Hell, I could do with some Sweet Tea right now.
Awww… That dragon fly is so delicate..
Nice blog u have.

So, I've always wondered, why do they call it "sweet" tea? Isn't it just tea?
Cool. I hear that dragonflies only live 24 hours…is that true?
I LOVE dragonflies! They're so beautiful! As a kid I was deathly afraid of them, 'cause my family called them dining NEEDLES, so no matter what they said, I thought they would sting me.

This is awesome! The dragon fly looks content to be there…uh…if dragon flies can look content! Haa!
