The buzz going on at the hairdresser’s place yesterday was all about the ‘Big Blizzard’ that was apparently heading our way. My response, of course, was “I’ll believe it when I see it.” The last few times we’ve had some sort of ‘big storm’ heading our way, we’ve been warned to plan accordingly, we’d be getting some serious snow, yada yada yada…and yet, nothing. Nada. Zilch. Except rain. Lots of rain. Or nothing at all. Like today. We were told that a ‘big system’ was coming in, the appropriate “Winter Weather Advisory” “Winter Weather Watch” were all posted throughout our local news casts, throwing the usual paranoid people into panic mode flooding the local grocery stores to stock up on bread, batteries and milk. And any junk food the junk foodaholics deemed necessary to ‘survive’.

With all this mega snow talk bantering about, the Nagging Princess was all gungho about maybe finally having enough snow to build herself a snowman. And a snow fort. And throw some wicked snowballs at Dada. Sorry, but once again we have been forewarned of nothing at all. Not a flake. Not a drop. Just overcast skies and cold air. Sure, we might get something later…maybe. But not what we were promised. No, we’re looking at possible snow flurries (read: a few pretty flakes falling to get your hopes up, only to be dashed as they disappear just as mysteriously as they appear). Of course the temperature is supposed to rise right at the perfect moment for snow – to change it to possible freezing rain or sleet. Maybe. Perhaps.

Yes, I realize there are people out there that have gotten more than their fair share of snow and are tired of it already. I would probably be tired of it already if we actually got any snow…but the last few winters have been major disappointment for all the talk of ‘It’s gonna be a rough winter this year!’ from all the ‘locals’. I’m still waiting. Hasn’t happened yet. This is a state that should be getting more snow than Seattle, only the roles have been reversed the past couple of years – they’re getting tons of snow while we get tons of rain. Yes, I know I should be careful what I wish for, but it really would be nice to get one nice big snow before our Little Princess gets too old to be ‘enchanted’ by it…sure, she’s only 6 and has plenty of time before she becomes disenchanted with snow, but it would be nice to get some fun pictures of her playing in the snow – the pictures would be much cuter while she’s still little than if she were all grown up! πŸ˜‰

I’m not looking forward to her looking outside to see only bare ground and no snow swirling around. We were talking about making snow treats like I did when I was a kid – fill a bowl with snow then pour maple syrup on it…yum! She was all excited about that prospect last night as she was tucked into bed:

Savannah: “I’m so excited about making snow treats tomorrow!”

Me: “Me too – it’s been a long time since I’ve done that.”

Savannah: “We need to make sure we bring all the syrup we have outside with us – chocolate for Dada, Maple Syrup for me and you, and Caramel syrup, too!”

Me: “Well, we won’t really need to bring the syrups outside, we’ll go scoop up some snow in a bowl and bring it back inside to doctor it up and eat it…but remember, no yellow snow allowed!”

Savannah (giggling): “Ok, no yellow snow! And we need to make sure we have three bowls – one for you, one for Dada, and one for me!”

Me: “That’ll work!”

Savannah: “It would be most unusual to make chocolate popsicles.”

Me (laughing): “‘Most Unusual’, huh? Wait-a-minute – Chocolate popsicles?”

Savannah: “Yes, we can use the popsicle containers you have and put YooHoo in them…then we’d have chocolate popsicles!”

Me: “Ummmm…not sure if that would taste very good, but you’re welcome to try that tomorrow if you want…I think I’d prefer my popsicles made from juice.”

Savannah: “OK, you can make a juice popsicle, and I’ll make a chocolate one for Dada, since he loves chocolate!”

Me (snickering): “Sure, you can make a chocolate one for Dada, I’m sure he’d love it!”

Sorry, honey…better you than me! (evil grin!)

Note: Today I’m going to try to play ‘catch up’…catch up on my EntreCard drops, catch up on my commenting, and catch up on the meme’s I’ve been honored with… So stay tuned, I’ll be posting the meme’s from Jim over at Irregularly Periodic Ruminations who sent me some thought-provoking questions to answer (even though I thought I was ‘safe’ when he offered to include the first two commentors who posted ‘do me’ in his comments of his meme participation, and I was way down on the list…) πŸ˜‰ I also have another thought-provoking question meme from Davida at Glue 4 Families that I’ve been mulling about in my brain all week…and a few other sort of ‘tag’ type meme’s that I’ve gotten over the last few days…I’ll try to include them all later, but first I need more coffee! πŸ™‚

I didn’t know what YooHoo was, either – until I saw it at BJ’s and noticed it’s 99% sugar and caffeine free – which is great so the Little Princess doesn’t get hopped up on sugar and caffeine drinking it! (grin!!)s I’ll be curious to see if she decides she likes it as a popsicle! LOL!

  5. Oh, I would love to be blanketed…in snow! πŸ˜‰ s Like you, though, I love snow, but I don’t like driving in it – I drive well in snow, it’s the other idiots I don’t trust! πŸ˜‰
