I don’t know why it seems that weekends fly by faster and faster each week – and don’t you dare say it’s because I’m getting older by the week!  I’m sure it has everything to do with being excessively busy.  That’s more plausible than the age thing.  Just nod and smile…

Meanwhile, Monday is upon us – and that means music.  It’s a freebie week, so we’re going to just jump right in!  Feel free to join in on the musical action – we all have eclectic tastes and enjoy discovering new (and old) music each week.

Let’s start off with a trio I definitely admire, whose new video from their latest single from their most recent (and sophomore) album is fun to watch, because the three beautiful bandmates are sassy and slyly funny.

The tone of the song and video is light, and the band uses their contagious and spunky personalities to have a lot of fun.  With their awesome vocal harmonies and catchy melodies, it’s entertainment at its finest.

PistolAnniesHush

Here’s Pistol Annies with “Hush Hush”:

Next up is a song from an English recording artist that premiered October 2012, and didn’t take long for it to become a commercial success.  The official music video is the story of a girl that is so ditzy she keeps getting fired from her jobs, and coincidentally keeps running into the lead singer.

I was introduced to the artist (and this particular song) during the series finale episodes of 90210 last month, where he made an appearance and sang a couple of his songs, including this one.  Needless to say, I’m now a fan of this artist!

OllyMurs

Give a listen to Olly Murs with “Troublemaker”:

Next up is a song that I heard on the premier of The Bachelorette (don’t judge – it’s my guilty pleasure).  The artist transplanted himself from New York to California, where he took his acoustic guitar to the streets of Santa Monica, traversing the popular tourist spots and showcasing his catchy pop melodies and unusual beatboxing skills to anyone who would listen.

He was able to pay his rent by selling CD’s, but getting the attention of passersby wasn’t always easy, so he adapted some beatbox and vocalized trumpet skills that forced people do a double take (I sure would have done a double take).  His first music video of his first single made a mini-viral splash last year through an interactive video starring Rainn Wilson from NBC’s ‘The Office.’

AndyGrammer

Give a listen to the very talented Andy Grammer with “Crazy Beautiful”:

Last, but certainly not least is a new song from one of my all-time favorite artists.  It tells the story of moving onwards after experiencing the death of a loved one in life.  The lyrics provide hope and promise through this artist’s strong Christian faith that one will reunite with every fallen loved one in the afterlife.

The song was originally written for the film The Chronicles of Narnia – and while it wasn’t selected to be featured in the film, she still wanted to put it on her next album.  She feels that it takes a positive spin on moving on out of this life, on death – it’s not the end, because in her mind and in her faith and what she believes, there is a heaven.

The music video is poignant, it acts as a collage of major life moments: graduating from college, getting engaged, having kids, and the ultimate end in death.  In between each vignette, soldiers going off to war and coming back to surprise their family members are displayed, as is devastating footage from Moore, Oklahoma and the tragic Newtown, Connecticut shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

CarrieUnderwood

Grab a tissue and give a listen to Carrie Underwood with “See You Again”:

Have a great Monday!
