Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
“In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.”
She then asks that you post a question on your blog for others to answer.
Go to An Island Life and answer her question and check out the other questions too! Let me know if you post a question on your blog and I’ll be happy to stop by and answer yours!
I’ve been a slacker, I keep forgetting about this fun event, so it’s been awhile since I’ve participated! 🙂
My question for this week is:
Are you or your spouse/significant other a ‘Sports Nut’?
I am more of a Sports Nut than my hubby is – I have my favorite Hockey teams I like to watch, as well as my favorite Football teams… I consider myself lucky, though, because my sister’s husband is a huge Sports Nut – besides football, his ‘sport of choice’ is…Golf! 🙂 She enjoys football, so they watch together, but golf – not so much. During the golf tournaments, she ends up being a ‘Golf Widow’, poor thing! 😉 So while I don’t turn my hubby into a Hockey or Football widower since I don’t inundate the television watching my favorite teams, he at least indulges me and watches some of the ‘important’ games with me – like the Superbowl. 😉
Happy Aloha Friday!
If you’re looking for my Fitness Friday post for this week…it’s coming…I’m still working on its greatness…(snicker!)
my hubby is a baseball fan – loves the yankees, and ive become one simply in self-defense. i follow the yankees fairly closely during baseball season but i have no interest in any thing rougher. i’m thinking of taking up fencing again and i used to run … when it comes to physical activity im not much of a team player, or a team watcher! 🙂 i’ll post a question too but im having problems with my puter so i may not be able to!!!
Geez Stacy-
Your commenting/blogging should count towards that Friday Fitness.
🙂
We are both Red Wings and U of M fans…….hockey and football!!!
I never followed sports until I moved here to Wisconsin. When the Green Bay Packers play it’s crazy in this town. Flags flying from people’s cars and yards. Tailgating parties. Potlucks at the bars (and by the way – a minor is welcomed in the bar as long as accompanied by an adult!).
So I started following the season of the Green Bay Packers. Mostly because I was impressed by their loyal fans. People in Wisconin love their team wether they are winning or losing. I couldn’t say that about the followers of my former team, Seahawks from Seattle.
Another thing that impressed me was the team is owned by the city of Green Bay. Unlike the Seahawks who are the property of two rich guys.
I knew I had crossed over when I attended an actual game (first time ever) when the Green Bay Packers were playing against the Seahawks and I found myself cheering for the Packers.
“Toto – I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore….”
Oh… that pic just always makes me ready for summer… or vacation!!
Neither of us are actually sports nuts, although my husband like to follow playoffs for sure (especially football). I’m sure he’d watch it more if he could. I watch it with him sometimes, but not always. That about how much we get into it. If I were in town we’d have a superbowl party, just because I like parties. Since I’m not, he’s just going to one!
Hmm we’re sports nuts about certain sports… mainly college football and a few pro teams. I love to watch golf (mainly because I played in college) and he loves to watch that MMA fighting crap… Oh and we’re both huge bullriding fans…
we both are I am a NCAA football nut and my husband is baseball and basketball!!
We are not huge sports nuts except for Hockey. We love the San Jose Sharks. Who is your favorite team?
Please check out my Aloha Friday question at:

Not huuuge fanatics but we all like @ some 2 sports although not in a have-to-watch-go-away type of thing.
We don’t really follow any sport LOL we would just rather do something else ;)which is so fine with me 🙂
Not so much but he does like watching when it’s Chicago-anything…. i.e. Cubs, Bears, etc. 🙂
Nope, not even a little bit!
YES! He’ll watch any sport thats on TV, he’ll watch the sports news on all channels even though they all show the same highlights…fantasy football fanatic…I could go on and on =)
Sports Nuts? Nah. We watch sports and play them every now and then. But, we do go in and out of being Fitness Freaks. We’re both on that kick right now… working out hard and eating healthy. We’ll probably fall off when we go out of town or during the next big event or holiday. Then, we’ll give ourselves a swift kick and get back on our plan.
Davida
@annie kelleher: That’s how I got into watching Hockey – because I was with someone who was an avid fan…and it stuck! But I guess I should amend the notation of being a ‘Sports Nut’, because I only watch it every so often, not every game that’s on…so I’m not nutty about it…LOL!! Hope your computer issues are resolved soon! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
@I am Harriet: That’s funny, Harriet! It has been quite the workout for my fingers and brain this week…LOL!!! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
@Proud Mommy: Red Wings is the team I follow – when I lived in Michigan, that’s where I got ‘hooked’ on Hockey. Still a Seahawks fan from growing up in Seattle, though, when it comes to football… 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! Go Red Wings! 😉
@Lady Bug: That’s funny that it took a move to Wisconsin to start following sports…my brother and I would rotate Superbowl parties every year when I lived in Seattle…I haven’t done that since living in PA because all my fellow football friends are still in Seattle…and Nevada…and Wisconsin… 😉 I have heard that the Green Bay Packers fans are loyal to a fault – gotta give ’em props for being so dedicated! 😉 I think it does make a difference in ‘attitude’ when a team is owned by it’s home city/town/state rather than ‘two rich guys’ – when you’re cheering for your team, you’re cheering for your city/town/state. It’s more meaningful… 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@Tabitha Blue: LOL! Yes, me too! Exotic beach and warm sand… >sigh!< (smile!) You and your hubby sound like you approach the whole sports thing like my hubby and I do. It seems to work very well! 😉 Like you, if we were 'in town', we'd probably go to a Superbowl party, but we're going to have our own little mini party here…but probably not watch the whole game from start to finish, just the 'good' parts…LOL! Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@vsm/whirling dirvish photography: OH! I forgot about bull riding – I love catching the rodeo every so often…I had the pleasure of going to to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas one year as a special treat for my birthday. It was so cool watching it live. My hubby is afraid of horses, but the Princess Nagger and I are hoping we’ll get him to overcome his fear so we can eventually get some horses. I know, I’ve sort of gotten off the tangent of bulls, but that’s how my brain goes…(grin!) I’m amazed at the bull riders – 8 seconds seems so short, but I bet when the cowboys are up on that bull’s back, it feels like a lifetime! Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@Lori @ The Downs Gang: Sounds like you guys are well balanced! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@JenReg: My favorite team is the Red Wings…though I have enjoyed watching the San Jose Sharks in the past, too… 😉 I’ll be off to check out your Aloha Friday post shortly! Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@sues2u2: Sounds like us – we don’t watch regularly… 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂 said…
@Firefly: That works – it’s much better than one person being a sports nut and the other not…at least you two are on the same page! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@Jackie: A Specialize Sports Nut… I like it! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@blueviolet: LOL Elizabeth! I love how adamantly you state that! Good for you! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@Sage and Savvy: Oh, so you’re the epitome of the Sports Widow, aren’t you? Poor thing! 🙂 But then again, it’s a ‘free pass’ to get to do something you like, too… 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@attygnorris: Sounds just right, Davida! 🙂 I hear you on going in and out on being Fitness Freaks – there will always be something that will derail you, but it sounds like you know how to give yourselves a swift kick to get back on your plan…LOL!! Love it! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
I wouldn’t say we’re nuts for any kind of sport here…although we do get really wrapped up in any BIG games that our home teams are playing in.
We are couch potatoes. The only sports we watch are the kids ‘playing’ soccer.
My sons played different sports in high school but they have no interest now.
@Jenni Jiggety: Sounds very reasonable to me, Jenni! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by@ 🙂
@pam: LOL! I love that you’re honest enough to profess to being a couch potato! 😉 Bet the kids love having you watch them play soccer! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@janetfaye: I can see that – when you’ve been directly involved in playing, sometimes it’s not as fun just to be a spectator. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
Both my husband and I love sports. Football and baseball. Vikings, Twins, Red Sox and FL Gators!
Ha, no. Hubby follows the NBA still and I find golf on tv is really good to nap to. That’s about it.
@Sarah: The way I look at it, it’s better if both are equally Sports Nutty…then there are poor widows or widowers during any of the major sporting events… 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@Keely: LOL! Yep, I can see golf on tv would be really good at nap-inducing…(snicker!) Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
Oh, my husband is such a sports nut–so he pulls me along. Now that we’re living in Phoenix, we get to see all kinds of sports games–we’ve been to baseball, basketball, and football games–hurrah! My hubbs is in heaven… Me… not so much–I mean it’s fun, but I’d rather be shopping!
I’m so impressed that you can follow football! My first response to your question is, “No. Not until musical theater is legally declared a sport.” Actually, that is the only answer I have-lol! We’re an artistic family, much more likely to draw a football than watch one. Oh wait! Do the olympics count?! ‘Cause I do love me some olympics…
@Nicole: I admire you, Nicole – that you get ‘pulled along’…heh, heh! You are a saint that you support your hubby’s sports nuttiness when you’d rather be shopping…you ROCK! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
@Shangrila: LOL, Shangrila! Nothing to be impressed by, just keep tabs on my few favorite teams, but not in a deep, meaningful way…(grin!!) Your musical theater comment cracked me up!! And the fact that your family would ‘draw’ a football rather than ‘watch’ it…priceless! 🙂 Oh, yes, I think the Olympics would count as ‘sports nut’ mode – there are lots of people that are glued to watching them…me not so much…(grin!!) Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
Neither my husband nor I is into sports. Since you are a football fan, it will probably horrify you to know that I DVR the Superbowl and fast forward past the football to watch the commercials :).
@Anne: HAHAHAHA! No, it actually doesn’t horrify me…when there are teams I could care less about playing, I’ve done the SAME thing! LOL!!! Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
