So the tally thus far is 7 boxes shipped, 2 boxes AWOL, 1 box unpacked/repacked/contents stolen, and 4 boxes delivered without a problem – 2 of those were shipped to totally different states, which means that the postal service in Washington State has a serious problem. Only 2 out of 5 boxes has been delivered with no problem, 1 delivered with contents stolen, the other 2 AWOL, possibly stolen by a mail carrier. Unbelievable. I spoke with my local postmaster to get his ‘take’ on it, and he was just as floored as I was. And he also agreed with many of the comments I got, “file a complaint, STAT!” So I have spoken with everyone affected and strongly urged them to file complaints…STAT! So we’ll see. I’m half tempted to go to the online Mail Theft link and file them myself. I might just do that anyway, couldn’t hurt…
On a lighter note, my Little Princess and her black eye are doing nicely – and she was extremely happy about all the people who thought her “Knees and Toes”…er, um, sorry, “Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes” input was hilarious. She’s currently choreographing her dance moves so I can videotape her version of the song to share, by popular demand. π Look for that towards the end of the week…or over the weekend. I’m stalling a tad bit so her eye has a chance to let the blood move around a bit more so that she doesn’t look like this on video:
It’s interesting how it seriously looks like someone put eyeshadow on her eyelid! Funky colors, but it’s just wild how it developed like that! She decided to get goofy-ish for the next couple of shots:
She looks kinda psycho in that last picture, but that was the ‘look’ she was going for…without laughing, of course…it was hard for her to not laugh at herself… π
So that’s the Blah, Blah, Blah and Update report for today…I’m in ‘Hurry Up and Wait’ mode, so I thought you might as well hurry and up wait right along with me. π Since tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, I suppose I should think up some kind of Resolutions or something…I’m not a fan of making resolutions, but I suppose I could think of something witty to post, so long as my brain isn’t still in freeze mode tomorrow… It’s Wordless Wednesday tomorrow, but I’m sure people won’t mind if I do the posts separately, you know, a WW post, and then a wordy post…might have to if I get any feedback from the Tyranny that is USPS…stay tuned! π
How terrible that the presents you shipped out didn’t make it to your loved ones. I saw the photos of your pretty daughters face and had to continue on reading to see what happened to her. She must be one tough cookie to handle a bump like that. Hope it continues to heal well.

That is just such a shame about those packages!! And the delivery confirmation says it was delivered?? Hmm…methinks the mailman/woman(?) may be up to something fishy, no?? hmmm… Oh…and it does look a bit like yellow eyeshadow, doesn’t it? She is so cute!

Sorry to hear about your postal woes. We had some confusion too with a package we mailed for ebay recently, luckily it finally got delivered but it was a tense couple of days. Hopefully they didn’t lose it only had trouble delivering because of the holiday mayhem.
Your daughter’s eye really looks like someone made it up with some funky shadow. She does love having her picture taken though. π

I am so sorry about your packages. I hope there was just a mix up and your family gets them soon.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Yes, she sure is one tough cookie, all right! She may look like a Little Princess, but she’s as rough and tumble as the rest of us…LOL! I’m really glad that it looks like it’s healing quite quickly – she might have some residual color left when she goes back to school next week, but at least it won’t be such a shocking appearance by then – that’s the main thing she was concerned about, not about the fact that she face-planted in the first place! She gets that from me, I’m afraid…heh, heh!
It really does suck – you put your faith in something that’s been around for eons, but forget that the people that are doing the actual delivery might not be who we think they are. And it also means that there are at least 2, maybe 3 different mail carriers that are shyster’s based on issues with 3 different rural post offices. It is possible that they were ‘substitutes’ for the route, being the the post office has been/was overwhelmed with all the extra deliveries because of the time of year. And yes, the delivery confirmation does indeed say that the box to my brother was delivered…when it wasn’t. Then the box to my aunt was unpacked, contents stolen, and one item packed into a different box with the original label carefully removed from the original box and put on a new box. I’m just sick about the whole thing!
It does look like funky yellow and purple eyeshadow, doesn’t it? LOL! I thought it quite interesting how the ‘bruise’ has been working its way down that way… π
Thanks so much for stopping by! π
Yeah, I’m hoping that at least my parents box will eventually get delivered…at least there was no delivery confirmation stating that it was delivered like there was for my brother when nothing was delivered. And my poor aunt, getting the remnants of her package, re-packed (carefully) into a different box, but the rest of the contents totally stolen. Someone had to have the time and the means to pull that one off! I do hope the Postal Inspectors can get to the bottom of it, and I’m crossing my fingers that my brother’s box simply got misplaced (though it should never have been scanned as ‘delivered’, so that does worry me), and that my parents will finally get their box’o’goodies.
Methinks I need to fire the makeup artist for my daughter, hmmm? (grin!!) It really does look like someone put some funky eyeshadow on her one eye…I’m so tempted to put some eyeshadow on the other one just for fun and see if it balances it out! LOL!! π
Thanks so much for stopping by – I sure hope you feel better!
Oh, me too! I feel the most badly for my aunt, because she got a box – but had the contents completely stolen out of it…except a jar of apple butter. The thief re-wrapped the apple butter (after unpacking/unwrapping it from the original box), and put it into a new box – carefully taking my shipping label off the original box and putting it on the new box…total mail fraud and theft. My poor aunt! Hopefully they’ll be able to find out who did it and take necessary action. It is a Federal offense to tamper with anyone’s mail, let alone steal it, so…here’s hoping they’ll figure that one out!
As for my brother’s box that shows ‘delivered’ when it wasn’t – I’m hoping it was misplaced somewhere (safe) and not delivered to someone else who won’t want to give it up…and I hope that since my parents box is still not showing ‘delivered’, that it will show up – intact – soon. Thanks so much for stopping by! π
I don’t know if I trust the USPS much anymore. I’ve had one or two things go missing in the past year.
The eye doesn’t look too bad at least.

I think ever since the Postal Service got ‘deregulated’ from the Government, it’s gone downhill…fast. Luckily UPS and FedEx have tried to be more competitive with the USPS rates, so I think any future shipments to Washington State are going to go that way instead.
Thanks so much for stopping by – yeah, the eye doesn’t look too bad, does it? π
It does look like it must have hurt, doesn't it? I've been surprised that she hasn't been milking it for sympathy…she has, however, been 'admiring' it in the mirror…go figure! π
I sure hope that missing packages show up from the hub of no return…and we catch the scoundrel who stole the contents of my aunt's package! >:o
LOL! She loves to play-act, but what’s funny is she gets all shy and stops doing her ‘performance’ when she’s being watched. If she decides she wants to do something in ‘Hollywood’ later, I’m not going to dissuade her – but it’s going to have to be something she wants to do. π Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll pass your compliment on to the Little Princess! π
I was expecting a package once from FEDEX and never received it. When I called on it, I was told it had been delivered 3 days earlier. I walked completely around my house and never found it. They said there was nothing they could do as it showed it was delivered! PITA! About a week later, my neighbor (2 houses over) came home after being away and discovered our box on his side porch. He kindly brought it over.

Oh no, a black eye! That’s so sad but she’s sure got a good attitude. I think she’s reveling a bit in the extra attention.
And the package problems…that’s just outrageous. I hope you had insurance but who knew it was so important these days. Now we do.

It seems no one is reliable anymore! FedEx for you, UPS for a friend of mine – she ordered a really expensive telescope for her hubby for Christmas, it was to be delivered in plenty of time before Christmas. She forgot about it until it was getting too uncomfortably close to
Christmas, so she went online (which is agony for her, since she’s still on dial-up!). She saw that the package had supposedly been delivered – about 3 weeks prior. So she called UPS, and they looked it up and told her it was left at her back door. They don’t have a back door. So she checked with all the neighbors, no one claimed that they received a package for her. Then she started thinking ‘back door’, and went around to the side of her house, up the steep steps to their deck (which is on the back side of their house, but there are no doors from the inside to access it), and lo and behold, there was the package, left on the back deck, up against the outside of the house – no door in sight, no coverage from the weather. Of course it had snowed a LOT over the past few weeks, so the box was completely soaked from being covered in snow and ice, then soggy from it melting.
She carefully brought it in the house and while on the phone with UPS, opened the box to check the telescope. It was ruined. There was moisture on the inside of the lens, there was no way to take it apart (without ruining it) and making it ‘right’. So she boxed it back up and told UPS to come and get it, she wanted a full refund…which they gave her, at least!
What really sucks about a black eye – particularly on a child – is when you go out shopping or something, you always feel like you’re getting ‘looks’ from people, you know, like judging you for being a ‘bad parent’ otherwise your kid wouldn’t be sporting a black eye! LOL! I’m really glad that she has a good attitude about it all, though – and glad that it seems to be healing quickly…poor thing!
Yeah, the package problems…I wish I had thought to insure them, but I’ve never had any trouble shipping to my family members out West in the past – especially when using Priority Mail, and even during the rush of the Holiday Season. Live and learn – anything I ship USPS will most certainly be insured from now on!
My local postmaster, though, was really helpful…he did say to file a complaint as soon as possible, and said that even though it wasn’t insured, there is still a possibility of recouping some of the cost of the items because of the blatant mishandling by the postal carriers/employees. No guarantees, but he did say that if complaints are filed with the Postal Inspector, they are really good at tracking down the perpetrators and making them pay…at the very least they’ll get jail time. So we’ll see – since the recipients don’t seem that worried about it, I took the liberty of filing online on their behalf…I’m hoping to light a fire under someone’s butt to get to the bottom of this whole fiasco!
Haha you should seriously put some eyeshadow on the other one π π

Seriously, I should! LOL!! I talked to a friend of mine who sells Mary Kay, and she was unable to provide me with funky yellow and purple eyeshadow…LOL!! π
Oh I hope the packages arrive safely!
That does look like makeup, and well done π she’s so cute love her expressions π
Recent blog post: Happy New Year
I sure hope the packages arrive safely, too…we’ve filed Mail Theft reports with the Postal Inspector, so we’ll see…I’m hoping that the missing boxes show up at some point – intact – and that they find out who stole the contents from my aunt’s box.
It does look like makeup, doesn’t it? LOL!! Thanks for the compliment – I love how expressive she can be… π
