Does anyone else feel like time is flying by at breakneck speed?Β  Or is that just me?Β  Hard to fathom it’s already June!Β  Princess Nagger is done with school for the year, today is her first official full day of her Summer Break.Β

And of course she’s already gotten into the “I’m bored!”Β  mode.Β  No surprise, but my suggestion that she sort through her stuff to figure out what can be gotten rid of and what needs to be packed resulted in a “I’m notΒ  that bored!” reply.

Speaking of sorting and packing…Β  I really need to kick it into gear – if I think time is flying by way too fast already, just think how fast it’ll fly by when I’m purging, sorting and packing for our big move.Β  There have been distractions derailing my focus – the hubby took a vacation week last week, so of course that was one big week long distraction.Β

That distraction also limited my blog hopping prowess, so if I missed you in my sporadic visits last week, I apologize.

One of the distractions has been fun, though – looking at potential houses online.Β  Even Princess Nagger has been in the house hunting mode, though in her naive world, when she sees a house we both like, she exclaims “Just buy that one already!”Β  Yeah kid, it’s not quite as simple as that.Β  It will certainly be an interesting adventure, though.

Speaking of interesting adventures…Β  Princess Nagger is really excited to be moving to Washington State this summer.Β  I’m really excited to introduce her and the hubby (and Little Dude) to all the places I used to hang out all the time growing up there.Β

Plus it’s going to be awesome for the kids to spend some quality time with my parents – I have fond memories of my grandparents and am happy they’ll have a chance to build some great memories with theirs.Β  And I’m looking forward to gazing upon this skyline anytime I feel the urge:

Seattle

In other news…Β  15 year old Madison Robinson designed some really cool flip flops she calls FishFlops.Β  She likes to sketch, and came up with the idea for her sea-creature-adorned flip-flops with battery-operated lights when she was just 8, living at the beach in Galveston Island, Texas.Β

Her dad helped turn her drawings into a product and get samples made, and her first 9 samples turned into selling over 60,000 flip flops last year!Β  This genius girl is going to go far:

FishFlops

Princess Nagger thinks they’re the coolest things, but they don’t have them in bigger kid sizes – though I emailed find out about that, and apparently they’ll be offering larger sizes next year.Β  PN is very excited about that – and I think she’s inspired to continue her drawings and sketches because they could ultimately turn into something cool (like there was any doubt).

Speaking of cool…Β  The end of last week was more about ice cream parties and kick ball games – and throwing 1500 water balloons at the school principal (something he volunteers for every year as the school year comes to a close – he’s the coolest principal ever).Β

Princess Nagger was worried about the kickball game, though, because she commented that she didn’t know how to play kickball.Β  I told her it was super easy, and being that she’s very smart, she’ll figure it out by observing the kids taking turns before her.Β  To help boost her confidence, she brought along a mascot:

PNKickBallDay

Apparently her little dragon friend did the trick, since she came home exclaimed “Best day ever!”Β  Mission accomplished.Β  I’m sure it had nothing to do with helping launch 1500 water balloons at the principal.Β  Ahem.

That’s a wrap for this week – link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. Be sure to visit your fellow randomizers so they don’t feel so lonely.

    1. Princess Nagger was so happy she found her mascot again – it was buried in piles’o’stuff in her room. Thankfully she’s been working on sorting through things to get ’em ready to pack. We are having fun, aren’t we? LOL! And yes, doing things we should have done years ago – funny how that always seems to be the case, my sister has been doing the same thing in/to her house getting hers ready to sell, too! We’re crazy chicks! πŸ˜€

    1. I’ll take that view a couple times a year over not having it at all for the last 16 years. Sheesh that’s a long time! Apparently I’m way overdue for going ‘home’. πŸ˜‰ I may take you up on that offer! You’re not allergic to cats, right? ‘Cuz you’d probably have company of the furry kind on the couch. πŸ˜‰

  3. Summer lends itself to fun activities like a rousing game of kickball with your dragon. It’s all about the attitude!

Happy house hunting! I don’t envy you that task.

  4. I remember being bored and having my mom give me suggestions for things to do–they were always worse than doing nothing. I got wise and stopped telling my mom I was bored. Turbo has given us almost that exact same response when we gave him ideas to not be bored. It’s a universal kid thing I think.
Good luck with the packing. There’s a reason Nick always says we won’t move–we’ll just have a fire and start over. Packing stinks.

    1. It’s definitely a universal kid thing – my parents had the same response to us kids when we complained of being bored…we learned quickly it was wise to entertain ourselves quietly…heh! Packing does stink, but it’s a necessary evil. πŸ˜‰

    1. I am SO excited about moving back! I grew up there and have missed it greatly! πŸ™‚ Plus I’m sure my parents and siblings will be happy to have me ‘home’ again. πŸ˜‰ The principal is amazing at that school – here’s hoping both kids have awesome principals (and teachers) at their new school (which seems to be the case after talking to them out there). πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for stopping by, Kenzie! πŸ™‚

  6. My kids learned early on to avoid telling me “we’re bored!” because Mom would quickly find them something to do. And apparently they were never bored enough to do dishes, dust the furniture, vacuum the floors, fold the laundry or clean their rooms, either. πŸ˜‰

    1. LOL! Princess Nagger is fast learning not to use the “I’m bored!” card – she’s got plenty of stuff to purge so we can pack, and since she inherited my pack-rat ways (and the hubby’s messy ways) it’s a bigger challenge than 10+ years of my stuff that’s accumulated. πŸ˜‰ She’s a smart cookie, that one. πŸ˜‰

  7. I can’t even imagine the purge you have ahead of you. I know what sort of loot my crafty girl has amassed and imagine PN has an even greater stash! That skyline is a beauty!

    Good luck with the move

  10. Dam, 60,000 flip flops!!!! One day I’m going to think of something cool & I’m going to just go with it! Hubby thought of something cool once. It was a guitar pick with a rubber ring through it so he could slide it around if he wanted to use his fingers & if he wanted the chip he’d slide it around again. I keep telling him to patent it, but NOOOOOOOOO. Oh somebody thought of it already I’m sure. I swear I’m going to do it myself! grrrrrrrr So when did you say you were moving again. It looks so cool. Good luck with the move.
