…well, sort of, anyway! I finally did start to haul my 20+ boxes from the shed to the house – but I procrastinated too long and Mother Nature decided to give us some snow. At the very moment I started moving boxes. Right on my head. 28 degrees and snow. Yay. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been hoping for some snow this year, we’ve been robbed the last couple of years – not enough snow to make a snowman or snow forts, and barely enough to make a snow angel or have a decent snowball fight…my daughter has been disappointed in the lack of snow, she’s really anxious to build a snowman. And throw snowballs at Dada. 🙂

So I fastidiously kept moving box after heavy box (the light ones, too) while the wind blew and the snow fell, until my fingers and toes were getting too numb to function properly. I got my daughter to shriek and giggle when I put my oh-so-cold hands on her toasty warm neck. That was fun! Now I have about 1/3 the boxes stacked in the house from the shed – my daughter keeps nagging me about starting to put up the decorations, but she neglected to get all her toys picked up in the living room to make room for the tree and all the fun decorations, so now she has to wait until tomorrow! But it will happen. Just you wait and see.

As I was browsing all the blogs during my marathon EntreCard dropping last night, I ran across one blog that was quite intriguing about the story behind Christmas decorations. I wanted so much to link to that post, because 1) I wanted to read it again, and 2) I wanted to share it with others. But I was having trouble with my browser hanging, and Windows would close it down, always asking me if I wanted them to find a resolution to the issue…um, NO, because you haven’t found the resolution all the other times! So needless to say, I ‘lost’ that page to link to, so I’m going to have to spend some more time trying to dig deep and find it. Want to find it. Soon. It’s going to be one of those things I won’t be able to forget thinking about until I locate it again. So if anyone out there is reading this, happens to be a member of EntreCard and got a ‘drop’ from me Saturday December 5th, and had a great blog post about the Story of Christmas Decorations or read that great story, feel free to email me, leave a comment with the link, anything so I can read the post again and share it with others! Pretty Please! 🙂

  1. Cool 🙂 we are doing decorating same night 🙂 only deference while bringing our decorations from the garage I had to walk trough snow as high as to my knees LOL not fun at all…Still working on the tree here 🙂

  2. LOL, Firefly! That’s too funny…well, to me anyway…having to walk through knee-deep snow – I count my blessings that mine isn’t even ankle deep…yet! (grin!!) Mother Nature pulled a fast one on us, though – we were supposed to have sunny/partly cloudy days yesterday and today, but she decided to ‘bless’ us with snow…and cold wind today, so it’s going to be a comedy of errors when I’m trying to dress up our 4 columns on our front porch with garland and put my other fun decorations on the front porch – but I’m determined to get it done…today! I think I’ll tackle that first, then I can be cozy and warm doing the decorations in the house. Thanks for the laugh this morning! 🙂

  3. I’m curious about his post! Hope you find the site again!

I always feel the house has to be neat and clean before I put the Christmas tree up too!

It’s no fun having a lovely tree, when you nearly break your neck over your child’s toys!

  4. Sounds like an interesting post about decorations. I’d love to read it. Hope you come across it again. We finished putting our Christmas decorations out on Thursday. It’s always such a huge job, but it was worth it watching my little girl’s excitement.

  5. Relimom: I’m am hunting away as we speak…It was a great post, had some great information about the ‘story’ behind Christmas decorations. I’m determined to find it again and will definitely post a link to share! 🙂

Whew! I’m glad I’m not the only one who has to have the house clean before putting the tree up – you’re right, it’s not fun to have a lovely tree if you’re going to be breaking your neck over your child’s toys! LOL!!

  6. Michelle: It was definitely one of those posts that I wanted to ‘save’ because it was well thought out and well put together. My determination will pay off…I know it will, and I will find it again! 🙂

I’m with you – while the decorating process is a ‘chore’, it’s so worth it for the excitement value of our little girl! It’s fun to get to experience that excitement and innocence through your child’s eyes. I’ve always loved Christmastime, but now that I have a child, it’s even more special! 😉
