Sheesh! It’s the first Monday of June already! How on earth is the year flying by so quickly? Weird to think that Christmas is just over 200 days from now. I know, I know – shut up, Stacy! 😂 Since it is Monday, you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, will you?

Let’s start with this British singer-songwriter who released a new song and video a couple of weeks ago. He said of the song:

“This song is like supporting a football team. Supporting your people and not asking for anything back from them. Just total belief. You’re gonna turn up when they’re doing their thing and you’re gonna be the last one clapping when they’re done.”

[This song] is it’s about believing in people really. It’s knowing that everybody has it in them to do something and to be special. It’s about saying to somebody that you believe in them so much. And you’re going to be there on the top side, cheering their name or you’re going to be the front row of the cinema when their faces on the big screen. It’s also just about saying that you’re doing absolutely fine. Even if it doesn’t feel like you are. Everything is fine and everything will get better even if it doesn’t feel like it’s going to. But it’s about belief in people really, because everybody has it in them to be special. As a nice idea for a song.

I’ve been going on and on about this song to anybody that will listen so it finally coming out will be a blessed relief to everyone. I just reckon this one is really good. I suppose that’s not up to me is it? Anyway we tried really hard writing it then recording it and mixing it and everything so I really hope you like it.

Next up, coming in July is the first live-action adaptation of the iconic Barbie fashion dolls by Mattel, the film takes viewers on a journey alongside Barbie herself. As she awakens to the imperfections of her life, she embarks on an adventure to find happiness in the real world, accompanied by her beloved partner, Ken. It draws inspiration from Mary Pipher’s 1994 non-fiction book, Reviving Ophelia, which examines the effects of societal pressures on American adolescent girls.

This song is the lead single from the movie’s soundtrack. As well as providing the lead single, this artist also has a cameo appearance in the film playing a mermaid variation of Barbie. This song is an anthem that embodies the spirit of dancing through the night, transcending sadness caused by a turbulent romance.

The vibrant Barbie-inspired video takes place in a dazzling pink set – the artist embarks on a journey of discovery as she learns new choreography amid the aftermath of a fallen disco ball that was meant for the shoot. Undeterred, she fearlessly dances atop a colossal Barbie heel, capturing the essence of the moment.

During a lively disco party, the film’s lead actress, Margot Robbie, along with co-stars Emma Mackey and Issa Rae, add a touch of star-studded glamour to the scene.

Get ready for some crazy fun, here’s Dua Lipa with “Dance The Night”:

Next up, the term “middle ground” means striking a balance between extremes, finding a compromise or solution that bridges opposing views or actions. This song is a reflective ballad that embraces finding common ground in a divided world. The song starts with this group’s frontman wondering what it would take for people to get along. He sings about the challenges of living in a world that is increasingly divided. Levine asks, “Am I crazy to think that we could make it out? Am I crazier to believe there’s a middle ground?

The second verse and bridge explore the impact that division has on the frontman’s personal life. He sings about feeling depressed and hopeless, and he wonders if he will ever find “someone to live for.” The group has described the song as “rallying around a message of fragility and humanity on both a personal and universal scale.”

Last, but certainly not least, is a new song that the frontman described best:

“‘[This song]’ is about struggling to maintain your own health and happiness while constantly being assaulted with images of everyone else’s seemingly perfect lives.

This is something we all come up against every day, just looking down on our phones. Having the opportunity to work with Teddy and Jack on this song was a transcendent experience with both of them.”

Without further ado, here’s X Ambassadors, Teddy Swims, and Jac Ross with “Happy People”:

  2. Stacy,

What’s that, only 200 shopping days left until Christmas?! Oh my, Cathy, I better get started! 🙂 Like you every June my mind falls on Christmas for some reason. Excellent mix of song picks, all which are new to me. I especially liked the Banners, “Name in Lights”. Dua Lipa “Dance the Night” has that throwback 70s vibe, maybe the video influenced my thinking but the tune got me to chair boogieing for sure. Great picks, my dear! xo

  3. Hi all these are great tunes, I am new here, John invited me but I was not sure what the theme was so I copied John’s and days of the week. 💜💜💜
