I’m really late posting my Fitness Friday post, but for good reason. Remember I posted yesterday about the Curse of the 6 Year Molar? Turns out I was wrong. Way wrong. While the Princess Nagger slept OK last night (only a few times tossing and turning and whimpering, poor thing) and woke up at 4:30 moaning and crying (at which time I gave her 1-1/2 teaspoons of Nyquil to let her go back to sleep), I decided mid-morning I was going to be proactive and call the school to let them know I planned on keeping her home today.
I had checked on her several times throughout the morning and she looked like she was finally sleeping peacefully, so I wanted her to get as much sleep as possible to make up for the lack of sleep the last couple of nights. I figured it’d be better to be safe than sorry by keeping her home, after all, she was crying a lot last night before bed in pain, and I didn’t think that pain would be gone overnight. I was right about that.
What I wasn’t prepared for was when she came downstairs between 11:00 and 11:30, she had dried blood all over her face….and her neck…and some on her arms. WTF? I tried not to alarm her by asking her what happened to her face – I had visions that the molar had broken through and caused her to bleed. But at first glance there was no sign of the molars. I got my flashlight and checked, couldn’t see where the blood was coming from, until she lifted her tongue. Her gums next to her back teeth on the inside were swollen, I saw a white bump and next to that, the bleeding continued. I freaked out a little.
I immediately called the dentist – but of course their office is closed on Friday. Luckily they supply the cell phone of the dentist in case of emergency. This was definitely an emergency. I left a message and waited impatiently. 30 minutes later, I called and left another message. And 20 minutes after that, I left another message reiterating urgency. I was concerned that the Princess Nagger hadn’t been able to eat any solid food for 2-3 days, and today she was having trouble swallowing – because of the swelling inside her mouth, which was also evident with major swelling in her cheek and under her chin. Just as I was getting ready to call the Pediatrician so someone could take a look today, the dentist returned my call and agreed to meet me in her office at 2:00. >whew!<
The Poor Princess Nagger did not want to go to the dentist – she had to have some fillings in a few of her teeth about 4 months ago (thanks to inheriting ‘soft’ teeth from me), and did not enjoy that experience. It took all my coaxing and some bribery to get her to willingly go in to have her teeth cleaned just 10 days ago. I reassured her it was just to see what’s going on in her mouth, that the dentist will probably give her an antibiotic so the pain will go away.
Little did I know…
It turned out that the one tooth in the back that she had to have a filling put in had a ‘pocket’ hidden by the filling…so it got infected. What’s interesting is that it wasn’t noticed when the Princess Nagger and I were in the dentist office getting our teeth cleaned – just 10 days ago – even with the tooth-by-tooth inspection. Unfortunately, since the tooth was infected, it meant that it had to come out. Immediately. Poor Princess Nagger! She was not happy about this turn of events. Neither was I.
Remember how I’ve mentioned that she has a set of lungs on her? Good thing there was no one in the office save myself, the dentist and one technician – the Poor Princess Nagger screamed like she was being murdered. We had to spend some time calming her down so she could breath through her nose and let the laughing gas take effect. My heart was breaking as I had to hold her legs down with one hand while she squeezed tightly on my other hand as the dentist twisted and pulled the rogue tooth out…it took all I had to not start crying because I knew that it would upset the Princess even more.
Luckily she settled down as soon as the tooth was out…and only cringed and whimpered a few times while the dentist put in a temporary spacer. The poor little chipmunk is in drinking a chocolate milkshake and flying her toy airplane she picked from the prize basket – she was truly a little trooper! From what I understand, when her 6 year molars do finally decide to make their appearance, there won’t be as much pain (or blood) as there was today…here’s hoping!
Now on to my Fitness Update – this week I got to ROCK my WiiFit…for ONE day! WooHoo!Β But you know what? That’s OK…in spite of the lack of sleep and mental strain dealing with the Princess Nagger’s tooth issues and Hovering Hubby’s sinus infection (with time off work) and nightly snoring (infringing on my good night’s sleep), I still had a chance to have a date with my WiiFit one day this week, and still managed to lose 2 more pounds. So even though I didn’t get to have as much fun as other weeks, I’m still making progress!
Of course that means that I didn’t hit my goal of 2000 on the Hula Hoops (hear that Jenn? Didja get there yet? *grin!*) I did, however, increase my score by one point, so I reached 1994 (bet I would have gotten to 2000 if I had been able to use my WiiFit more this past week…*grin!!*)
So this week is short and sweet…but I am doing a happy dance for the absence of 2 more pounds – and I’ve got my fingers crossed that the Princess Nagger’s mouth will heal nicely over the weekend so we can get back to ‘normal’ next week. Tonight I’m going to treat myself to a bottle of some wine and head over to Ann’s VGNO earlier than I did last week… π
If you have a WiiFit and want to join in the fun, please do! You won’t be sorry…it’s great to have such a fun support group at the WiiFit Mommies Forum. There are some great parties and giveaways coming up that you won’t want to miss!
Until next week – have fun on your WiiFit workouts and don’t forget to sign Mr. Linky with your weekly WiiFit adventure posts! π
While I’m at it, why not start the party now?

Time For A Party Game!
In honor of the Academy Awards that are happening this Sunday the 22nd, Ann has suggested we play… “I Would Like To Thank”. List 3 people/things/situations that you would like to thank.
- I Would Like To Thank… the dentist and the dental technician for coming in on their day off to take care of the Princess Nagger today.
- I Would Like To Thank… the Princess Nagger for being such a trooper today when clearly she was in pain.
- I Would Like To Thank… all my wonderful readers and bloggy friends for being so patient while I commence to play catch-up!
Your turn! I can’t wait to see what you come up with…
OK now, hop on over to Ann’s to join the Virtual GNO. Sign Mr. Linky and visit those that sign-in! Go blog-hopping! And most importantly, Have Fun!
I think you have an excellent reason not to have reached your goal! I haven’t met mine for weeks!
Hope she is doing well now.
The poor princess! I have a tooth the needs to be pulled, but I have to wait until the twins are born, so I do understand her pain. Hope she feels better soon!
Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha
Oh my gosh-your poor baby!! π
I hope your daughter is ok. Let us know..
Oh, I hope everything works out okay and I hear ya on the last posting, i didn’t get the main one up until after noon!
tooth issues with the kids really stinks…sorry she has been in such pain…hopefully it will heal really quick and everyone gets some rest! Way to go losing a couple pounds without even using the Wii fit much!
The poor princess! I hope she feels better! Hopefully she will sleep a bit more this weekend and those teeth will pop in while she is asleep! Happy GNO
Hi! Am stopping by from VGNO! It’s really nice to meet you! And your daughter’s adorable!
P.S. I’m a friend of Yaya’s, too. Now I know why she’s such a fan! π
You keep losing weight like that and you are going to just waste away (and make all of us look bad!) JK…. congrats on the two pounds. Hope Princess Nagger is feeling better now.
Stop by if you get a chance, I’m planning a Virtual Girls Getaway and I want you to come!
Happy VGNO!
Stopping in from the VGNO. Hope your little Princess gets better soon.
Hi Stacy!
Thanks for visiting during Ann’s GNO. (Don’t you just LOVE her? She’s the best.)
I really want a Wii fit too! I can’t stand the gym so doing something fun at home seems pretty cool. Sounds like you’re having a good time with it.
Happy Friday!
Oooo, thank you. I’m gonna grab your button and follow you. Uh oh,this is starting to sound like the beginnings of a poker game.
Poor Princess Nagger. I would of freaked out to over the blood!!
On a lighter note, happy Friday night!!
Oh poor thing! I am so sorry she had such a difficult time. I would have panicked when I saw her face.
Have a nice weekend!!!
Wow! You had quite a week. I hope your daughter is feeling much better now. I have a major fear of the dentist so I can relate to the kicking and screaming.
Are you losing pounds just by using the Wii fit or are you changing your diet? I’m looking for easy (if that’s possible) weight loss ideas.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great weekend!!
Poor little sweetie! I hope she’s feeling better:) That is rough when teeth are pulled…How are you holding up? Hang in there:)
Sending you get well wishes!
Oooh poor little teeth! Ouch!! I sure hope she’s all done with that soon. I *loved* that you included your dentist in your award speech… π Happy Friday!
Hope your Little Princess feels better…that was so nice of the Dentist! Love your blog…happy VGNO :O)
Oh Stacy, my heart was breaking for Princess Nager the entire time I was reading that. I’m so glad you were persistent about calling the dentist to figure it out. Here’s hoping PN feels better this weekend!
I’ve been hula hooping a lot lately and I still look like the biggest dork there is. Maybe one day I’ll look cooler doing it!
Good GRIEF! Poor little Munchkin! I got all teary-eyed for her while reading. And I know how excrutiating it is to have to hold them down when they are writhing like that. It goes against every mommy instinct there is. Many hugs to you guys! I hope she gets over it quickly. Happy VGNO!
Oh poor Princess, I can just imagine all the pain π
cool thank you list π
Glad your daughter is OK and you lived thru it!!
stopping by from Ann’s GNO!
Oh my!! That poor princess. Bless her heart. I don’t think I would take all that very well either. Hope the next round goes much, much smoother.

Hi Stacy.
Happy Saturday to you!
I love the colors you use on your blog. Nice ideas too.
Poor little girl! OUCHY! I hope she’s feeling better now!
Congrats on getting on your WiiFit this week! =D I’ve only used ours one time since we got it. =( (I’m blaming it on the stupid cord set up we have!)
@Debbie: LOL Debbie! Thanks! π Princess Nagger is doing much better today, thanks! π
@Stesha: Oh NO…you poor thing having to deal with the pain! Wonder if it will make your contractions seem less painful? π Thanks for the well wishes – she’s doing much better today! She woke up all freaked out because her mouth was bleeding again – but I packed it with gauze for about an hour, and it stopped. Her poor little swollen face is getting back to normal too… π
@Yaya: Totally broke my hear to see her in such anguish!
@Jolene: She’s doing much better today, thanks – she was very proud that she was able to eat her chicken nuggets I picked up for her yesterday…LOL! π
@Julie@Cool Mom Guide: I still have to go around and visit the Mr. Linky blogs to read about everyone’s progress! I’m so behind… π
@Colleen: I agree…kid tooth issues really stink! π I have a feeling everyone is going to be sleeping ultra soundly tonight! π Thanks for the cheer! π
@Jenn@mylifewiththecrazies: Thanks so much, Jenn! She’s doing much better today…finally back to eating solid foods! WooHoo! π
@Kitten: Thanks so much, Kitten! Glad you could stop by – it’s nice to ‘meet’ you, too! π Yaya’s a sweetheart, isn’t she? Thanks so much for the compliments! π
@Just A Mom (Call me JAM for short): LOL JAM! You crack me up! π Loved the Virtual Girls Getaway – that was so much fun participating last night! Everyone is so much fun and had some great ideas to expound on your cool getaways! Looking forward to what fun you conjure up for next weekend, too! π
@Angela: Thank you so much, Angela! It was fun ‘partying’ with you last night! π The Princess Nagger is feeling much better today, thanks! π
@Robin: Hi Robin! You’re very welcome – ditto for you! π I do LOVE Ann – she hosts some FUN parties, doesn’t she? π I am having a blast with the WiiFit! If I had to choose between a gym membership or a WiiFit, I’d absolutely choose the WiiFit. Had a gym membership once-upon-a-time, but never could get myself motivated to go there regularly. I’m a lot more motivated with the WiiFit and it’s way more fun (for me) than the gym! π
@Angela: LOL Angela! VGNO Poker Night…you’ve got something there! π
@pam: Freak out did occur…but I tried to hide it so as not to freak out the Princess Nagger… π Thanks for stopping by – hope you had a fun VGNO! π
@Upstatemomof3: I wouldn’t with that on anybody, that’s for sure! I did sort of panic when I saw her face – but had to not let it show too much so she wouldn’t get all freaked out herself. π Hope you’re having a great weekend! π
@Jessica: I did have quite a week, didn’t I? LOL! I can understand a fear of the dentist – I was lucky my childhood dentist was such a saint and an awesome dentist…haven’t found one that compares, though, so I’m not quite as willing to subject myself anymore… π My hubby has an extreme fear of dentists – as does the Princess Nagger. Hubby apparently punched a dentist once years ago…heh, heh! π
I’m losing pounds mostly by using the WiiFit…I have changed a couple of things diet-wise by drinking more water (which I’m still struggling to do…I still do not drink as much as I’m ‘supposed’ to…) And now I eat a ‘sensible’ breakfast – I used to NEVER eat breakfast, so I think now that I’m being kind to myself by eating breakfast, it really is helping my slow-as-molasses metabolism a bit more… π As far as a whole ‘totally change my diet’ thing? Not so much…but I am being conscientious about not eating too much – I stop eating when I’m actually full rather than after it’s too late and I feel hugely bloated…and regretful for eating too much! π
@Bee and Rose: I felt SO BAD for the Princess Nagger yesterday – she looked so pitifully forlorn! She's doing MUCH better today – she did have some bleeding this morning which stressed her out, but I packed her 'extraction site' with gauze for about an hour, and that seemed to do the trick. >whew!< I'm holding up much better today – thank you so much for asking! And thanks for the get well wishes – they're working! π
@GinSpaghetti: Ouch!! Is right! π She’s doing really well, and looks like she’s totally done. She didn’t have any cavities with the teeth cleaning week-and-a-half ago, so we’re good to go until August…heh, heh! I had to include the dentist in the award speech – she so deserves accolades for coming in on her day off to take care of the Princess Nagger… π
@~Sandy~: Thanks so much, Sandy! The Princess Nagger is feeling much better today, thank goodness! π Thanks for the compliments – enjoyed visiting your blog, too! π VGNO was fun! π
@Casey: Awwww, bless your heart, Casey! I’m glad the dentist was so willing to see the Princess Nagger on her day off – I didn’t want to have to take her in to see a strange dentist who might not be as patient with her crying and screaming… π She feels much better today – getting back to her cute perky self! π
ROTFLMAO on the visual image you just gave me about looking like a dork hula hooping – I’m sure I do, too, otherwise Princess Nagger wouldn’t laugh at me so much when I’m doing it…though I gotta give her props, she also cheers me on and encourages me to do it! π
@Shannah: Awww, thanks so much, Shanna! You are so right – holding them down goes against every mommy instinct there is. Thank you so much for the hugs! It was fun partying with you VGNO style last night! π
@Firefly: Thanks, Firefly – luckily she’s feeling much better today! π
@The Daily Blonde: Thank you so much! It was fun ‘partying’ with you on the VGNO last night! π
@Tabitha Blue/Fresh Mommy: Thank you, Tabitha! Hopefully there won’t be a ‘next round’ until her 6 year molars come in…and hopefully those won’t be as traumatic as this was…(grin!)
@Stesha: WooHoo! Wenda has graced me with her presence yet again! π
@I am Harriet: Thanks Harriet! Happy Saturday to you, too! π
@sistersledgekws: Thank you so much! π I appreciate you stopping by! π
@Megan: Thank you very much, Megan – she is feeling much better today, thank goodness!
Thanks for the kind words! Oh, the stupid cord set up will get you every time…(grin!!)
Wow, I don’t know what impresses me more! That you lost another 2 pounds, or you replied to every single comment!
I am so glad you are patting yourself on the back for using the Wii Fit one day. That’s the way it should be. You really do rock!
And having to go through that with your daughter must have been awful! I hope she is feeling better.
@Sarah: LOL Sarah! π I decided to adopt Julie’s plea last week to not use the word ‘only’…I did good, huh? (grin!!)
It was awful going through the whole tooth issue with the Princess Nagger – heartbreaking to see her in so much pain…but yes, she is definitely back to her old self today – she was all excited she actually could chew again! LOL!! She’s still talking a little funny, but I’m sure her mouth is still sore from yesterday. She is such a little trooper! π
Thanks for your comment – you made my night! π
Oh my gosh, Stacy, how awful! I’m glad you caught it and took care of it though. The poor little thing..I feel so bad for her.
