This week was much better than last week! Though I didn’t get to use my WiiFit every day this week (life got in the way), but I did get to play with it 3 days this week, which is certainly better than nothing…and I lost yet another 2 pounds! WooHoo! I kinda had a feeling that I wasn’t going to get to play on it every day, so when I did, I took advantage and spent 1-1/2 hours on it each time (for a total of 4-1/2 hours for the week – not counting the WiiSki time noted later in this post), so that definitely helped! πŸ˜‰

Unfortunately I didn’t hit my goal of 2000 on the Hula Hoops (hear that Jenn? Didja get there yet? *grin!*) I seem stuck at 1993…but hey, there’s always next week…and if Jenn hasn’t beaten me there yet, I still have hope! (evil grin!) I’m really excited to find out what EA Sports has up their sleeves – in case you missed it, one of our fearless leaders, Julie, has been invited to a retreat hosted by EA Sports Active and Oprah’s very own Bob Greene and is getting to try out a new game they have coming in the future…and it’s apparently supposed to be a sweet addition to the WiiFit workout-wise. I’m still shopping around for Nintendo’s Outdoor Challenge game that so many people have been raving about. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one of those soon, because it sounds pretty radical, too! πŸ™‚

Meanwhile, I did get to try out the WiiSki that I got in the mail last week – one thing I didn’t do was read the instructions before plugging it in. 20 minutes of ‘ski school’ to learn the controls and tricks, and I kept thinking to myself that it was kind of lame because if I was only going to be using the controllers and not the balance board, where’s the ‘workout’ in that? Well, except your arms… πŸ™‚ So of course the Princess Nagger being the smart alec she is, was looking through the booklet and said “It’s compatible with the WiiFit Balance Board, Mama, why don’t you have the balance board turned on?” So I had to actually read the instructions and see how to connect the balance board to the game…

Once I did that, I discovered when I tried to do some of the races – like the mogul race in particular, most of my training at the ski school was for naught, because I didn’t do the ‘training’ with the balance board. But I still had fun exploring, skiing down the slopes, talking to various characters and trying to do the scavenger hunt they have that is supposed to help get you acquainted with the various slopes. Using the balance board I did feel some of the workout on my thigh muscles, but there’s no comparison to the aerobic games on the WiiFit itself. It is, however, a nice addition and extra fun thing to do with the WiiFit balance board. After 2 hours of goofing off just on that, I still have a ton of things to try and a ton of things to unlock.

In other news…(grin!) I was able to dodge a lot more of those pesky soccer spiked shoes and enormous bear heads in the soccer ball challenge, so that was a good thing. I didn’t feel quite as klutzy as normal! (grin!) And I’m missing a lot less steps in the step aerobics, so I’m getting lots of compliments from my trainer – that eased the pain of getting ragged on for not being on the WiiFit for a week! (snicker!) I did, however, continue to avoid Yoga, but I suppose I should face up to it and see how many of those poses I can really knock out…in spite of the sloped floors. (grin!) Oh, and I’m getting a lot more coordinated on the boxing, too – my hand-foot coordination is shaping up nicely, so my scores are improving greatly! πŸ˜‰

If you have a WiiFit and want to join in the fun, please do! You won’t be sorry…it’s great to have such a fun support group at the WiiFit Mommies Forum. Don’t forget – February 13th (yes, Friday the Thirteenth) the WiiFit Mommies are having their Twitter Bling Party – the last one was crazy fun, so don’t forget to mark your calendars and join in on the next one!

Until next week – have fun on your WiiFit workouts and don’t forget to sign Mr. Linky with your weekly WiiFit adventure posts! πŸ™‚

  1. Look at you! Losing weight, helping pimp the mommies-I LOVE YOU! You have been so dedicated and wonderful to all of us, we’re blessed to have you in our lives! I can’t wait until the day I get to wrap my arms around you!

  2. Arrrggggg! You are ahead of me by ONE swing of the hips!! LOL I’m STUCK at 1992. I do, however, feel less like DYING after I’m done…which is a good thing πŸ™‚

Good to hear about the WiiSkii… was wondering about that. It does work out your arms though? I’m in desperate need of some flab removal on my turkey waddle arms.

Good job on getting three SOLID days in this week! WOOT!

    See you tonight! YEAAAHHHH!

  3. Good for you…keep up the great work/playing!

My sister and I have been competing with the hoola hoop too…She of course beat me, being the gymnast…but now neither of us have gotten back up into the 3400 for 10 minutes again…although we both agreed that it seemed like if we slowed down a bit we used more stomach muscles vs legs.

  4. Hold up…the balance board works with Wii Ski?! We rented the game almost a YEAR ago when we got the board, so it didn’t have instructions…

Good job on the weight loss!!

  5. I was bad and didn’t do my wii fit all week, need to get w/ it! I did do 20mins of a pilates dvd today and had the joy of having Will jump on me during it!

  6. I’m pretty sure I past 2000 on the hula hoop, but I’ll have to check! You are doing amazing! I’ve just gotten back on my board after I hurt my foot, so I’m gonna rock out next week!

  7. @Julie@Cool Mom Guide: LOL Julie! You always make my day with your comments! I sure look forward to the day we can meet in person – I’m always up for big hugs! πŸ˜‰

@Jenn LOL Jenn! Watch, last week you were ahead of me by ONE swing of the hips – next week you’ll top me by one…and so on…heh, heh! Maybe we’ll end up tying at 2000 on the same week! πŸ˜‰

Yes, the WiiSki does work out your arms – especially if you’re like me and you’re flailing about…LOL!! That and you have to do funky motions for ski jumps and to side step UP the mountain (like one of the challenges I’m still trying to complete about skiing down the mountain and stopping to unbury some unfortunate skiers that got buried in the snow – I missed a couple and had to side-step back up to where they were. I’m feeling it in my upper arms today since I did the WiiSki last night. πŸ˜‰

See you tonight! I’m excited for the party! πŸ™‚

@Colleen: Thanks, Colleen! Aaaaahhhhh! 3400?!!! Seriously? Oh man it’s work for me to try to get to 2000! I’m humbled in your presence… πŸ˜‰ Of course I’ve never been a gymnast – in my head, maybe, but not in reality…(grin!!!) Great tip on slowing down to use more stomach muscles – I’m going to focus on that next week (as I try to hit that 2000 mark before Jenn does…*snicker!*)

@annie kelleher: LOL Annie! You crack me up! Sorry I hurt your head… πŸ˜‰

    @Firefly: Thanks, Firefly! πŸ™‚

@attygnorris: Thanks, Davida! What’s really cool is it is so much FUN!! πŸ™‚

@Yaya: Thanks, Alicia – you’re right…Julie mentioned to another blogger about using the word ‘only’ – instead, let me just say I ROCKED the WiiFit 3 days this week! πŸ˜‰

@Aunt LoLo: YES, the balance board does work with the WiiSki – I had the balance board all set up and waiting when I put the game in, but never once did it say anything about the balance board as an option – I thought maybe it would say something when I did the Ski School – but it didn’t…so then I looked at the instructions – you have to turn on the balance board before you hit the A button – you know, on the screen where it’s reminding you to make sure you have the wrist strap secured. THEN it shows the balance board as an option, and does the calibration. Without the instructions, there’s no way to know when to turn it on and actually use it. Definitely is way more fun to play with the balance board instead of just using the controllers – and I can feel it in my thighs, so that’s a good thing! πŸ˜‰

@Kristen Andrews: I had one of those weeks last week – no WiiFit that week – but no pilates, either, so you did SOMETHING this week! πŸ˜‰ And I think it counts as extra credit for your workout when you have Will jump on you in the middle of it…(grin!!)

@Sarah: You too?! I’m just going to have to work that much harder… πŸ™‚ I’m so glad your foot is feeling better – I broke mine a couple of years ago trying not to fall down the stairs…it sure takes awhile to get back up and running again! Or even walking normally…heh, heh! You’re gonna ROCK next week for sure! πŸ™‚

  8. Two pounds?!! I’m jealous! Good job on working out this week. I wish I could say the same thing about myself. Ugh!

  9. I am not a joiner, but I do enjoy the Wii Fit. I recommend Outdoor Challenge. I am hoping to get the Jillian Michaels Wii Fit game for Valentine’s Day so if that happens I will have another addition to my nonexistent workout.

  10. Good for you!!!! We just got the WiiFit program a few weeks ago and I really love it (I won’t even bother telling you what my hula hoop score is because you’ll laugh outloud…really, it’s that bad compared to yours!). My only challenge is that my kids want to play too so I don’t get a very long workout.

Do you have the Wii Fitness Coach? I just got that last week
and it’s a GREAT workout! You don’t need the balance board…it’s pretty much like an interactive exercise DVD.

  11. OMGosh, I apparently am just missing out on so many cool games! Outdoor Challenge looks awesome…I can’t wait to try it out. And then I saw We Cheer. I swear I am dying to try that and channel my inner cheerleader. πŸ™‚

You’re doing great! And apparently I’m going to have to face my fears and give the 6 min hula hooping a go. I’m totally addicted to the boxing still and always use it instead of most of the other aerobics games πŸ™‚

  12. It’s interesting to read about all the things you can do with a WiiFit, that machine I don’t have. You sure sound like you get your money’s worth out of it!

  13. @Just A Mom (Call me JAM for short): Awwww, JAM! πŸ™‚ I had one of those non-workout weeks last week – we all have ’em! πŸ™‚ Next week is a new week! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Anne: LOL Anne! It’s good to fly solo sometimes! πŸ˜‰ Oh good, you like Outdoor Challenge? I’m seriously thinking about getting it, because it really does look like so much fun! Hope you get the Jillian Michaels game for Valentine’s Day! πŸ˜‰ Love the last sentence of your comment…adding it to your ‘nonexistent workout’…LOL!

@Bee and Rose: Awww, I’m so glad I can help with the motivation – once you use it, you are going to LOVE it! πŸ™‚

@Helene: LOL Helene! Don’t worry – I never laugh at people’s scores because I’ve been there…believe me I’ve been there! And I’m there with some of the other games…heh, heh! I hear ya on the kids wanting to play – which interrupts your ‘workout’ time…I have those issues with the Princess Nagger when she doesn’t have school… πŸ™‚

I don’t have the Wii Fitness Coach yet, but it’s something I’ve been seriously thinking about as well – anything to enhance my workout and keep it ‘fresh’… πŸ˜‰ I’m going to have to add that one to my list, too! Thanks for the input! πŸ™‚

@Tiffany @ NOH: We Cheer? I haven’t seen that one yet…that could be pretty hilarious! πŸ˜‰ I want to get Dance Dance Revolution – sounds like it would be fun (and hilarious) too! πŸ™‚ Oh, definitely give the 6 min Hula Hoops a try – you will feel the burn…and it’s FUN! πŸ˜‰ I admire the fact that you’re addicted to the boxing – I do more of the other aerobics and only do that some of the time…but I do enjoy it a lot more now that my coordination between my hands and feet is getting better! LOL!

@blueviolet Oh, you definiitely get your money’s worth with the WiiFit…because I’m seeing such great results and having fun, I am way more motivated to actually use it than my old gym membership I used to have once upon a time… πŸ˜‰ Plus Nintendo has come out with (and are coming out with more) really cool games that you can incorporate with it to keep it fresh and keep us off the couch when playing video games… πŸ˜‰
