I have to say I had a really good laugh today as I talked with my friend Christy on the phone…poor thing moved to Louisiana about 4 years ago for many reasons, one of which was to ‘get away from the cold and snow in Pennsylvania’. Well, while we’ve had bouts of warm and cold weather thus far – up to and including the 40-something temperatures that completely thwarted all the ‘warnings’ our local weather forecasters were telling us earlier this week about ‘Old Man Winter’ blowing in with cold temperatures and snow for last night into this morning (which never happened – at least not in the part of Pennsylvania we live…we got rain…lots and lots of rain…not a flake of snow to be found!) Christy was confident that snow would be a distant memory when she and her hubby and kids moved to Louisiana.

Well, Mother Nature had the last laugh, as they woke up yesterday to 8 inches of the beautiful white stuff! LOL! I just about fell out of my chair laughing as she relayed her morning discovery of snow. She had just gotten out of the shower when the power went off, and she took a peek out the window to see a sight she never thought she’d see…8 inches of fresh snow! Of course Louisiana is really not equipped to handle snow, let alone that much of it – so schools were closed as well as many business and several of the freeways. Her two boys (9 and 6) had a blast with the unusual ‘snow day’ having snowball fights and building a snowman. Christy said that every house that had kids in it had a snowman or two in their front yard – a sight to behold!

It doesn’t look like they’re sending their snow our way anytime soon – while it’s supposed to be cold the next few days, Mr. Sunshine will be bright and warm things up a bit – just in time to keep the air warm enough for more rain sometime next week. I would love to get paid as much as our local weather people do to be wrong all the time! 😉
