So the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday. Yeah, I know, that’s old news. Well, unless you live in a cave, then there ya go…new news! π
We were supposed to wake up to snow this morning. Those that are they were calling whomever they call for snow, but apparently those they called didn’t answer. No snow this morning, not even a trace.
Princes Nagger got a Snow Ice Day last week because we got maybe an inch-and-a-half of snow that promptly got covered by freezing rain. Might as well have covered it in saran wrap, you can’t walk in the snow or play in the snow – just ask our dog – he was slipping and sliding and couldn’t get any good footing to annoy the neighbor’s dog that always comes over to visit. But I imagine the neighbor’s dog is mad at the fact that our pond is frozen over – he can’t run over at high speed and leap directly into the middle of it…well, he could, but he wouldn’t be swimming with the fishes like he likes to do…(snicker!)
With all this messy muddy weather we’ve been having, my floors are beginning to look horrible. No matter how often I clean them. From the dog, you say? Nope! I get the dog to stop just inside the door and sit so I can wipe his feet off before letting him wander through the house. The problem is hubby. He comes in and leaves footprints and melting ice puddles all over the place… Wonder what it would take to get him to ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ at the back door until his feet are dry? Guess I’ll have to think up some kind of doggy treat for him. Oh wait, that didn’t sound right…
Speaking of doggy treats – I went to a picnic once with some friends and had some bone-shaped doggy treats for my dog. As a joke, I put ’em on a plate and added them to the table with the buffet. Yep, you guessed it – people took ’em! One guy asked where I got those great cookies…I told him. He was a good sport, though, he ate it, then complained he found a hair in it. Good times. π
OK, so I’ve had this new laptop for about 6 months, I upgraded from one I had ‘special ordered’ that had a built in card reader for my digital camera. I never looked at this one to see if it had that, I just assumed it didn’t. Well, it does…just discovered it last night…D’OH! That’ll teach me to assume… That’s going to make transferring pictures from my digital camera a lot easier/faster than having to plug it in through the USB cord…especially when I keep misplacing that darn cord. Now to remember to put the card back in the camera so I’m not taking pictures on its internal memory and have to use the USB cord to transfer…can’t remember where I put the cord…
Speaking of memory, I finally ordered more memory for my laptop – it really gets sluggish when I have 20 tabs open in my browser, desktop email going and anything else…because I like to multitask you know. Well, sure, I do get distracted, but I sometimes call it multitasking. π I got tired of the ‘hurry up and wait’ mode I was experiencing every time I was on this laptop…can’t get as much done as I want when I’m having to wait for it to respond. Now I have to figure out when to pull myself away from the computer long enough to power it down and open it up to replace the original memory – one of the cards is located under the keyboard…that will be fun…
Too bad we can’t just buy memory to plug into our brains – think of how helpful that would be…wait, what was I talking about again? (snicker!)
Princess Nagger: “I think I’d like to do the balance tables.”
Me: “OK, you can do that, want me to set it up for you?”
Princess Nagger: “Well, no, because I’m not a Mommy.”
Me: “What? What in the world are you talking about?”
Princess Nagger: “I can’t play with the WiiFit, because I’m not a Mommy.”
Me: “Why would you have to be a Mommy to do the WiiFit?”
Princess Nagger: “Because! It’s WiiFit Mommies, Mama!”

Wow, we think alike! And our hubbies are the same dirty footed people. π
That’s hilkarious about the Princess! At least you don’t have to share! π
I can’t believe they stuffed the poor groundhog. So sad.
We don’t have the snow in the house problem here in FL but the dogs track in mulch and my daughter eats it. That’s a fun choking hazard.
happy groundshogs day backatcha!!!! im so glad to be back among the cybersisterhood of bloggers – well, i know there’s a few brothers, too, but mostly its nice to be back!!! hope you will check out my list of items for my superawesome giveaway!!!!
I have said it all day that the groundhog is a scam!
Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha
The groundhog thing has GOT to be a scam. I’m sure it’s related to commerce somehow.
I fixed Mr. Linky and linked you up! Happy Tuesday!
Hey- I’m sending you some nice weather for the weekend π
Maybe you can meet us at Panera now
hello stacy! i have an award for you http://www.mommyjourney.com/2009/02/one-lovely-blog-award.html
i really like your site!
Well in Texas I don’t have to worry about ice and snow; albeit it would be a nice change to the cold mornings and then 80 degree days… makes the immune system kick into full blast with that kind of weather change!
I got my youngest dirvish to do the hula hoops… how the heck she can beat me I’ll never know… I think it’s the lack of children she has yet to have…
Oh, you sweet, wonderful girl! Plugging us in a Random Tuesday post! I wish I could drive to your house and kiss your face. You must not live too far from me, we’re having the same weather issues.
LOL
This was a great random post. From Groundhog’s Day to Doggy Treats to Laptop to Wii Fit! HeeHee!
I wonder if the groundhog even has the credentials to predict weather trends like that? Much less if he’s dead and stuffed. My kids think taxidermy is sick and inhumane, I didn’t argue that logic with them since they are diehard carnivores. Maybe it’s okay if you eat them first. Happy Random Tuesday.
I wish my Princess would think like that LOL here word Mommy means it’s hers!
I love coming over here:) I always leave with a smile!
Love the doggie biscuits story!!1 LOL!
Is Phil really stuffed? So who is using his poor stuffed body to predict the weather? Maybe it is a conspiracy with the mitten sellers. Six more weeks of selling mittens.
I wish my kids thought they weren’t allowed to use the Wii Fit. Anytime I get on it, I get asked, “Can I try?”
I’d like a little… no, a LOT of extra memory for my brain.
Davida
@blueviolet: That’s cool, Elizabeth! I had a feeling we were on the same page mentally…(grin!!) That’s funny your hubby is like mine with the dirty foot syndrome…(snicker!)
@Aunt LoLo: For some reason the Princess Nagger takes great pleasure in watching me on the WiiFit…I make her laugh. π And she’s a great little cheerleader…and nags me to do well, too…(grin!!)
@Casey: Stuffed groundhog is sad…(heh, heh!!) Ewwww! Eating mulch definitely isn’t a good fiber for her to be ingesting… π
@annie kelleher: Glad you’re back, Annie! π I’ll be heading over later to check out your giveaways! π
@Stesha: I agree, Stesha – it’s just another excuse for a party! π
@Keely: LOL Keely! You might have something there…it’s a conspiracy with commerce! π Thanks for fixing Mr. Linky and hooking me up… π
@I am Harriet: I see that it’s going to hit 50 this weekend…sheesh! It needs to really make up its mind…Winter or Spring?! You mean the Panera’s here, right? (snicker!!)
@Chris: Awww, thanks, Chris! I’ll be over to check it out…I’m behind on acknowledging recent awards and such, hopefully I’ll get caught up soon… π
@vsm/whirling dirvish photography: Yes, drastic weather changes like that encourage major tests to the immune system for sure… π Your youngest dirvish beat you on the hula hoops, hmmm? The Princess Nagger hasn’t beaten me on them…yet…but it won’t be long, I’m sure! LOL!! She does, however, kick my butt big time in bowling…(grin!!)
@Julie@Cool Mom Guide: LOL Julie! You’re so funny! You always make my day! π I think we must be in the same weather zone… π
@Aubrey: Thanks, Aubrey… random is what I do best! (snicker!!) π
@mrsbear: You know, Mrs. Bear, you do bring up an interesting point…wonder if he has the proper clearance for his high profile job? LOL…taxidermy is OK if you eat them first…hilarious! π Happy Random Tuesday to you! π
@Firefly: Oh that’s funny your Princess thinks if it’s ‘Mommy’, it’s HERS…’cuz YOU are HER Mommy! π Too funny! π
@Bee and Rose: Awww, thank you so much! π Yeah, that friend will never live that doggy biscuit story down…(snicker!!)
@Anne: Yes, the original Phil is stuffed. There are descendants (who knows if they’re from the actual ‘Phil’…) but they still have the original ‘stuffed’ Phil presiding. I’ve never figured out who actually makes the final determination. Sure, once upon a time when the Farmer’s Almanac was just a dream, people relied on ‘nature’ to help them determine what weather lay ahead…a live groundhog left to his own devices probably did do that very well…but now, it’s pretty much commercialized like lots of things…so really, who actually determines whether or not Phil sees his shadow? If you were happily napping in a cozy hole and popped your head out to find out what all the noise and lights were about, you’d be scared and go right back into that cozy hole, too! π
That’s funny your kids are anxious for a turn on the WiiFit when you get on it…I’m sure my time will come with the Princess Nagger nagging me to let her have a turn…(grin!!)
@attygnorris: LOL Davida! I could sure use some today…and a major energy boost, I have ‘foggy brain’ today from lack of sleep… π
Thanks so much, everyone, for stopping by! π
Okay! First of all, you just BLEW MY MIND with your in-depth groundhog’s day questions. I’ll never look at this “holiday” the same way again-lol! Your poor puppy, thwarted by all that ice! Sounds like such a good dog, sitting until you can wipe his paws. My Katie is balking when it’s time to go out-I swear she runs and pees so quickly that she practically levitates and then flies back through the door like a shot! You’re going to replace a card under your keyboard?! I didn’t even know you could DO that! I open a gazillion tabs at a time, too, mostly researching and linking, you know. Your little girl is so funny! Isn’t it cute when they hit that “literal” stage? Thanks for the smiles. π
I got distracted by all the cute buttons on your blog, I hardly remember what I was going to say! Um, thought I had it…no, there it goes again! But I loved reading your random thoughts, and I’ll be back!
@Shangrila: LOL Shangrila! Blowing people’s minds is a wonderful thing…even if it’s just one person…you made my day! (grin!) My dog is (mostly) a good dog – he does give me a ‘look’ when I send him out in inclement weather…and sometimes he’ll decide he doesn’t want to give in to my pleas for him to go potty…so when my back is turned, he’ll leave a nice steamy pile on the porch so he doesn’t have to actually go OUT in the weather. Luckily he only does that once in a while… π That’s a funny image – your dog levitating to avoid getting her paws on the wet or icy stuff…heh, heh! Yes, I was surprised to find out that my Dell laptop has a memory card under the keyboard…it has the ‘regular’ bay on the bottom, so I was a little disconcerted to find a card there that only had half the memory the computer claimed it had…so I Googled it, and found a step-by-step instructional page that even had pictures of each step…what a relief! And now my computer is running the way I thought it should have been running all along…researching and linking will go much smoother now! π The literal stage is fun…though I have a feeling it’s going to be much more than a ‘stage’, since hubby is Literal Man…she takes after him in that department…so I’m outnumbered in the literal world…(grin!) Thanks so much for stopping by! π
@Ginny Marie: That’s too funny, Ginny Marie – I find I have the same trouble visiting other blogs too…I get distracted by things on their blog and forget what I was going to put in the comment…or think I commented, and when I stop back by, find I hadn’t…LOL!! Thanks so much for stopping by! π
The dirty floors of winter make me crazzzzzzy! Between the 2 dogs, the 2 boys, and the husband…it is a losing battle.
I can tell that you type like you talk!! You have me laughing out loud!! Great random post!
kids are so buy the book aren’t they
I hate that stupid groundhog. He sucks. Funny with the Wii Fit comment!
Oh, and I’ve just given up on the floors. I’m just ignoring them until summer.
You’re funny (so is the princess!) I love the idea about buying more memory for our brains–if only! Loved your randomness today π
Please stop by my blog. I gave you an award!
Lydia
i never knew all that about the groundhog. great random post.
@Jenni: It is a losing battle, isn’t it? Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one going crazzzzzzzzzy about it, Jenni! π
@MySweetThree: Awww, thank you so much! Thanks a bunch for stopping by! π
@Kristen Andrews: Absolutely ‘by the book’…just wish I knew where ‘the book’ was so I could be a step ahead…(grin!!)
@FoN: The groundhog is a scam…it’s gotta be! π Now there’s an idea…ignore the floors until summer…I just might have to adopt that idea! π
@Nicole: Thanks so much, Nicole! π It would be great to be able to buy more memory for our brains…I know I could use some extra sometimes! π
@On The Verge: Oh bless your heart, Lydia! I’ll be by shortly! π Thank you! π
@Fearless Mom: Glad I was able to fill you in on some random groundhog info…(grin!!) Thanks so much for stopping by! π
