Happy Labor Day!  Hopefully those of you that have a 3-day weekend are enjoying it immensely.  Our weekend has been a wash-out thus far, with wickedly wild thunder storms and knocked out power.  It’s looking like the rest of the week will be a deluge of rain, thanks to Tropical Storm Lee.  Lucky us.

On the upside, at least the hot, humid and sticky weather will finally be dissipated.  That’s literally and figuratively a relief.

When I saw that the Monday’s Music Movies me theme for this week was 70’s music, I have to confess I wasn’t very enthusiastic.  I’m not a big 70’s music fan, probably because, as my hubby says, I was too young to appreciate good music.

When I did a search for 70’s songs to see what I could come up with, I was pleasantly surprised that some of the music I fell in love with in the 80’s were actually from the 70’s.  Let’s start off with Queen’s “We Will Rock You”, because today’s all about rockin’ out:

After not thinking I’d be able to bring any good songs to the table from the 70’s, I realized that there are many songs just from Queen that I love.  I could have added a whole slew of them, but figured I’d better keep it to a minimum.  I did enjoy hanging out on YouTube and rockin’ out to Queen’s tunes through my headphones.   Another of my favorites from Queen is “Bohemian Rhapsody”:

And who doesn’t love “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin:

And last, but certainly not least, another of my favorite groups, the Eagles with “Hotel California”:

What’s your favorite 70’s tune or group?  Enjoy your Monday!

Now on to the particulars of Monday’s Music Move’s Me:

  1. Is it wrong that most of the music I love blends together into different decades and I can’t figure out when it’s from?

No? Good. But I’ll tell you what is wrong…

when one of my favorites from my teen years makes it’s way into elevator music.

    That’s just wrong. SO wrong.

  2. Love Love Love Queen! Man, was he young here. He sure needed a lot of dental work didn’t he, but hell who cared with such a voice! Such talent, and Joe Walsh look how young he is! Don’t ya just love You Tube to bring back such wonderful memories, and where better to do it then through Music! Happy Labor Day! Hugzzzzzzzzzzzz

  3. I am a huge fan of Queen too-love them! My son’s school choir actually just performed their own version of Bohemian Rhapsody for a school concert and it was the hit of the evening. I think you chose the pick of the 70’s bunch!

Thanks for having me and I hope the weather gets a little better where you are. I won’t even mention how lovely it is here in Spring-time Australia….

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  8. Your picks are fabulous! The 70s and 80s were two awesome decades of rock n’ roll beats! Thanks for stopping by today with a visit. I’m totally enjoying my ‘alone time’ with my darling husband. It’s safe to say, no one will see me much in Blogsville this week. =D

  9. I love Queen though I don’t come from the time that they’re really famous. I just love how their frontman can belt out tunes so easily.

  10. Oh yes! Queen TOTALLY rocks! I have their CD’s and rock to them quite often. You are right, who would not like Led Zepplin! Great choices.
Thanks for coming by and rockin’ out with me this week.
