It’s Sunday – so that means it’s time for Quotable Sunday! Toni‘s at BlogHer this weekend, so I’m not sure if she’s doing this today, but I’m going to anyway… 🙂 Yesterday some friends and I were waxing poetic about friends and friendship, past, present, new, old, lost and found…so I decided this week I’d find quotes about Friends. To those friends’o’mine, and you know who you are, these are for you! 😉

“Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.”
Tennessee Williams

“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.”
Bernard Meltzer

“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”

“A friend is someone who, upon seeing another friend in immense pain, would rather be the one experiencing the pain than to have to watch their friend suffer.”

“True friends stab you in the front.”
Oscar Wilde

“Friends are God’s way of apologizing to us for our families.”

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one!”
C.S. Lewis

“One measure of friendship consists not in the number of things friends can discuss, but in the number of things they need no longer mention.”
Clifton Fadiman

“Friends are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to hear the answer.”

“It is by chance that we met, by choice that we became friends.”

“Friends are like bras: close to your heart and there for support.”

“Friends aren’t jumper cables. You don’t throw them into the trunk and pull them out for emergencies.”

“A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.”
Arnold H. Glasgow

  1. “Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”

    That's the one. Luv you!

  2. I've been thinking a lot about friends, too. The older I get, the more important they seem to be.

  3. Well damn, I thought you were going to do quotes from FRIENDS. Argh

    Justine 😮 )

  4. I thought of this on another site that I commented on:
Friends are like pennies, you hold onto them, sometimes you put them aside, but when you need them, you search for them and find that they are always there to help you out!-Otin

  5. love the friend quotes this week! yup the egg one is my favorite 🙂 very cute. have a good Sunday!

  6. Hello – stopping by from the Blog Hop (thanks for stopping by mine!).

I love these quotes – especially the jumper cable one…isn't that the truth!

I'm planning on going to blogher 10…are you? Oh the trouble we could get into!

  7. I love this one…
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one!”
    C.S. Lewis

I think you and I had a "blog" moment like that somewhere along the way!

  8. Excellent quotes! My all time favourite is:
“Friends are God's way of apologizing to us for our families.”

  9. Love this one:
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one!”
But really I love them all! One of my favorite quote topics.
    Have a great Sunday!

  10. The CS Lewis quote about apologizing for family was always one of my favorites. It always puts a little smile on my face.

  11. “Friends are God's way of apologizing to us for our families.”

    Isn't that the truth!

  12. Oh there are too many wonderful quotes in here to single out favourites, although I have to say that Oscar Wilde always has a way of saying things rather well. Thanks so much for sharing these with us. I find that friendships are becoming more and more important to me the further and further away I live from my family.

  13. Oh, this is this week's Spin Cycle topic, you should submit this post!

I like the one about friends actually waiting to hear your response when they ask how you are. I've run into so many people who just want to babble on about themselves instead.

  14. Love these quotes, truly inspiring! Makes me miss my closest friends even more. One of my friends once told me, and this isn't really a quote but I just wanted to share it anyway, that the happiest friends are not the ones who have the same characters, the same likes, or the same opinions. It's the people that somehow find a balance between each other and learn to accept and respect each others' differences.

  15. Haha Love this!

“Friends are like bras: close to your heart and there for support.”

    And this one too:

“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.”
    Bernard Meltzer
