Fitness Friday – Week 2!

Wow! Has it already been a week? Seems like just yesterday I was posting about dusting off my WiiFit and working towards getting fit! πŸ˜‰ I’ve discovered something – being able to have any ‘quality’ time on the WiiFit isn’t going to happen on the weekends, with Nagging Princess and Hovering Hubby skulking about…Nagging Princess prefers to laugh as we do our ‘Fitness Tests’ on Wii Sports, so we humor her and do those, then let her kick our butts in bowling…but then kick hers in tennis! πŸ˜‰
But Monday through Friday, when Hovering Hubby is at work and Nagging Princess is at school, the WiiFit is mine, all mine!! πŸ™‚ I’m still not loving the Yoga poses – my sloped floors are working against me (still going with that excuse!). I tried to take a picture last night – in a humorous light of having a glass of red wine on the WiiFit board, but you can’t really see the wine ‘leaning’ prominently in one direction:

Well, you can see it a little better here…but not much! πŸ˜‰

Yes, my Christmas decorations are still up! I’ve been spending my extra time playing with the WiiFit this week instead of focusing on getting my living room cleared out of Christmas decor, but since I can’t use the WiiFit on the weekends, I’ll be getting it done this weekend for sure… πŸ™‚

This week I tried ‘Real Life Sarah’s‘ suggestion about using weights whilst doing the step aerobics section (gotta love seeing all your friendly Mii’s step-dancing on screen…sometimes I get distracted and miss a step…or ten…). What a great idea, Sarah! I have 3 lb weights that luckily the Nagging Princess hasn’t lost in the house somewhere (she does love to play with them for some reason!) so this week on my second round of step aerobics, I added the weights and arm movements…holy moly I was feeling the burn! I usually get so caught up in it I have to go yet another round (usually because I want to see how many steps I can do without missing any in Advanced mode), so three rounds of step aerobics, two or three rounds of Hula Hoop fun, and a few of the easy (for me) Yoga poses (just so I can say ‘Yeah, I did Yoga!’ LOL!) and of course the fun games like the balance table, the high wire, and the soccer ball dodge (man I feel like a dork every time I get hit in the head with something other than a soccer ball!) I get so caught up in all the fun that before I know it, I’ve been playing with the WiiFit for well over an hour!

While I’m not at a personal comfort-level to vlog my experiences yet (give me some time, once I lose some 6-year old baby fat, I’ll build enough confidence to put it on video…heh, heh!) but the results this week surprised me – I lost 4 pounds! Now, now, before you start ragging on me about it being ‘unhealthy’ to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week, you’ll need to understand that I realize it’s water weight that’s being shed…I’m not a big water drinker, but I made a conscious effort to drink lots of water this week (to the point that I felt like I was going to float away! LOL!) I substituted water for (some) of my Vanilla Coke. I did drink some Vanilla Coke too, but drank water first so I wouldn’t suck it down so fast…(grin!) So I know that when you start increasing your water intake, you shed more water weight because your body doesn’t have to be stingy and keep the excess water hostage, since you’re readily supplying it…yada, yada, yada! πŸ™‚

So, I imagine if I keep on track this next week, I will probably level off to losing the desired 1-2 pounds a week…then y’all can relax and agree that I’m not going overboard. πŸ˜‰ I’m looking forward to reading all the WiiFit Mommies Week 2 Fitness Friday posts! πŸ™‚

  4. Good for you!s I’ve been tackling the elliptical–but unlike you, I haven’t lost a pound πŸ™‚ s Could be my eating habits–I’ll try more water–that might help *sheepish grin*

The Christmas decorations are all my hubby’s responsibilities. He’s the one obsessed with Christmas. I could care less about putting up decorations every year-in fact my OCD goes a bit crazy during the month that they’re out!

  6. Hey!s You’re doing great!s Using weights with it is a good idea!s I am going to try that!

  7. Congrats on your weight loss. I am curious as to the Wii Fit age of the wine? Does it need to shed spome pounds too? If so I am more then willing to help! sha ha
BTW – Glad we are such OCD freaks together.

  8. Thanks, Jennie!s Good luck with your program, I’ll be looking forward to your updates! πŸ™‚ s Thanks so much for stopping by!

  9. LOL!s Thanks, Julie! I’m glad you got my my subtlety of the wine glass with the Wii – making it more of a ‘date’ with the Wii instead of a chore! πŸ˜‰ s Now to come up with something creative for next week…LOL!!

  10. Thanks, Nicole!!s I thought about getting an elliptical, but in our old house the rooms are fairly small (they were smaller people in the 1800’s I’m thinking! LOL!) so I’d have to have it in my living room…while a great conversation piece for any guests who happen to come over, and since it wouldn’t be in the bedroom acting as an extra clothing hanging area, I still resisted getting one.s So I’m really glad that the WiiFit is not only fun, but compact enough to stash out of sight when necessary! (grin!!)
Oh, yeah, water is your friend!s Or at least that’s what I’m trying to convince myself as I force myself to choke down more of it daily…(evil grin!!)s But it does flush out the bad stuff, so it takes some weight along with it! πŸ˜‰
Thanks so much for stopping by, I always enjoy your commentary! πŸ˜‰

  11. Oh Yaya! That’s too funny! My hubby lets me have my obsession of decorating for Christmas – especially since a majority of my decor is deer-related…but on the flip side, it would really be nice to be able to not have to do all that work and let someone else do it…but if I left it up to my hubby, we’d never have any decorations up! LOL!!s But my OCD is really starting to rear its ugly head with my neglect to get it taken care of sooner than now – so now I’m starting to form a resentment for the deer that are staring vacantly at me in my living room… πŸ˜‰
Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ˜€

  12. Try it, you’ll like it! πŸ˜‰ s Well, you might like it, but your muscles are going to be screaming at you…but then again, it’ll let you know it’s working!s LOL!!s Thanks so much for stopping by!

  13. ROTFLMAO!!!s Kat, you do pose a great question…maybe I’ll have to set up a Mii for my glass of wine – and see what that trainer has to say about it! LOL!!!s Thanks for the laugh!!
Yeah, it’s nice to know there are other OCD freaks out there…especially nice ones like you, my Long Lost Sister! (snicker!)

  14. I have such a hard time letting my seven yr old son beat me at games!s If he happens to win on his own, I feel super competitive!! lol! (I DO let him win sometimes, but I don’t really like it!☺ ☺)

  15. Let me just say first… my Christmas decorations are up too!s Yeah, I’m letting myself think it’s because it’s so prrretty and not because I”m lazy that it’s still up, lol.
Um, yeah and I’m definitely getting a level and checking out the slopes in my floor.s I’d love to have that excuse!s lol
I didn’t do weights with the step aerobics (don’t have any yet) but I did add arm motions and just that helped so much!s Obviously I have very weak arms.s πŸ˜‰
Fun post!s πŸ™‚ s Loved the pictures, too.s We appreciate the visual evidence of your sloping floors.s LOL

  16. Hope you don’t mind me popping in here…
Ha, same for me on the decorations! My husband doesn’t care one bit bout it and if it were up to him there’d be no evidence of Christmas around.s *grumble*s But I make up for it.s πŸ™‚ s
Oh, no deer to stare at me… but it IS starting to look out of place as time goes on.s Tonight I joked with my hubby when I saw him looking at it, “Only 11 more months till Christmas, aren’t you excited?”s
Only a raise of the eyebrow back… men.

  17. You gave me motivation to get goin’ on mine! (I received the Wii fit for Christmas but haven’t tried it yet.)s It’s been fun reading your blog, and thank you for the nice comment on mine!s Excellent points!!!!!

  18. Hi Stacy! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Thanks for the “Congrats”!s I’ll be back on Monday (hopefully) to talk about how the first day went. That’s always a weird day at a new job!

  19. LOL Lindsey! You’re welcome to ‘jump in’ anytime! πŸ˜‰ s Ooooh, I might have to try that comment to my hubby…only 11 months until Christmas! LOL!!s Bet I’ll just get the eyebrow raise, too…s Yup, MEN! πŸ˜‰

  20. Lana, you are not alone!s When my Little Princess beats me at bowling (which she does…often!) I always have to talk her into playing another game, to see if I can finally win…sometimes I do, but it’s mostly because she’s not really interested in playing by then, so she’s not giving it her full attention…LOL!s What cracks me up is she’s doing funky dances, swinging her arms wildly and getting strike after strike…I focus and aim and still throw with a curve to the left…the funky dances and wildly swinging arms don’t improve my bowling technique either! πŸ˜‰ s Thanks so much for stopping by!

  21. WooHoo! It’s always nice to know I’m not the only slowpoke to take down my Christmas decorations! O:-) s I also like the idea that it’s ‘so prrrretty’ and not because I’m lazy and putting it off…good one! πŸ™‚
Yeah, do check out the slope of your floors…heh, heh!
I’ve never been one to have very good upper body strength…so I’m hoping that’ll improve by using the measly little 3-pound weights (that feel like half a ton when I’m in the middle of using them during the step aerobics! LOL!!!)
Glad you enjoyed the pictures – and the ‘proof’ that my floors truly are sloped! (giggle!)s Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ˜€

  22. Thank you very much, Lydia!s I’ll be looking forward to reading about your progress when you come join us! πŸ˜‰ s Thanks a bunch for stopping by! πŸ˜€

  23. Cool, Andrea!s You’ll really get addicted to the WiiFit when you get started on it – it really is as fun as it looks!s What I love most about it is it takes your mind off the whole ‘working out’ mindset – you don’t feel like it’s ‘work’, because it’s fun! πŸ˜‰
Thank you so much for stopping by!! πŸ˜€

  24. Hi Cassie!s You’re very welcome – it sounds like it’ll be a fun and exciting thing for you to do…and yes, the first day at a new job is always weird…sometimes the first 6 months feel ‘weird’ until you get totally engrossed in it! LOL!!s I’m looking forward to reading all about it! πŸ˜‰
Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ˜€

  25. Great job!s Wow, 4 pounds, that’s wonderful.s I’m so glad you liked using the weights.s I started doing free step while watching TV this week, and I love it.s
