What a crazy busy week it’s been! My sinus infection is officially on its way out, and I’ve not been getting stuff done around the house. Yes, I said not. But C’est la vie – there’s always next week. Meanwhile this weekend has been jam packed with all things wine. In case you missed Friday’s post, I’m bottling Blackberry Merlot this weekend since it’s been aging quite nicely and is ready to be filtered and bottled. So yesterday I got all my ‘wine stuff’ together and sanitized all my equipment and the bottles and corks. Today is the filtering, bottling and corking – I’m very glad I invested in a floor corker – doing it either by hand or with a hand-corker was a major pain.
I’ve been trying to create a ‘just right’ label for this batch. That’s what I came up with above – what do you think? Perfect? Too busy? Just right? I’m still tweaking… Some people have asked if I sell my homemade wine – yes, I do (shameless plug) over on my site Savannah*Haven. You can email me through here or there if you want to reserve any bottles. I bought a shopping cart software package that I haven’t implemented yet, but I do have an order form you can fill out.

Oh, but it’s Sunday – so that means it’s time for Quotable Sunday! Of course this week I have chosen my quote on Wine… You saw that coming from a mile away, didn’t you? 😉 Enjoy the quotes!

“Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.”
Benjamin Franklin

“What is the definition of a good wine? It should start and end with a smile.”
William Sokolin

“Wine is bottled poetry.”
Robert Louis Stevenson

“Wine gives a man nothing… it only puts in motion what had been locked up in frost.”
Samuel Johnson

“Wine gives courage and makes men more apt for passion.”
Ovid

“The vine bears three kinds of grapes: the first of pleasure, the second of intoxication, the third of disgust”
Diogenes

“Don’t put new wine into old bottles”
Proverb

And my favorite:

“It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend, one’s present or future thirst, the excellence of the wine, or any other reason.”
Latin Proverb

  3. Your label is adorable. You definitely should have princess nagger on it. I am intrigued by the website on the label. I am clicking over now..

  4. I'm back…

How could I not know that you had a little something on the side!!! Do you let us know when things are ready to buy on this site?? I bet your products are absolutely outstanding.

  5. Okay, I totally love the warning label, but for the main label I don't think Savannah's picture should be there. I can't explain exactly why… maybe because it's wine and she's a kid? I don't know. it just doesn't look right to me. Hey, you wanted our opinions, right?
How many bottles will you be bottling?

    Justine 😮 )

  6. $264.00 for a bottle of wine? Jesus, it's just fermented grape juice!-Otin at a fancy retaurant

  7. I like the label a lot! I checked out the Savannah *Haven website too, very cool!
I am a big wine fan myself, Reds especially. I also love all the quotes but the Latin Proverb is probably my favorite too!
    Have a great week!

  8. Sounds like you are very busy. When do you find time to make wine?
I will check out your site.

  9. I so wish I liked wine. I just don't drink it. I do love the quotes though. This is one of my most favorite memes.

  10. Sorry to hear you've had a sinus infection, Stacy….and love the wine quotes….:)))

  11. I love the warning label! I like the wine label too. I think you could make the image on the bottom smaller and put the lovely face more toward the center.

  12. I am sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I hope your sinus infection is letting up. I adore your label and warning label. Brilliant! Happy Sunday.

  13. I. FRAKKIN'. LOVE. WINE.

Robert Louis Stevenson has it absolutely right–wine IS poetry.

I'm looking at your wine website now. The concord wine looks pretty good, but that APPLE wine–will you let us know when you have it ready, pretty, pretty please?!?! It looks soooooo good!

  14. I'm so envious of your wine making. Not the biggest fan of Merlot, but let me know if you dabble with Tempranillo.

  15. I bet this will be terrific! I love a nice Merlot.

    Your label is very nice!

  16. You've come up with a very cute label. Your little one is such a lucky little cover girl.

You should take some photos of this wine making, bottling, etc. That would be really interesting (unless it's a secret)

I sure am glad your sinus infection is going away!

  17. I love the label but if you're going to use PN on it, you'll have to change her name to Princess Wine-r.

  18. Blackberry wine sounds wonderful – wine is not a friend to me, though, so I wouldn't actually try it – my last wine encounter got me a day in the ER hooked up to IVs. That was only a year and a half a go.

I bet it is a beautiful color.

  19. That is so cool, that you make your own wine. I would love to try that someday, although I am sure it is complicated for someone who doesn't do it regularly.

  20. "Bottled Poetry" for sure! I can't wait!!

(Great job on the labels, both of them.)

  21. Love the labels… I MISSED quotable Sunday – UGH. It's Tuesday, I guess it's too late. Better schedule something now for next week. I'm headed to savannah-haven now.

  22. Love the warning label! LOL I am SO ordering some of your wine. Just can't do it at the moment.
