Week 5! Really? I kept thinking this was Week 4, but last week’s bummer week was actually Week 4… So this week still wasn’t a 100% WiiFit week, but it was certainly better than last week! Monday I went a little overboard and played on the WiiFit for…ahem…2 hours! I sort of lost track, and my competitive nature came out because I’m still trying to hit that 2000 score on Hula Hoops – my left side is my ‘weaker’ side, so it keeps bringing me down score-wise, prohibiting me from getting to that 2000 mark! I’ll get there…I’m determined to! πŸ˜‰

The other one I’ve been having issues with is the Rhythm boxing – I’m still trying to get my hands and feet to coordinate like they’re supposed to, but I’m definitely getting better. At least I figured out that I actually do have to move my feet (you know, follow the instructions and watch closely). The very first time (a couple of months ago) that I tried the Rhythm Boxing I just kept swinging at the bag – thinking it was similar to the one on Wii Sports. Once I figured out why the trainer was mocking me, I finally started doing much better. Well, that and the Princess Nagger was laughing at me telling me “You have to move your feet, Mama!” Nothing like having to have your 5 year old (at the time) tell you how to do the boxing… (giggle!) πŸ™‚

Besides the Step being one of my favorites (because it’s so fun) is trying to get the Ski Slalom and Snowboard Slalom down – I keep missing one to three flags on the way down, and can’t seem to get them all…but it’ll happen! πŸ˜‰ Every once in a while I still fail at the Ski Jump – for some reason I either do really well and jump really far, or flounder and barely jump at all…I’m thinkin’ it’s my sloped floors working against me…(snicker!) I’m still only at 2-stars on the Penguin Slide – I keep wanting to shift the opposite way that I’m supposed to, so I keep sending my Penguin into the cold, freezing water… We’re not even going to talk about Yoga this week, because I still suck at it…new Yoga pants or not! (grin!) Though my persistence on the Penguin Slide today unlocked yet another Yoga pose…yay. πŸ˜‰

But the most important thing is I’m having so much fun, and losing weight – this week saw me bid adieu to 1.5 more pounds! πŸ™‚ I didn’t do 5 days worth of WiiFit this week because life got in the way, so I’m glad I spent the extra time on Monday since Tuesday and Wednesday were a no-go with the Modified Kindergarten for the Princess Nagger on Tuesday, and no school on Wednesday from the ice. Thursday I was able to spend almost 1-1/2 hours on it, and today I was cut short at about 45 minutes because Hovering Hubby came home from work early… πŸ™‚

I had a great week in spite of running on fumes all week from lack of sleep, and I’m sure clearing the sidewalks from ice encased snow helped out a bit, too, on those days I wasn’t able to play with the WiiFit. πŸ™‚

If you have a WiiFit and want to join in the fun, please do! You won’t be sorry…it’s great to have such a fun support group at the WiiFit Mommies Forum. Don’t forget – February 13th (yes, Friday the Thirteenth) the WiiFit Mommies are having another Twitter Party – the last one was crazy fun, so don’t forget to mark your calendars and join in on the next one!

Until next week – have fun on your WiiFit workouts and don’t forget to sign Mr. Linky with your weekly WiiFit adventure posts! πŸ™‚

  1. I’ll never master the snowboard. Standing sideways freaks me out. I love the boxing. It’s all about the beat. To remember which foot to lead off with, stick that hand up in the air while it shows you what moves to make. Right hand up, you step off with right foot first. πŸ™‚

Congrats on the Tide win, it was shipped this morning, you should get it tomorrow!

  2. Congrats on the loss! I am always hitting the flags on teh skiing also! The penguin slide is pretty fun!

  3. That snowboard is my nemesis! My excuse is that I’m lefthanded, so if I were really snowboarding, I would be standing the other way!

Great job this week! And don’t forget to input your shoveling to get minutes for working out! You do get credit for doing things other than moving in front of the tv. : )

  4. @Firefly: I’ve found that there’s no way I’m able to exercise on the weekends… There are way too many distractions and interruptions, so I have better success during the week when both Hovering Hubby and Nagging Princess are not here… πŸ˜‰

@Julie@Cool Mom Guide: I have good days and bad days on the snowboard – but I still lean in the opposite direction I’m supposed to more often than not, which is my problem with the Penguin one, too! LOL!! GREAT tip on the boxing – I’m anxious to try that out, I bet I do much better! Thanks!! πŸ™‚

Thank you so much! I’m excited that I won the Tide To Go Mini – it’s going to come in quite handy around here! πŸ˜‰

@Colleen: Thanks, Colleen! πŸ™‚ Oh good, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one hitting the flags on the skiing! πŸ˜‰ The Penguin Slide is pretty funny – sometimes I launch myself off the iceberg on purpose, just to see my Mii get dunked! (evil grin!!)

@CTgirlinKS: Oh that’s too funny! I bet if I get my hubby to try that out, he’d have the same complaint, since he’s a lefty, too! πŸ˜‰ THANKS! I keep forgetting to put in my extracurricular activities – thanks for the reminder, I have some catching up to do so my stats should improve greatly! πŸ˜‰

  5. You’re doing better on the slalom thing than I am. I am a lefty and it feels backwards to me to put the board down the way they want me to. So I wipe out very single time. I pass on that one. But you’re doing ok. Life does get in the way sometimes. This wasn’t a perfect week for me either.. the ice day kinda killed my whole week. lol

  6. Wait…. WTF!!! 2000 on the hula hoop? i thought I was going to die when I hit 350…. holy shit!

  7. I get frustrated with the slalom skiing although I have no problem downhill skiing for real. I’m glad I’ve joined the Wii Fit Mommies Fit Fridays cause now I have to make sure I use the Fit weekly.

  8. Congrats!

I still have not been able to find a Wii Fit, so I’m substituting the gym, squash, and boot camp. Kill me now.

Or better yet, send me a damn Wii Fit, Nintendo.

  9. @Kay: You know, I always forget that lefty’s have to make odd adjustments to some things – my hubby is a lefty, and he looks ‘awkward’ doing certain things (like using scissors). Life does get in the way sometimes, but we’ll plug right along! πŸ™‚ Next week is a new week! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@vsm/whirling dirvish photography: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry, I don’t mean to laugh… *snicker*… really, I don’t… πŸ˜‰ Actually, though, it won’t be long before you get right up there with me – honest! πŸ™‚ And you won’t feel like you’re going to die…well, mostly not… πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by…and for the laugh…I’m gonna be chuckling for the rest of the night, just watch! πŸ™‚

@Saph @ Walk With Me: You know, I kinda had that issue at first, too – I was trying to move like I would on a real downhill course, but realized that I needed to focus more on my central balance and lean less aggressively than I do when I downhill ski – that seemed to do the trick on that one for me… πŸ™‚ Glad you joined the WiiFit Mommies, too – it’s a fun group, they’re all very encouraging, and you’re right, the motivation is there to use the WiiFit every week. I’m sure it would still be collecting dust if the WiiFit Mommies hadn’t popped up! πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m looking forward to reading your progress! πŸ™‚

@Keely: Awww, you haven’t been able to get one yet? Check out zooLert.com – you can sign up for notifications when the WiiFit is in stock online… Right now Wal*Mart (online) has a Wii Fit w/Balance Board Starter Bundle for $128 – just the WiiFit’s themselves are selling for more than that on eBay. πŸ™‚ UGH! If I had to substitute with the gym, squash and boot camp, I’d be wanting you to kill me now, too! πŸ™‚ What’s up with Nintendo not banging down your door with a WiiFit, hmmmm? Did you make ’em mad? (evil grin!!) Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  10. @Fearless Mom: LOL! Isn’t that the truth?! Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  11. Let’s see which one of us can get to that 2000 first! The gauntlet has been thrown!! LOL

You had a good week..next week will be even better..so will mine!

I SO can’t do the snowboard…and I actually tried the advanced boxing…LMAO that was a hysterical riot. Even I was laughing at me so hard it was impossible.

  12. @Jenn: LOL! You’re ON! πŸ˜‰ We can do it…we can do it…we can do it… πŸ˜‰ We will definitely have an even better week next week! πŸ™‚ That’s the trouble I have with the advanced boxing – I start laughing and keep messing up my footwork…LOL!! But I’m determined to make that trainer proud! (grin!) Thanks so much for stopping by…we’re gonna get to 2000!!! πŸ™‚

  13. I love the rhythm boxing. I did kickboxing for quite a while before my kids were born, so it takes me back a bit I suppose. But, much of Wii Fit is like that… you’ve got to figure out what it’s looking for.

    Sounds like you’re doing great.

  14. Oh golly–I still haven’t tried Wii Fit–but I will–at least I hope I will soon πŸ™‚

You are doing so well! Keep up the hard work–Congrats on losing more weight this week!

  15. We are buying a Wii Fit set up this weekend:) My husband’s cardiologist actually recommended it! lol! Now we HAVE to buy it! It’s medically required! LOL!

  16. I suppose I should dust off my wii fit I got in MAY OF LAST YEAR and blog about how I totally OWN the ski jump.

    Cause I do,you know…

  17. Good job on the 1.5 pounds!!!

I really need to get a wii fit. If it’s as fun as you say it is, maybe it’ll help motivate me!

  18. I just got the Wii Fit for my b-day & I plan to try it this weekend. I've heard the yoga & strength training are great – I'm so excited! Sounds like you love (ahem, are addicted to) it too! LOL

  19. It pains me to read this every week because I want one so much! I’m glad you’re doing so well with it!

  20. @Tabitha Blue: It is a LOT of fun – you don’t really feel like you’re exercising, only you do realize that it’s working because your muscles tell you so afterward…LOL!! I highly recommend it! πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Donna @ Way More Homemade: The rhythm boxing has definitely grown on me – I still mess up with the foot-hand coordination, but I’m getting better! πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Nicole: I highly recommend trying it out – you’ll get addicted to it, it’s so much fun! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the kind words, Nicole – and thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Bee and Rose: Oh, I LOVE that your hubby’s cardiologist recommended it! Yes, now you HAVE to buy it…heh, heh!! You will LOVE it! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Kelley: LOL! I had to dust mine off, too, when the WiiFit Mommies started up…I had gotten mine back in August and hadn’t set foot on it from September until the end of December. Now I’m motivated to use it every week! πŸ™‚ YES definitely blog about how you OWN the ski jump – I could use some pointers! πŸ˜‰ That, and you could join up with the WiiFit Mommies and challenge people in the forums – it’s quite fun! πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Yaya: Thanks, Yaya! πŸ™‚ I HIGHLY recommend getting one – it really is as fun as it sounds…it’s quite addicting, and what’s really cool is you’re truly getting a great workout without the guilt of ‘playing a video game’… πŸ™‚ If you do end up getting one, join the WiiFit Mommies – they are a GREAT supportive group, and lots of fun! Plus they have tons of really cool ‘parties’ and giveaways that are incredible… πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Hula’s Secret Blog: The penguin one is fun – and hilarious! Your Mii is dressed up in a penguin suit, standing on an ice berg – you have to catch flying fish by leaning left and right (to tip the ice berg and slide and jump). I’m always leaning in the wrong direction, but sometimes I launch my Mii into the cold arctic waters because it’s funny to watch her slide on her belly into the water…(snicker!) Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Aunt LoLo: LOL! You are so right, Aunt LoLo! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much! And thanks a bunch for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@ParentingPink: Oh, that’s GREAT that you did get it for your birthday! WooHoo!! Happy Birthday! πŸ™‚ You will absolutely love it – and yes, the Yoga and strength training are great…and the aerobics and balance ones are awesome, too! πŸ˜‰ You are going to get just as addicted…absolutely! πŸ˜‰ I’m looking forward to hearing how much you love it! πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@blueviolet: Awwww, I hope you’ll be able to get one soon, Elizabeth! I cannot say enough great things about it…it’s so much fun, and I’m always pleasantly surprised when the pounds slip away…(grin!!) Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  21. I love my Wii Fit. I haven’t put a workout into place, but I plan to as soon as I have control of my life :). I am looking forward to it. Hopefully, I will get as good as you.

  22. @Anne: Glad to hear you love your WiiFit! πŸ™‚ So far I haven’t heard anyone say they hate their WiiFit…’cuz it’s just not ‘hateable’! LOL! You know, you don’t have to put a specific workout into place, just have fun with it…that’s pretty much what I do! πŸ™‚ I don’t have a set routine – I look at the screen and think ‘Hmmm…what do I feel like doing today?’ and pick one to start off with. I think that’s why I am really enjoying it, I’m not making myself stick to a ‘structure’, just making sure that I try to workout a minimum of 45 minutes, which usually evolves into more, just because I’m having too much fun (or being too competitive with myself and trying to better my score) to stop…(grin!) Besides, I like seeing the coins get dropped into the piggy…(grin!) Bottom line is just have fun with it, and you will do great! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚
